Who here thought the endings couldn't be that bad before you beat the game?

No, I really didn't think it could be that bad. After the intro the game became really, really good. No ending can destroy this I thought. And then total mindmelt. Now I'm ranting to friends, eating a lot of antacids and thinking of the day I ended ME3 as the day gaming died. Not managed to play any games since. It's totally ridiculous! I know this but still...

I thought I was going to replay ME3 for months but there is no point. So I guess at least for me it was the day ME died. The worst ending ever.

This sums it up for me.
It took me a few days to get "normal" again. But I still don't feel like playing much of anything, so thanks for that, I guess..

I was firmly in the camp of "no way the ending could be that bad lol must be good old fashioned nerd rage" then I saw it in all of its glory. That's when I knew I had to hold the line.

Nothing else matter to me from midnight Tuesday to early am Saturday. Didn't check emails, didn't answer my phone, didn't surf any sort of web. Hell, I never even posted on these forums before. I didn't really have a need to. I wouldn't have heeded any warnings about the end anyway as I was too focused on getting the best one possible.

Heh. Funny how that worked out.

Re: OP ?

I was an extremely loyal ME fan. I played all three games and bought all the DLC. I have beaten the various ME games probably about a total of 15x. I had heard the ending was gonna make me mad and I braced myself just in case. When I beat the game my jaw dropped. I was angry, mad, depressed, and frustrated simulataneously. I personally feel the endings discredited ME canon from previous games, were littered with plot holes, and left god only knows how many questions unanswered. My hand was forced into choosing between 3 endings each of which sounded about as appealing as having The Rock repeatedly kick you in your daddy bag until you slip into a coma. Bioware may as well finished with a team photo of the entire Bioware development team flicking us off.

I went into the game without knowing anything about it, other than that I loved ME1 and 2, and was expecting another great game.

When I got the ending, I immediately assumed I had done something wrong. Wrong choice somehwere, not enough EMS, or something like that. Then I Googled "Mass Effect 3 Ending" to figure out what.

It wasn't me.

I did almost the same thing.  I played thru as a renegade in my first playthrough and figured it just sucked because of my awful choices, then when i got the same ending with my paragon playthrough I did some google searching.

Now I'm here.

it took me two play through's to really get that the ending was bad, I was in total denial on my first time through, like Nah that can't be the only ending.. I messed up or something, I must have.. So I replayed and did everything got as many assets as I could and still got the same thing.. Thats when I had to admit the ending was BAD... *sniff*

I played through the game, loved every second and thought that the complaining about the endings were coming from a bunch of whiners, that I would play the game well and get a kickass ending not like those losers. Boy was I pissed off when I reached the ending.

I concur. I assumed the complaints were just people over-reacting. I had so much faith in Casey Hudson from ME1 and ME2 that I felt very confident I would like the ending even if it wasn't a happy ending. I was so disappointed.

I heard the endings were bad before it was released, so I didn't expect much from the story.
Never, in all the games I have played, has an ending ruined an entire game for me. I didn't even know that was possible.

Just before completing the game(on Earth) I was reading a thread on another forum where people were saying how bad it was and I was feeling that it can't be as bad as they were making out ....it was much worse!

It was actually unintentional. I was having some problems getting the game to work so I went online to find Bioware's customer support number. Upon typing in "Mass Effect 3" into Google the first thing that came up was a title along the lines of "Heavily negative reviews of Mass Effect 3 on Metacritic". I thought nothing of it and as I played the game, I thought to myself "This game is amazing! How could anyone complain about this?"

I still think the game as a whole is excellent, which is why the ending hurts that much more.

I hate IGN, it told me (without spoilers) that the game had 17 endings.

When I got my first one, sure it sucked but I still planned another run. And then...

I was prepared by the spoilers thread but still was not as prepared as I had thought. I liken it to training to take a kick to the gut and then getting one in the groin.

I was told about the horror before I beat it. I laughed and though "Wow, what pessimistic ***hole."

I was so wrong ._.

I'm in this boat....my roommate finished it before me and kind of sank into a depression afterward at how bad it was....I was shortly behind him, but couldn't believe it becasue everything else in the game had been so unbelievably PERFECT.

It kind of hits you slowly....like at first your just confused by what you've seen and it takes a little bit of time to really sink in what you've just seen.....and the more you think about it the worse it gets.

I figured - worst case, we're talking DA2 bad here... and from what I've seen of the game already, that's not true. Probably just the usual outcry over every game.

And then I finished the game myself.

And the ending actually is that bad, and worse.

I remember announcing that i was about to get me3 while playing darkfall. Someone said no point, the kid was the ultimate reaper. I thought it was just a troll attempt, and an epic fail at that. I couldn't even consider that it was possible. But yeah, the kid is the ultimate reaper. Totally inconceivable.

Definitely, people always whine about something here when Bioware drops a game and everytime its been way blown out of proportion. At least from my experiences, Bioware has never disappointed. Heck I even like DA2 quite a bit despite all the hate.

That said, I fully expected the endings could be nowhere as bad as people were making it out to be. Boy was I wrong......

I'd tried to avoid all spoilers, had vaguely heard some people didn't like the endings but I blanked that, and throughout London I was gripped. Remember thinking "whining fanboys the lot of 'em, this is great".

We all know what happened next.

I watched a trailer for ME3 like a day before completing it and saw "shepard dies, horrible ending" in the comments. I shrugged it of and though "well even if she dies the story will surely be epic and he's probably only whining cause his shep died." Oh my god I was so wrong, and I even got the so called "best ending" the first time around. I'd take an epic ending with shep dying over that crap anyday -___-
