Who here thought the endings couldn't be that bad before you beat the game?

and I'm still depressed, a Mass Effect game should not make you feel like that, Terrible ending to the best video game series in our generation, I guess Casey thought they were being edgy, but I felt the ending was cheap, there should have been at least 4 different endings depending on what choices you made in previous games, not just different colors. I think they rushed the ending considering Martin Sheen just finished his voice work in december.

But, I am sure I would have played the game anyway had I heard of it. I like to judge things for myself (example, I love sandbox Spider-man games, and reviewers generally give them like a 6 or something), and so would have decided to see for myself. Oh well.

I took my time playing, didn't rush. I hated the beginning (bad voice acting, plot made no sense since I hadn't played Arrival) but as the game went on I fell in LOVE. I thought it was a masterpiece.
I avoided the community (and thus spoilers) like the plague but whenever it was mentioned anywhere all I saw was "FIX THE ENDING" and I just could not understand. I thought the game was amazing.
And then it happened. Why did it have to happen

Still, with no real expectations, the Ending was the most disappointing moment in gaming in the last 10 years. I mean, how do you go from the Garrus Love Interest specific "Goodbye" scene before the push into No-Man's Land, to... That???

When my Shepard was talking to Anderson at the end, I was thinking, "People thought THIS was a bad ending? What the hell? This is perfect."
And then the StarChild happened. :|
The Anderson moment I was in tears. It was like a "Saving Private Ryan" moment. "You did good, kid. You did good." ala "Make it count."
When Hackett paged Shepard and she says, "What do you need me to do?" I was awestruck. Atta girl.
Then...yeah. Starchild. >.<

I kept hearing the endings were bad and your choices didn't matter and I thought "Nonsense, they're exagerrating. This game is a blast, there's no way the ending can be that bad."
And then...
this.

I just sat there, dazed for a few seconds when the credits started to roll.
I kept sitting there, expecting a post-credits epilogue.
Got the dumb grandpa/kid.
Get message saying to buy DLC!
Bitter laughter.

Then I started playing the game and it was great. So I became more hopeful. And then Bioware broke my heart. Never felt such disappointment over any fictional work, be it a game or a book or a movie.

However, as it stands, yes, I could not prepare myself for the bafflement that was the ending we got. I had seen the outrage, but suspected it was just people being rabble-rousing lunatics, as is always the case with the end of a grand journey. Then I saw it. At that moment, it all clicked, and I murmured a silent apology to all those I had dismissed as squeaky wheels.
Yeah...nothing can really prepare you for the endings as they stand. I'm definitely not as upset as many are, but it's still pretty mind-boggling that Bioware green lighted this as the ending to their flagship franchise.

I managed to avoid anything remotely spoilery about the entire game before I started - all I heard was that the endings were rumoured to be "not good", but I figured I'd see for myself before judging or reading anything about them. *sigh*
First thing I did when I finished the game was look on here to see if I picked a wrong option somewhere - needless to say, I wasn't impressed when I found the game ended the same no matter what I did...
I was even planning my next playthrough, right up to the point where Shep passed out in front of the console. 10 minutes later, I had no desire to play the game ever again.

Like you heard that the endings were bad but you were somewhere in the middle of the game and you told yourself people are probably just a bunch of whiners.
I certainly did.
Man Oh man was I wrong.
My thoughts and experience exactly. I just thought the game was getting trolled but WOW I was so wrong. Worst ending to a game ever IMO - even worse than jumk rush jobs like Halo 2.
