When they said that you can get 100% galactic readiness without multiplayer they were referring to the iOS games Infiltrator and Datapad which can boost your GR.

Problem is, Infiltrator is so damn hard to play, the controls are like trying to play tennis in oven gloves. Datapad on the other hand couldn't possibly be any easier but it takes forever to accumulate GR, you'll finish the campaign long before you can play Datapad enough to get 100%.

Also, what if you don't have an iOS device?

I don't think anyone is genuinely offering the iOS devices as a reason why the situation is ok - its just an option for those who want more GR without MPing. Its not a perfect solution.

To be honest, judging from the tone of the developer's post when they explained how GR and EMS worked, I don't actually think he was taking the iOS stuff into account.

I don't know, I'm just going to put it down to Bioware being Bioware. They're generally one of the best companies in the industry for implementing fan feedback but they always, almost without fail, do the odd thing that seems to have been put in purely to annoy their fans - in DA2 it was the recycling ad nauseum on the levels, on here it was making MP required to get the best result.

Maybe it'll be something DLC will handle? I seem to remember from ME2 that, in the original release of the game, you couldn't purchase all the upgrades as there physically wasn't enough cash in the game without getting discounts etc (I ended up buying the last upgrade with the pay-off from Legion's loyalty mission, right before the SM)

Yeah the iOS offerings are from an adequate solution (they're not even fun either!) so I would imagine there'll be changes made in future DLC. As Bioware have said before in regards to the endings, they want to at least wait until the majority of players have finished the campaign as shipped before even discussing future DLC or changes. Presumably to avoid spoilers. It would make sense that, like most games, the GR system will get slightly nerfed as time goes on in order for everyone to experience the "best ending". Cheev hunters are also going to be wanting that delicous Master and Commander cheevo!

Just completed the game. I didn't play multiplayer and got over 7000 war assets but didn't get the supposed 'best' ending. Despite BIOWARE coming out and saying there is enough assets to get them in the single player.

I only came up a few hundred EMS short and I didn't get that ending, either.  I did keep the collector base, but I don't know if that would have made a difference.  I preferred having the 10 extra war assets.

But you also lose 1/3 of some of the Alliance fleets as well for saving the Council.

I took that into consideration.

Save Council: 70 (Destiny Ascension) + 125 (Salarian 3rd Fleet) = 195
Sacrifice Coucil: 100 (Strengthened Alliance) + 70 (STG Task Force) = 170

Where did you find this info?

I'm just now doing a second run threw. The official guide lists that you can get the best ending on the 2nd go around as new options are supposed to open. We shall see.

No new options open up, and there is no bonus to assets from NG+.

Ended at 10600, and there are a few systems I didn't bother to scan.

So yeah it's actually possible to get the 'best" ending with just SP, you just don't have much choice regarding your decisions.

since everyone here is talking about the war assets. would anyone agree with making the promote feature in multiplayer have a greater impact on the singleplayer? not that you would definitely need it for the best outcome, but since they made it so that it can affect your assets why not make it more worth it. what if someone promoted like 10 times? It would be nice if the higher your N7 assets the more it affects that last battle in a positive way of course. i feel that they should make it more worth it to use the promote feature. I mean the promote feature is there make it worth it. i feel that alot of fans would keep up with the multiplayer even more if it did.

also, any thoughs on the possibility for offline multiplayer? it would be nice if bioware would comment about whether or not they will offer this. Man i am hoping they do.

would be great.

@ Zunzun
how did you get more than 10.000 War Assets when there are only roughly 8.600 available in the SP-Campaign? And that would require you to destroy and save the Destiny Ascension at the same time.

Most likely he has a hacked Coalesced.bin.

There are only around 7,500 total assets attainable in the game (when you factor in which are exclusive and which aren't actually accessible anywhere in single-player).

I imagine those five hundred war assets that you would need to get the 4k EMS without playing MP will become available in DLC at some point. Otherwise when the multiplayer eventually has nobody playing it we will find it impossible to hit the 4k threshold.

OK, my problem on this situation is this:

After playing for the second time, I have a Total Assets of 7035, Readiness Rating sitting comfortably at 86% (via multiplayer) and Effective Strength at 6050 and I still didn't see the ending with Shepard taking a breath.....What gives?

I used the Mass Effect Datapad instead of multiplayer to get over 4,000 EMS.

@TekMage- only ONE choice at the end gives you that ending.

You have to choose the "destroy" ending to see the video where Shepard may or may not be shown breathing at the end.

You need to have 4,000 or more EMS (5,000 if you can't persuade TIM to eat it) before the point of no return for it to count.

Are you picking the "Red" ending?
My War Assets and EMS was similar to yours, and i did see the scene, and it only occurs with the Red Choice.  Green is still my first choice, Blue second.

Don't know, actually. Somes assets seem to give me more points in this playthrough than in my first one (which was a differetn character).

I updated my numbers.  I ran through the game again on a New Game + and found one asset modifier I missed, the one about Liara's father.  I always thought she was supposed to show up at Purgatory, which explains why I never found her in my first game.  Now it would appear that 7515 is the maximum total war assets, at least until a patch comes out.

Choices I made leave big differences in these numbers (and a lower total), and it'll be interesting to see the difference between my Paragon/Renegade outcomes. For Paragon I end up with 895 Krogan (Wrex instead of Wreav adds 5, Aralakh ends at 75 not 50, and I picked up 75 for Krogan Mercenaries) and 825 Quarian (+100 Civilian fleet, +100 Heavy and +100 Patrol).

Personally I believe saving the council, dealing with the genophage and brokering peace between Quarians and the Geth are your more important decisions that effects the total amount of war assets you receive.

If you keep Wrex and Eve alive then you will net 450 points
If you have Wreav, Eve dies and sabotage the genophage you will net if I calculated the numbers right 790 points which suprised me.

Personally I like Wrex and you can still get the good endings without sabotaging the cure but honestly I would feel like the worst person in the universe doing that to Wrex and his people. The Dalatrass can just go in a hole and perish.
