Who here thought the endings couldn't be that bad before you beat the game?

Boy, was I wrong.
I was so very, very wrong. I couldn't have been more wrong. They were worse than anything I could have believed. The opening minute of the Angry Joe video review captures my own reaction perfectly.

Me too. Tried another play through of just the end, and it was the same.
The only thing I am a bit more shocked at is the number of people who haven't played the game complaining about our observations.
But there is some good out of this. The donations to the kids charity, and the Marauder Shields artwork are two.
^This. You have no idea how many anti-ending-hater threads I've seen that begin with the line "I haven't finished the game yet, but..."

"Crappy ending? In Mass Effect? Yeah right... I don't believe that. I'll just make sure to make all the right choices in ME3 to get the best ending possible.''

Based on Bioware previous gems, like Jade Empire, KOTOR 1, BG2:Throne of Bhaal, ME1 and 2, i expected Renegade/Paragon Endings or something in between.
What a shocker. I wish they simply went with Renegade/Paragon Endings.
This. It was like being betrayed by an old friend.

... Then I actually played the game myself and saw the ending. I should have better prepared myself.

I almost wish I had went out and read some responses. For me it was even worse. If I 'had' known to expect something.....wrong I probably would have been more prepared. I was dumbstruck by the absurdity of it.

If it wasn't for the ending i would have defended it as an almost flawless trilogy.

In my case, I was pleasantly surprised.
I was expecting the worst after hearing so many complaints and actually the synthesis ending was pretty damn good. Just finished it today.Comguard2 wrote...
Tried another ending. Saw that it was only a different color.
What do you mean the other endings are only a different color?
So if you choose to control or destroy the reapers instead of synthesis, you still see Jeff and EDI escape to a new planet, and Jeff has synthetic circuitry from becoming a hybrid?

I never suspected that writers so talented as to create the Mass Effect games could ever produce an ending so awful. It was unthinkable to me. It's as if James Cameron or Peter Jackson made Troll 2. They're better than that.
