Diana Allers must be the most useless character ever in a Bioware-game

At least you could hear some pretty interesting conversations between her and other crew members and as well have a couple of interviews with her.

This!

I honestly don't know why people have such a problem with her.
I figure it is mostly because she "ousted" Wong and was "made for teh horny teenage boys".
Well, the more and more she plays the game, the more this horny lesbian likes her, too.
The voice and the voice acting isn'tstill the most pleasant, but the character is just fine.
A young, self-assured professional trying to accomplsih something by doing her job and trying to cope with  a scary situation and looking for a little physicalcomfort and pleasure, nothing wrong with that per se, the writing
lacks just a litlle substance and could have been more, but I like the way she handles her job and the way she teases and flirts.
I fefuse to be ashamed for liking her!
I know, I know, all of this could have been done with Wong, too, and I would have welcomed it, but I like Diana, too, and I am just tired of the useless, superficial criticism of her character. :P

^ guess a lot of dislike / meh comes from the fact, money & time could have been spend on other characters and LIs. Especially ME2!lovers seriously should dislike her, same for VS-fans. I mean: Traynor and Cortez had some well down romances, but Aller's little fling is just that - a fling. And it's not even done in a good way :-(

For me, Allers is pretty much "meh". I invite her to be on board, but tend to forget her.

I actually welcome the fact, that she is just a fling, not every romance needs to be about the big love, though I welcome that, too. Variety is the key word and there is noting wrong with two people wanting just a little pleasure to get their mind of the dire situation they are in, without dating for an eternity beforehand and planning an eternity together afterwards.
I don't think the fling itself is done that badly, but I guess, it's a question of personal taste. I love me some cheezy flirting :D
I think it's quite cute!

^ Okay, maybe I wasn't very accurate with my post: if Allers is supposed to be a fling and the only option to "truly cheat" on your LI without her / his knowledge, then why's it executed so poorly? :(

Why no "sex scene"? And why not being able to call Allers for more than one encounter?
That's what I meant. If Allers is there just for a fling (since her reporter storyline doesn't really do it), why not making it far more ... satisfying? ^^

She's not useless if BW gets a good review from IGN and their support in all things ME....

I'm not annoyed so much at her useless, but her lack of character. Emily Wong and Kalisa Jilani were much more interesting and more relevant.

Unrelated: Casey Hudson needs to do an interview with Ms. Jilani, at least she won't throw him nothing but softballs...

My first reaction on talking to her and her request to be allowed on the Normandy was : No way. No busybody reporters on the ship watching and nitpicking. I didn't like her immediately. If it was AJ, I'd consider since her facade cracked slightly when she questioned Shep (I always have Shep behaving with courtesy and restraint towards her), revealing something of the person beneath.

If it was Emily Wong, yes, I would take her.

I didn't actively dislike her, but I certainly do feel that the resources used to put her in the game could have been much better used towards the ME2 romances, especially those that got the worst treatment (Thane and Jacob).

BTW: I just would have loved to get Al-Jilani on the Normandy - for -exactly- the fling stuff in one playthrough.
She has character. Not one I like, but that's what we men do: we still can imagine having sex with women we don't like ... so to speak.

My canon!Shep wouldn't do that, however.

Not enitrely useless, just not good to look at. Too much botox and more robotic than EDI.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but women can be like that as well. I would have loved to show Al-Jilani a better use for her dirty mouth. ;)
And the only thing that she has over Allers is her repeated presence in all three games, overall their isn't that much more content and characterization.

I get that people are upset that other things and characters didn't make it into the game, I am as well, I have ranted about the lack of Gianna Parasini quite a few times. I've actually created a Wendy Braun Fan Group (her VA, see my sig) in response.

But I am looking at the game as is and for me "I hate her, because she is in the game, while others are not!" doesn't really argue against her as a character.
She is in the game and content wise, she doesn't have much more or less than other minor NPCs and I judge the character based on that. Of course more is always better, but the game is the way it is and I take it from there :)

^ so?
Hmm, then I wonder if Shepard can do it with Aria. He doesn't like her that much and she doesn't like him ... want to see some "I hate you sex" then.

(Still, I like Al-Jilani more than Allers. And I want Gianna Parasini and Emily Wong back!!!)

Sadly, I suspect that this is closer to the truth than we'll ever really know for sure (and I have a good idea which group came up that plan...).

I just hate the way people are talking about this whole thing, bashing a basically fine character so rudely. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I just wanted to say something positive about the character and not just focus on the circumstances regarding her existence for a change.

I didn't mind her, but I think a great comedy moment was missed in the game--a cutscene showing her interviewing the squad. It would have been great to see their personlites emerging from the interviews. Javik's would have been amazing

She is basically fine in your opinion, and you seem to be quite alone with it.
If you don't like it here, no one forces you to be here.

lol -  the most useless comment  on any forum ever- I know it's my opinion! A forum is a place for opinions!

No one forces you to play the game and allow Allers on your ship either, then why are you here complaining?

Pot, kettle, blah, blah, blah

They killed off Emily Wong just to validate her existence. Bleh.

This kind of ticked me off.  I keep thinking "Emmily Wong should be there not her."  And her VA was kind of flat at points.

We should make a list of how many times this question appeared in this thread:D

Because it pisses me of that Bioware even worked on a ****ed up character like that and that Jessica Chobot was allowed to deliver such a ****ty performance.

She gives you 5 Points.
Even Khalisa gives you more.
So no, not really worthy.

If you give her interviews she gives more points, but they're under different assets.

For example if you give an interview about the Krogan/Turian telling her that the Krogan are relying on the Turian fleets for transportation and putting 'viewers' at ease, the Turian Fleet War Asset is updated a few more points.

Yeah.... a whole 5 extra points to the war asset of whatever interview you give. <_<

So not worth having her on my ship just for that.

There are multiply interviews with her. They can upgrade the Alliance 103rd Marine Division, Turians and some other stuff I can't remember.

Okay, I understand you. Doesn't matter Diana lacks some -real- character. Sure, she was meant to be an extra, so to speak, but BW did a way better job with Samantha (she actually has a role!) or Kelly (smaller role, but still). Lets say, I'd love to have some more content for Diana. Including a full blown affair including multiple encounters. Not that I want to go after her, but Shep definitely lacks someone ... available. :innocent:

totally agree dont have anything against the idea behind diane its just how lacking character and emotion instead just a bland character with nothing interesting apart from being Jessica Chobot (and that is not interesting at all rather a negative, no offence)

The first time i got her I thought it was a "pick a reporter", either this chick or one of the other two, and i just happened to pick her first.

I immediately reloaded the save and tried to recruit nbyivlfbulsbgtrsyts <name

Imagine my disappointment :/ That would've been actively cool if you had three reporters.

Emily=More alien support
Kalisah=More human support
Diana=some of both

I mean seriously, what the **** is this?!

She has about 3 dialogues in the whole games, she looks like .......I don't even know what I should call this, she has the worst voice acting in the whole trilogy, her romance gives *forced* a new meaning.......
I could continue endlessly.

People call Jacob or Kaidan useless/boring?
Then what to call Diana?

Really Bioware, why, why?
Did Jessica Chobot pay you so she could be there?

Sry for the rant, but I still can't believe this...

All of the romances are forced. Her's is just the most blatant about it.
