No, I really didn't think it could be that bad. I really liked DA2 and so many complained about it. And after the intro the game became really, really good. No ending can destroy this I thought. And then total mindmelt. Now I'm ranting to friends, eating a lot of antacids and thinking of the day I ended ME3 as the day gaming died. Not managed to play any games since. It's totally ridiculous! I know this but still...
I thought I was going to replay ME3 for months but there is no point. So I guess at least for me it was the day ME died. The worst ending ever.
Who here thought the endings couldn't be that bad before you beat the game?

Literally 3 of my friends in school were like Holy shi- that ending sucks dont even finish the game, and one of them said that basically none of your choices matters and basically "colors change". Then i was like no way can't be that bad, I'll check for myself and when i get their I'll like it regardless.
So i was making way and everything was epic, ran for the beam, made it to the citadel, confrontation with illusive man. I was like MAN how is this bad? Needless to say the next 10 minutes after that...god how i was mistaken.

I heard about the ending being bad, then stopped reading and concentrated on play to not be biased.
When running over the no mans land everything was perfect. With Anderson and TIM scene... a little weird because the renegade obligatory jumps, but still nice.
When Anderson and Shepard are waiting the end, perfect, I thought "how can people say this is bad!"
When Shepard doesn´t know how to activate it, I was: "This guys are genius!"
Then... then that platform rises...

I assumed the endings were "artistic" and that those protesting were whiners that wanted a happy ending or that saw plot holes that weren't there. I mean, BSN is full of people that call anything and everything a Mary Sue whether it is or isn't. And people often say "violates the lore" when what they really mean is "isn't what I expected". So I just assumed that was going on and that the endings would be fine.
After I saw the endings, I didn't have some sense of betrayal like others did. I didn't feel the franchise was ruined. But I did feel it was an underwhelming ending and a mistake.

I did. I mean.. my BF beat the game prior to me and told me there was an ending where Shepard technically lived.
But I had no idea it was going to be like this. At all.
I mean, my idea of how I wanted it to end actually completely changed with my last conversation with Kaidan. I literally went from "I am okay with Shepard dying to *~*save the galaxy*~*" to "SCREW THIS NOISE IM TEARING THE REAPERS A NEW **** AND IM COMING BACK TO YOU, SPACE BOYFRIEND!". And from what I understand, people had similar reactions to their last conversations with their LIs, if they were on Earth.
But then... that happens? Really, Bioware? Really? Why was it so hard to make endings for everyone? It didn't need to be that hard. There didn't need to be ONE ENDING TO RULE THEM ALL. Christ.

I'd heard from my friend who spent a lot of time on the forums that the endings were getting a lot of negative buzz. I just assummed people were upset because the endings weren't all rainbows and puppies. Then I got to the ending and felt really, really bad for judging them so unfairly. It sort of reminded me of my reaction when I met Legion right after telling the Quarians they should go to war against the Geth. Whoops.

I had heard rumours, seen news titles dealing with people being upset about ME3 ****ty ending. But I though it couldn’t be that bad, people always whine. I was expecting some characters dying, was prepared for a potential reaper victory, or even for an insulting "great you won!" Skyrim-like ending.
But the nonsense of that ending went far beyond any expectations. I mean, my Sheppard is forced to ruin the entire universe and lore we love by blowing up the mass relays. It is in fact even worse than letting reapers win.
The whole fleet is stuck forever on Earth, which implies all Quarians/Turians will starve to death; the remaining races will eventually end up fighting each others to control the last resources ruined Earth can offer.
Joker and my whole crew abandoned me, and ends up lost and forgotten on a random planet, where Tali and Garrus will eventually starve to death since this jungle world is probably levo-amino. So two of the most loveable videogame characters of all time, two war heroes, will starve to death.
My favourite thing about all that mess is that it actually even kills replayability for the entire series. Ten minutes just ruined five years of gaming and love for a universe. New playthroughs, books, and even the future movie have, since this ending, absolutely no point. All will eventually end with my Sheppard slaughtering the universe in red/blue/green.
Nothing could have prepared us for this and nothing can justify it. And in bonus, plot holes and space magic everywhere.

I thought it couldn't have been true. That the day 1 DLC would have fixed this and bioware was just scaring us or making sure their amazing ending was going to be kept secret...I was wrong

I deliberately avoided the media, internet and all things Mass Effect in the run up to the game release so I could enjoy the game in blissful ignorance and enjoy last second.
Well, I guess I enjoyed it until almost the last second, heh

I fudged up during my first playthrough and I was devestated about the ending.
I just made my second playthrough without reading to much into the spoilers about the other endings and I got a more satisfying ending... Not good at all, it still sucks, major, but still more satisfying.
I still hope that BW will remake the ending into "Renegade, Neutral and Paragon" insted of "Bad, more bad and even more bad".
With every fleet asembled and over 5000 EMS Shepard should be able to survive and live in sunshine and bunnies with his or her love interest(Or alone if you didn't romance anyone).
And Joker shouldn't be running away from the fight, even if the Normandy was damaged, there is no way Joker or EDI would leave the battle of our existance, nor would the love interests leave after proclaiming their love to their respective Shepards.
Well, that is my opinion anyway.

In some ways, I'm glad I frequented the spoiler groups and knew everything that was going to happen before the game even came out. It softened the blow a little bit when it finally happened.
I still remember a few days before release, when all of us in the spoiler group were just shaking our heads and saying, "If only they knew what they were in for. The poor, poor fools."
Indeed I remember those days.

I got spoiled on the endings a week or so before release. I was super bummed, but I hung onto the hope that there were more endings than people thought there were, or they might be different, or not as bad in game.
When I saw them firsthand though, it was even worse than I expected. *Sigh*

I avoided the internet while playing, but my roommate was playing too and reading ahead though and was talking about people hating the ending. I thought surely its an exaggeration.
Then it happened. Ugh, wish it would have just ended with shepard and anderson at the control.

I was getting really excited for the game, and told my gamer co-workers to ignore the reviews because those lazy people probably only got one ending, which left supposedly 15 unseen. I even convinced one of them to buy ME2. Then I marathoned the game.
Next day at work, I was compelled to apologize to that coworker for getting him mixed up in this. He's loving ME2. I hope he forgives me.
