Yup. A friend asked me what I had done the past week and I responded "played the new Mass Effect" and he responded "Oh, the game with all those whiny fans?".

Exactly. Only reason I am ashamed to be Mass Effect fan right now is this fanbase. Bunch of whiny children who take give more importance to last 5 minutes than the rest of the series. Congratulations to the exceptions.

Funny. You call us whiny and children, and yet we aren't the ones resorting to petty insults.

Instead let me paint a picture for you.

You just met this amazingly hot, beautiful, smart woman (10/10) and she agrees to go on a date with you. So you both go on a really nice dinner date and everything is GREAT, in fact beyond GREAT... it's like you just met your soulmate! And after a fantastic night of drinking, laughing and having fun you take her home. You kiss, you laugh, you promise to see her again! But as she is getting out of the car she bends over and sprays you and your car with a large dose of explosive diarrhea, chunks are everywhere... it's bad.

So what do you remember the most? The date or the explosive diarrhea?

****ING HELL LOL. We make the best analogies man. LOL.

I sometimes try to bring humor to a dark situation. I'm glad I made you laugh!
Hopefully I didn't make you look silly in front of people though... that would make me a sad panda! :P

It's not a few. Here is the poll. User reviews everywhere say the same thing.

I don't know why you say it's only a few. You have zero evidence.

Very bad analogy man,I can do it too.

So you have a great summer. Every day you are out with your friends, having fun, meeting interesting people, going to cool places...just the most awesome summer ever. Then,on the last day of that summer, someone beats the hell out of you and you end up in the hospital. Does that mean entire summer sucked? Will you remember that summer for being beaten up that one day,or will you remember all the great times you had before that?

Most likely you will remember getting the **** beat out of you and being stuck in the hospital, and yeah, it ruined your summer. That's how it works. Good try though.

You're in love with this woman, and have been with her for 5 years. You propose marriage, and she says yes. On your wedding day, she leaves you at the altar. Yeah, you jut wasted 5 years of your life, and it's all been ruined.

Yeah actually I would remember getting the crap beaten out of me. Stuff like that sticks in the mind. It's how the human brain works. But it's not to say that I wouldn't remember the good times either.

Just like with Mass Effect, I know it's a good franchise, I know I had fun while playing through the trilogy. Right up to the very end, and that is what I am going to remember most. The end.

I'm just curious what Ray and Greg think about all this. You'd figure they'd of said something positive or noncommital by now at least.

Not if you enjoyed those 5 years.

If you can only remember the bad stuff in your life, then I feel sorry for you. I really do,it's just not a healthy way of thinking.

Ignorance is bliss right? Sure, you didn't just waste five years of your life with a woman who left you at the altar. sure you didn't buddy.

Yeah, I know. Of course the detractors will say it's a small self-selecting biased poll, but that's their problem. This poll has predictive power. 55K people ain't no small thang. 2% is a tiny percentage. Besides, there is confirming evidence all over the internet.

OP said it perfectly. I loved it because I felt like I was a part of it and it wasn't something I could be proud of if I worked hard enough and got a reasonably successful ending. I thought my decisions mattered which is why I poured hours upon hours into it. Then I find out all of my careful planning was for absolutely nothing and my outcome is based upon which color I like the most. At this point, I'll settle for an ending that makes sense.

You have to admit it's a much better analogy though, up to and including the way that different (types of?) people will go different ways.

Sadly, for me, ME3 was a summer vacation at a beach that had previously been the scenes of the most awesome summer ever, and while it had some good times, it kinda wasn't the same, and then I was hosptialised in a car crash at the end.

Metaphorically speaking.

No time spent having fun is wasted, regardless of what come after it. Even more so with videogames, since you can replay them.

So you meet this woman later who left you a broken shell of a man and your going to thank her for the 5 years?
No wonder Bioware is so successful they can tell you anything and you'll just go oh lalalalala I remember the good they did so the bad is cancelled out.
Must be nice being able to survive off of Baldur's Gate's success forever

i disagree with you. a hell of a lot of people love ME, especially ME3. ME3 is by far the best out of the three in just about every way.

i love ME3. ive already logged over 100 hours in it, and will probably log another 100, which will keep me busy until GW2 comes out. the campaign has a lot of replay value, and multiplayer is a lot of fun.

oh, and i bought the DLC. and will probably buy the subsequent DLC's. i didnt buy into any of the "promises" because i wasnt following ME3 development. maybe this is why so many of you are butthurt - you believed their promises and raised your expectations too high. i just bought the game, and thought it was well worth the money.

Really this.. I see too many Heretics on these boards.

Only criticism I`ll throw towards BW is the multiplayer(I love it) but just tweaks to it thats the only thing we really have control over.

It's not even that 'self-selecting', in fact.  55k is a huge sample and BSN is a place where you expect people who LOVE Bioware games to be strongly represented.

Best you can say is that a lot of people don't mind the ending, but aren't excited enough to have a vocal opinion.  That's not a great sign for the epic conclusion of a multi-million selling franchise.

There's nothing wrong with still loving Mass Effect. It is the most engaging piece of media I've ever experienced. That alone should elevate it to the status of 'art'.

However still loving Bioware after the way they treated us is pretty damn hard.

If you don't know what a metaphor is that makes you look really sad beyond belief.

I get what you mean, but for me, the series has no replay value now. It's a game based on decision making and roleplaying, both of which prove useless in the end. When you play ME1, ME2 or ME3 you're working towards an outcome by making carefully planned decisions that you already know don't matter anyway. It almost retroactively makes playing ME1 and ME2 not fun.
