It's just a bit of a joke to be a Mass Effect fan now

This is probably the worst thing out of everything.  At the heart of it, this is why it sucks so much.  The idea that you can now say "Oh yeah, I still love Mass Effect' and you sound just a little bit more like a simpering moron than an okay guy.

Like being a StarWars fan after the prequels, except that you don't even have the original series as a fall back.

That is why I think this is hitting some people so hard.  It's not just a game, it's a little bit of yourself that should have been great fun to share with others, now isn't.

This was a big part of me, as somebody who used to Role Play Mass Effect. I hear you, all of us are like wtf. This series became a huge joke to the videogame world.

Yup.  I was going to get my brother to play it (he is finishing his masters and has been too busy) but now I won't bother.  Kind of sad.  Sharing our interest in sci-fi is pretty much the biggest thing we bond over.

In the future I'll just replay Mass Effect and at the end decide the council was right all along: it was all in Shep's head. There were no sequels, ME was just a great standalone with a lot of unrealized potential.

It's not over until it's over. The series is still full of potential, even Mass Effect 3. What matters is how Bioware take things from here.

There are quite a number of people who think being a BioWare fan is a joke. Whether that matters or not depends on you.

Not really. I first bought ME2 because I was bored and nothing else was out that I wanted at the time. I loved it so much that I went out and bought ME1 and played through that. I actually loved ME1 even more than 2.
ME3 is a great game and the perfect ending to the trilogy. Did I want a bit more of an ending... sure, but my opinion of the game is not diminished because a bunch of immature people start ranting about not getting their way.

Be a Mass Effect fan if you enjoyed the games and be proud of it. It was a great series and one that I will be replaying over again many times in the years ahead. Stop letting other people make your opinions for you. Its actually okay to like something that everyone else doesn't. Trust me, the very vocal minority that are outraged at the game doesn't reflect the number of people that like the game.

Yup. A friend asked me what I had done the past week and I responded "played the new Mass Effect" and he responded "Oh, the game with all those whiny fans?".

I dunno, I still love the Mass Effect universe. And yet I feel hurt and taken advantage of by BioWare/EA. To the point that I also logged an FTC complaint against them... both.

And here are my reasons.

BioWare told us MP has no bearing on SP success - outright lie
BioWare (Casey Hudson) told us we wouldn't A,B,C endings - outright lie
BioWare told us that by the end of the game we would see how our hard work and decisions would effect the story - outright lie
BioWare told us that DLC would only require a one time verification - outright lie
BioWare told us that once we paid for MP items we keep them - they disappear and they don't refund your money (outright lie)
BioWare told us (and is continuing to tell us) that the Day 1 DLC is not on the disk - outright lie

I'm sorry but there comes a time when consumers need to stand up and take action. We have complained about being lied to in the past... look where that got us... nowhere.
The video game industry is headed down a very dark path right now, and by the looks of it that won't change unless more and more of us take a stand and refuse to be lied to anymore, refuse to be forced to pay extra for a full game, refuse to take horrid DRMs that do nothing to stop what they are meant to stop and only abuse us paying customers.

I'm tired of just shouting in the wind myself. So I am doing something about it, starting today.

I like Mass Effect, I dont even mind the current endings so much, tough there are things that could have been handled and explained better like the space magic.

I think some of you people got overhyped by Biowares promises. I never did, not after ME2. I was a realist, I knew they wouldnt deliver what they promised, most of it was marketing PR BS. So I wasnt expecting too much...

i disagree with you. a hell of a lot of people love ME, especially ME3. ME3 is by far the best out of the three in just about every way.

i love ME3. ive already logged over 100 hours in it, and will probably log another 100, which will keep me busy until GW2 comes out. the campaign has a lot of replay value, and multiplayer is a lot of fun.

oh, and i bought the DLC. and will probably buy the subsequent DLC's. i didnt buy into any of the "promises" because i wasnt following ME3 development. maybe this is why so many of you are butthurt - you believed their promises and raised your expectations too high. i just bought the game, and thought it was well worth the money.

I agree insofar as it has just kind of ruined the entire series. I was planning on playing the games back to back, after I beat ME3... but instead I ended up selling my ME3 collector's edition back to Amazon (for a $50 loss) and putting 1&2 back on the shelf.

I don't think you understand what the concepts of "product", "deceptive marketing" and "consumer rights" mean.

My thoughts as well. It was far too ambiguous and just wasn't satisfying. The scene after the credits just made things more confusing.

This thread is a joke. ME3 is an awesome game, stop obsessing over one little aspect of it like a tool.
