I think that the end was a big surprise for us all, but i think that it was in the bad way for the most of us. How could i guess that the ending was going to be something restricted to only three options, with minimal differences between them?. But, it wasn't the worst part, the worst part was the sensation that there is no hope for the galaxy you tried to save. No space battle, no final boss, no conclusion, etc. Was it too difficult to make a great epic final for an amazing epic trilogy?. The 98% of the game was epic and beautiful. They've made the best love stories in a videogame that I remember, they've almost made me cry with Garrus, and for what?. Sorry but i am a little dissapointed with this final.
Sorry for my english.
Who here thought the endings couldn't be that bad before you beat the game?

I heard whispers that the endings were bad, but I figured they were bad as in "now you choose between sacrificing yourself for humanity, ruling the new space empire, or running away to Love Interest Island!"
I didn't really mind that idea back then. Now, I wish it were true.

I think the biggest atrocity by a mile is that barring the ending, Mass Effect 3 almost certainly would have been my GOTY, as well as one of my favourite games of all time.
Now...I'm not even sure what to think of it. It's 99% incredible, but 1% unforgivably flawed. Can we really ignore the 1%?

Yeah.. I was trying to avoid spoilers so I just thought well it sounds like the ending is short and Shepard dies. I kept hearing something about the kid from the opening being an AI but I couldn't even guess at the context. It was... so much worse than I could have ever imagined.

Me at the beginning and during M3: "Pssh, ppl are probably just angry that they didn't get a happy-go-lucky ending, wth do they expect it's a galactic war against demi-gods?"
Me at the end: "Who is this Kid? Why can't I...? Wait, I don't..."

Yup.Funny thing when I was in Basic and things were fubar sometimes the Drills would start singing the Mickey Mouse Club song.Slower version a few words were changed.I can't post them though. It should of been the background music for the ending.

I see something really bad coming as soon as the Doctor started to scan my implant...
But I never thought it going to be such an ugly end...
Space Magic... Bleh...
JPR out

I took a few days vacation to play the game and remained off the internet to avoid any spoilers.
At the end, I agonized about the final choice for awhile and kept wanting to ask the Starchild more questions, then finally decided Synthesis would be the best choice for my paragon. Even got a little teary eyed when Shepard threw herself into the beam...
After it was all over, I was just kinda like.... huh. An open-ended reboot of galactic life almost as bad as letting the Reapers win. Decided for the first time in the entire series that the 'unity' option was the wrong one and went online to see the other choices.
Now I know there is no right option (for my Shepard). Been here hoping for one ever since.

I had no idea, I don't check game sites or anything. I had played ME1 and 2, and I thought this would be just as enjoyable. Then, that ending... It was out of the blue. or red, or green, oh god its horrible.

Really. I at first thought it was just the crappy Synthesis ending, and I was determined to play it again. I thought this was just a bunch of people whining about small little things that can be easily overlooked. Nope. They're all crappy. All the same. So bad that we have to go out of our way to rationalize why they can't be this bad. So bad that "still a better ending than Mass Effect 3" is now a meme and can be applied to the Twilight books.

When the ending sequence was commencing I didn't think it can get any worse than this... Then I saw the "Shepard defeated the Reapers and became a legend. Continue to build that legend with future DLCs" message - it sounded like sarcasm :S

All the way up to the final conversation with Anderson I thought the ending would be fantastic. But then the magic space elevator appeared and things started going downhill.

In some ways, I'm glad I frequented the spoiler groups and knew everything that was going to happen before the game even came out. It softened the blow a little bit when it finally happened.
I still remember a few days before release, when all of us in the spoiler group were just shaking our heads and saying, "If only they knew what they were in for. The poor, poor fools."

I picked up my game the day after release - I actually forgot about the release (playing TOR). I started playing and got as far as Mars. Then i had to travel out of town. I got back and finished the game last thursday night.
The entire time i was completly unaware of the anger about the endings. I made it to the sceen with Illusive man - shep activates the controls and sits down to talk to anderson. I thought that was it.
Then the elevator came....
At the end, i was just sitting there staring at my computer with my mouth open. I couldn't believe it. It was then that i got on the internet and discovered what was happening with the community.
I'm think i am still in a mild state of shock.

I thought it was a hoax.
I thought that they wouldn't dare repeat a good game's same exact ending choices.
But Deus Ex: The Conspiracy.
Control. Merge. Destroy.

I finished 4 days ago and I haven't looked at a game since.
I'd heard the ending was weak but I thought it couldn't possibly spoil ME3 too badly. Seriously - that's what I thought. But the ending managed to taint the whole series with its negativity. Why in hell would I want to go back and play ever again? So I can find a better way to lose?

I was all like, "Ahh, it's probably just people whining. People are such whiners. It's Mass Effect, how bad could it possibly be? They just want perfection. I'll be fine with it, I'm sure, it's good enough, no doubt."
Then I saw the ending. And my face was like my avatar, and I was all like, "OH GOD THEY WERE SO RIGHT AND I WAS SO WRONG."

I accidentally chose the Control ending, as I didn't quite catch which bit did which. So I thought "OK, I chose the bad ending, that was a bit underwhelming."
Restarted the Citadel mission twice. Each time I thought "Nah, there's probably a better/different ending..."
And then the realisation set in. Then the shock. Then the trauma. And then the crying...OH THE CRYING.

Yup. Heard the complaints, but didn't spoil myself. All I thought was that most people didn't like the ending of Lost, but I was ok with that ending so I figured I'd like this one too. Nope. So, I have a low threshold for an ending to reach to satisfy me, and ME3 still somehow failed to reach even that.

Like many I just assumed.
"Oh they must have not made a sunshine and rainbows where all Shepard's always live and go to fantasy Island. Well that's alright that probably means its something closer to what I would've done.
