Any game with DLC (on PC especially) requires you to be connected to the internet at all times to play and it's similar with the XBox 360 for certain content. Whether it's the worst or not, it's been around for 4 years or so and isn't likely going anywhere.

That's totally untrue, we've even had Bioware devs (Jason Leong) state categorically that people shouldn't need to be online to play DLC. Also the 360 doesn't require you to be online either.

Well, I asked Jason Leong about why BioWare says you don't need to play online, whereas EA says you do... He said he'd look into the matter, haven't heard anything more.
I find this lack of coherence between BioWare and their publisher a bit... disturbing.

No need to be on-line all the time. I can play the game on my PC also off-line. But if I go on-line and the connection doesn't work properly, the game things I play with a non-authorized account and gives me a message, that my last save was made with an account eligible for using Warden's Keep, etc., etc. If you are off-line, don't try to log in.

Yeah I saw that thread, however I just tested mine and it plays fine offline (I'm normally always connected), which tends to suggest Jason - and not EA - is correct in this post:

"If your cd key is installed, you should not need to be online to play any of your DLC content, unless you login with a different account. There is a known issue where some people's offline token are not being created properly, which results in these individuals being unable to play offline. We have a number of fixes for the DA Updater going into the upcoming 1.03 PC Patch. If you're currently having issues related to DA Updater, please send me a private message and we can send you a diagnosis tool that includes a number of these fixes in the meanwhile."

So hopefully the issue will be sorted for those unable to play offline in patch 1.03.

This just happened to me for the first time, and I've been playing it at least a couple days a week since release. Kind of annoying. I realized Alistair and Wynne were punching mobs, and I was like, "Wtf?"

Starfang with my grandmaster runes and Wynne's stupidly expensive staff, poof. I'm gonna try restarting and see if that helps. :/

Update: Got my items back, but as soon as I loaded my save the "Unable to access online profile storage" thing popped up. Annoying.

I also had my equipment disappear.  A lot of people on other forums are accusing the people this happens to as using a illegally downloaded copy of the game, however, I purchased a legitimate copy and it happened to me too.  I also purchased the Warden's Keep DLC and got the Shale DLC from a redeem code in the box.  I lost starfang and another item (that cost over 100 gold) along with other misc. items.  Loading from a previous save or restarting the computer fails to fix the issue although I can see the items in some screenshots.

I posted a while back about this and received no fixes.  I also have the latest patch.  I have read this as being a pretty common issue on other forums as well.  Before Dragon Age expansion comes out, I wish this major bug could be fixed especially if they plan on allowing you to use your old character in the expansion...

I'd say we give BioWare the "Worst Developers of 2009" Award.

I never thaught the day would come, when worse developers than FunCom would emerge.
