yeah i heard the endings were bad before i played it. i didnt know the endings and was avoiding spoilers at all costs.

i thought it was just people being upset over shepard dying or something or the ending being sad.

but nope. it was just pure terrible writing.

Me. I thought it was just a bunch of overly critical people nitpicking. Then I beat it. I thought, "It wasn't THAT bad. The Star Child was introduced at the last minute, but it was kind of heroic... waitaminute... why the heck was Joker flying away from earth? Shouldn't every system with a relay be exploded? AND WHERE THE HECK IS MY EPILOGUE?!" Then I went online and saw all the contradictions in Star Child's spiel and how Shep was a total wimp at the end. Worst. Ending. Ever.

Me! I heard the endings were disliked. I assumed it was because they were sad or just downer endings, which I normally like. I didn't realise it was because they were terribly written and broke the universe.

I will die believing the Reapers will save me (by indoctrinating Shepard).

I did, and I still don't think they are that bad.

I didn't want any spoilers, so I flat out avoided any and all fansites or forums until I had beat the game.

Thus I had no idea of the horror that was in store for me.

I avoided spoilers, but I heard rumors of a "jungle" ending. I thought, 'wtf are these people talking about?' Then I finished the game myself. ¦(

*raises my hand*

My friend told me they were bad. I didn't believe her. I didn't believe Marauder Shields.

I was wrong

I heard about the Normandy crash and thought: "Well, I figure that that is only going to be one of the endings and that they'll explain how it happens at least." ............ Nope.
My optimism bar went from about 80% to 0%. <(-_-)>

I heard the ending was bad. However I sort of figured we'd get a dues ex machina weapon to destroy the Reapers anyway, so I was expecting myself for the "worst possible ending" in the Crucible shooting out a pulse that automatically killed every reaper. I was able to brace and prepare myself for that, figuring that would be the worst case ending for sure.

Oh god why.

I read the complaints about the endings on the non-spoiler forums and thought, "Nah, those guys who said the ending was bad just wanted sunshine and rainbows."

So I steeled myself for the inevitable death of my beloved Shepard. I thought if my Shepard has to die, it will be for the sake of the whole galaxy; to make it safe and ensure a brighter future for it.

But nothing prepared me for atrocious writing with artistic pretensions.

I saw some headlines about how Mass Effect 3's ending was pretty bad, but didn't look too far into it. I figured that it's just impossible to please everyone and went into playing the game with little to no expectations.

I had a great time playing the game and enjoyed all emotional scenes, especially the ones with Mordin and Legion. At that point my expectations were raised considerably and figured that the ending would be amazing. Sure, I had some problems with the game like the sudden appearance of the Crucible, but they were minor enough for me to ignore.

Then I arrived at the citadel and I started getting suspicious, specifically with Anderson getting in and to the control panel before me.

Then the Star Child.

Then the ending.

Then nothing. I just felt nothing.

In my case, I was pleasantly surprised.

I was expecting the worst after hearing so many complaints and actually the synthesis ending was pretty damn good. Just finished it today.

Comguard2 wrote...

Tried another ending. Saw that it was only a different color.

What do you mean the other endings are only a different color?

So if you choose to control or destroy the reapers instead of synthesis, you still see Jeff and EDI escape to a new planet, and Jeff has synthetic circuitry from becoming a hybrid?

man, this is gona to be interesting....

I thought no way it could be that bad.

Then, as I often do, I helped a good friend who has muscular dystrophy do his play through on Xbox. He does ok but even small hand and finger movements can make him tired after a while. So I got the experience the game on his Xbox while helping him through some spots.

I'm now trying to get through the game on my own computer, I thought maybe being in control all the time would make it better, making my decisions and not my friends would make it better. It isn't working out, I know whats coming, and all those bittersweet moments about what we will do when its all over, just seem so pointless. It is like sadly watching people go through the motions of living, listening to them full of hope, while knowing every single one of them are doomed.........bleak and pointless.

I didn't think it was possible, I played the other games multiple times, this game I can't even see much point in finishing. I just finished Mordin's sacrifice(which I liked) and it is more of a chore to keep going than a game.

Yeah. Had heard the buzz, and all through the ending I was like, "People are nuts, this is fantastic!" That scene with Anderson absolutely wrecked me emotionally. I was ready for the overture. Then that damn elevator appeared and from then on I was so confused that any emotional or intellectual impact the ending might have had was completely diffused.

I honestly think if they had somehow managed to maintain the emotional pacing right through to the end and gone out on a big note (high, low, whatever) 90% of people would be willing to let plot holes, etc. pass.

I can't believe the people who wrote moments like the Tuchanka missions, or the hospital scenes, wrote this ending...

At least you where prepared! I went into the game without having read anything about the game. Other than what the devs said. I didn't want spoilers, I was shell shocked with the ending, I just stared at my screen for 10 minutes trying to comprehend.

I went into the ending blind as well. I ran through the game got my destroy ending. I was like..."Well that was bad...but my readiness and my War Assets( which were at 4k) could have been higher I guess. That was probably just the bad ending"

So dutifully I went back played the multiplayer collected more assets and went back into the end.

You can imagine the amount of yelling and obscenities that followed.

Read the spoilers, knew what was coming so I went into the game expecting the worst.
For what it's worth I didn't think I could get "more" disappointed, but after actually seeing it for myself...

I also went into the ending blind; I purposely stayed away from any forums or sites that might spoil it for me.

Wasn't long after watching the endings that I made my way here to join the rage. :)

Yep. Was just thinking, "Whatever, there's no way you can satisfy everyone with an ending to a series this big. I'm sure it's fine."

Yeah. No.

i put this somewhere else, but feel it applies:

Playing through the game, when they started to elude to an invisible force controlling everything, i looked at my wife and simply stated "Somehow in someway Bioware is going to drop the hand of god on Shepard and its not going to be good".... ~8-10 hours later im trying to not throw my monitor through the window.

Sooo was expecting bad, but not this bad.

I heard about them, and it greatly slowed down and decreased my motivation to even finish the game once. Where with ME2 I pretty much marathon played it around my schedule.
