Who here thought the endings couldn't be that bad before you beat the game?

Like you heard that the endings were bad but you were somewhere in the middle of the game and you told yourself people are probably just a bunch of whiners.
I certainly did.
Man Oh man was I wrong.
Same, just finished.....my disappoint is unparalleled right now.
Just...why?

Bioware trumped it with their ending.

that was an error,
the endings are illogical, the endings redefine established characters in incorrect directions
that is a betrayal
This situation can be salvaged,

I finished it at 11pm on the 13th. My birthday was on the 14th, and I went into it feeling truly sick, frustrated and unhappy. That was not the present to myself I was looking for.

Same here. I avoided the forums close to release to stay clear of any spoilers but I can honestly say I would have chalked up any complaining prior to finishing the game as just the usual nonsense on the BSN. Nobody could have prepared me for what lay ahead.

"Man...i don't even want to get into it. I mean, seriously, that was it? WTF, that was @#$@#$#%...I even took a day off of work just to have some solid hours with the game."
To which I replied: "Join the club, and oh, go here <link to this forum>."
Pretty much standard reaction to the ending from my personal experience with friends and colleagues that have completed the game.
For those thinking that the people who are upset with the game are the "vocal minority"....sorry, but it's time to crawl out from under the rock. The majority of ME fans are absolutely disgusted with the ending as it is now....and a lot of those people don't even want to have anything to do with the game until the ending is fixed, since there's no longer any point in further investing in the storyline that has a singular conclusion that you're railroaded to...so epically disappointing and frustrating...

Entertainingly, my best friend's boyfriend (who has yet to beat the game) has told her that he thinks I am just disappointed I didn't get a happy enough ending and that it can't really be that bad. I can't wait for him to meet SkyKid.

After over 40 hours of gameplay I finally reach the Illusive Man. Sure, there were some plotholes even at this point, but nothing REALLY serious. Me sitting with dying Anderson and having a one last chat felt like an ideal moment to finish the story. I expected an epic cutscene in which the Reapers would be ultimately defeated. Instead, Hackett yells into my ear.
And then came the Starchild, the "Choose your colour" ending and my emotionless face trying to understand whether I was daydreaming or BioWare just managed to rob me of my anal virginity.

My favourite thing about all that mess is that it actually even kills replayability for the entire series. Ten minutes just ruined five years of gaming and love for a universe. New playthroughs, books, and even the future movie have, since this ending, absolutely no point. All will eventually end with my Sheppard slaughtering the universe in red/blue/green.
My thoughts exactly. I read all the spoilers as I am a kind of person that need to see things first-hand.
This?
10 minutes of game ruined experience for an entire saga. There is no incentive for me to play again any of ME games, and surely no way for me to play mp much more.
Minecraft has better ending than this.
I still hope that it is some kind of joke. A fools hope in me naively believes that BW will soon release 1gb DLC with proper ending.
Right now I am in a state of denial.
this movie perfectly reflects my opinion on the endings:

I have 5 other Shepards to play that I've brought along from ME1, now they won't even get touched. The first thing I did when I finished ME2, was import another Shep...not this time.
Also, any DLC that doesn't add to the ending, won't be purchased on my part, no way in hell I'll suffer through that ending just to bring a couple new weapons or anothert character along.

I was thinking to myself "Eh, I can probably deal with that. I'm sure they'll explain it and have some interesting reasoning behind why. Maybe even some moral of the story about how the races were too reliant on using Reaper tech for their own good, etc."
Then I actually played the ending and my immediate response was "What the hell did I just watch? That made no sense at all and there was no closure in any of it." Even after I knew some spoilers it still managed to surprise me at how terrible it was.

ME3 came out during a period of heavy mandatory overtime at work, so I'd rush home to play an hour or so each night and maybe a little bit in the morning while keeping my eyes far away from BSN, Tumblr, or any game site reviews. I was having a blast and powered through most of the content last Sunday.
My coworker who also loves Mass Effect but hasn't played the game yet told me ME3 was getting horrible user reviews on Metacritic, but I thought to myself, "Meh, it's Metacritics" and carried on. Then my other coworker who has no interest in ME whatsoever asked me what I thought of ME3's ending - the ending specifically. This was ominous. This was my first warning that something might have gone horribly wrong. That was also the day IGN posted their "Mass Hysteria over ME3's Ending" article. I became afraid.
So that night while playing, instead of stopping at midnight so I could get a decent night's rest for work, I decided I better finish the game and find out what's up before spoilers hit me. So I kept going.
My feels went from "This is awesome, I don't know why people are upset" to "BioWare went somewhere dark, but not anger-inducing" to "... what."
And I went to bed at 3am and couldn't sleep cause I was thinking about the endings.
Never could I have imagined my love for the series would end like this. Sometimes I still think I'm dreaming.
