These were the results for my "perfect" save, after completing the attack on Cerberus in order to get the Reaper Brain.  Has anybody managed to get a higher number of war assets without multiplayer?

Alien: 1000
Alliance: 1701
Asari: 668
Crucible: 815
Ex-Cerberus: 260
Krogan: 790
Geth: 815
Salarian: 303
Turian: 638
Quarian: 525
Total: 7515

I believe there might be a bit over 7,500, but I'm not sure where they would have come from in your game. You're pretty darn close to the maximum that anybody has been able to calculate.

There is no way to reach 8,000, regardless, if you were expecting to get 4,000 or more EMS at 50% readiness.

Yeah I topped out at around the same. I haven't heard of anyone actually reaching 4000 EMS without multiplayer. And it takes at least 4000 EMS to get the "best" ending with the Shepard lives cutscene.

So did Bioware just straight up lie on this one?

Nah they didn't exactly lie, we simply need DLC at this point it seems.

I've gotten around 7100 I think. I'd have to fire up the game again. To see.

What major decisions did you make? You already mention the "Reaper Brain" which is only attainable if you save the Collector Base in ME2. I got the "Reaper Heart" which was only worth 100 points or so.

Perhaps after a patch.  A few of the support options don't give you anything, and I never turned in the Prothean Obelisk to the volus because, while his dialogue implies it will help with the war effort, you don't get any points what-so-ever for turning it in.  But beyond glitches, I don't see what I've missed.  My CDF score, which is the one with the most variables, is up to 217.

In Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, paragon decisions give you the most war assets with a few exceptions.  I let Wrex die on Virmire.  I also shot Rana Thanoptis just to be safe, although I'm not sure if she actually effects war assets or not even though the e-mail you get if she's alive is pretty damning.  Mass Effect 2's only "good" renegade decision is keeping the collector's base, and that only gives you an additional 10 war assets.

I'm honestly surprised they didn't try to reward renegade players more.  I initially thought that letting the council die would give you more support, but because saving the old salarian councilor gives you 125 war assets, while saving the new salarian councilor only gives you 70, it's actually better to save the council.

But you also lose 1/3 of some of the Alliance fleets as well for saving the Council.

Yes, they claimed that multiplayer provided an alternative, when it is in fact a requisite.

I'm hopeful that they'll correct this in a future update.

I have a big issue with this. The endings aren't that great to begin with. I would at least like to get to one of the better endings. I can't seem to get over 3250. Far short of what is needed. The protean dlc helped a little.

With the current crappy endings, I can't honestly see why the whole EMS and 'good' ending even matters. I mean, there is NO good ending. Since all endings effectively mean the organic galaxy loses, surely there's pretty much no point worrying about the end result? I'm just playing for the combat etc up until the crap last 10 mins or so. I'll replay the game a lot, but it won't be for the plot.

I took that into consideration.

Save Council: 70 (Destiny Ascension) + 125 (Salarian 3rd Fleet) = 195
Sacrifice Coucil: 100 (Strengthened Alliance) + 70 (STG Task Force) = 170

Does the stengthened alliance comment include 'Admiral Mikhailov' who appears as his own line item worth 25?  If not, then the two choices net out even.

Yes.  I included it.  I was as thorough as I could be when doing this recent run through the trilogy, so I did my best to make sure that my math was right.

The only was to get your war assets high enough in SP is to edit your save file. There are a couple of glitches in the game where you are losing 200 war assets which might effect the outcome. IF you do LotSB your are suppose to get 50 assets from the Drell you save and if you have over 100k in each mineral you are suppose to get 100 assets but currently imports at only 25. Also if you destroy the base its suppose to lower the 4k requirement for getting the good ending, and NG+ is suppose to increase your assets by 5% but this isn't happening.

I got the full 100.  Depleted every planet before Horizon, including DLC clusters.

I got 100 assets from my imported minerals (I'm on PS3).

I ended up at around 3400 (well, just under 7k with 50% readiness) and I did all side quests, fetch missions, everything, with all paragon decisions (destroying the Collector base, saving the Council, etc). I even had people like Kasumi and Zaeed show up as War Assets. I can't imagine what else I could possibly do to get another thousand points to get enough. I'm having to use Datapad to build up Readiness before I replay the ending, now - I remember them saying again and again that we wouldn't need to do MP or any of the apps to get the 'best' ending - do they not consider Shepard living to be the 'best' ending, then? -_-

I have Xbox 360 so it might just be a glitch for me had almost 500k in mineral for each when I imported.

I believe Bioware was referring to the 'Synthesis' ending when they referred to the 'best ending', since its that last one that unlocks.

Does this include EEzo? Getting 100k worth of Eezo might be difficult.

I play on the 360 as well.  No problems.

I ended up with around 125,000.  Wasn't too hard, but I scanned every planet to depleted before Horizon.

You can get infinite EMS through MP, just need to get to level 20 in a class then promote, you only get 75EMS per promotion. (Though it says 10EMS when you go check you get 75EMS)

Edit: Welp did not read Single Player max
