This guide will allow you to break free from you character and fly the camera around. This will allow you to take awesome screenshots for your own general enjoyment. So follow these step below to set it all up. I will also put a link at the bottom of this post of a video I made prior to this.
Step 1:
The sensible thing to do every time to start screwing around in a config file is to backup the original file. Go to your Origen folder where you installed it. By default it should end up in the Program Files folder. This is the path you should go to:
Origen\\Mass Effect 3\\BIOGame\\CookedPCConsole
In this folder find coalesced.bin and back that file up. Copy it elsewhere or pack it up into a zip or rar file or whatever compression program you fancy.
Step 2:
Click here to download the Coalesced utility. This utility allows you to gain access to many different files and you can tweak the game in many ways. This guide will focus on the free camera movement.
When you downloaded the program unpack it.
Step 3:
When you have unpacked the zip file start up ME3Coalesced.exe. Then click on 'File' and then 'Open'. Browse to 'Origen\\Mass Effect 3\\BIOGame\\CookedPCConsole' and click on 'Coalesced.bin'. A large list will appear on the left side of the tool.
Find and click on 'bioinput.ini' -> 'sfxgame'. Now we have reached our desination. In order to make the controls work during gameplay, cutscenes and conversations we need to bind keys in four subsections under in the sfxgame tree.
Step 4:
The first one we will go to is 'SFXgamemodecinematic' so open up that one up and click on 'bindings = (multiple)'. Two commands will appear on the right side. We will bind the following keys in the section:
( Name="NumPadZero", Command="ghost" )
( Name="NumPadOne", Command="walk" )
( Name="NumPadTwo", Command="ToggleFlyCam" )
( Name="F3", Command="God" )
( Name="F12", Command="Showhud" )
( Name="F11", Command="playersonly" )
( Name="F10", Command="SloMo 0.01" )
( Name="Multiply", Command="SloMo 1" )
( Name="Subtract", Command="SloMo 0.5" )
( Name="Add", Command="SloMo 5" )
Copy and paste the first line above here and paste it into the empty line on the right side of the utility. Once done, click on the empty appearing below that to lock the key-bind into place. Repeat this action for the other lines above here and remember: One by one.
When you are done we can move on to the next one: 'Sfxgamemodeconverstation'. The procedure is the same as in the first one apart from the fact that we add more lines. This extra commands are needed to be able to fly around and use your mouse. So click on 'bindings = (multiple)' again and add the lines below one by one.( Name="MouseX", Command="PC_LookX" )
( Name="MouseY", Command="PC_LookY" )
( Name="A", Command="PC_StrafeLeft" )
( Name="W", Command="PC_MoveForward" )
( Name="D", Command="PC_StrafeRight" )
( Name="S", Command="PC_MoveBackward" )
( Name="NumPadZero", Command="ghost" )
( Name="NumPadOne", Command="walk" )
( Name="NumPadTwo", Command="ToggleFlyCam" )
( Name="F3", Command="God" )
( Name="F12", Command="Showhud" )
( Name="F11", Command="playersonly" )
( Name="F10", Command="SloMo 0.01" )
( Name="Multiply", Command="SloMo 1" )
( Name="Subtract", Command="SloMo 0.5" )
( Name="Add", Command="SloMo 5" )
Allrighty. Time to go to section Nr. 3: 'sfxgamemodedefault'. Add the following lines in the same manner as above.
( Name="NumPadZero", Command="ghost" )
( Name="NumPadOne", Command="walk" )
( Name="NumPadTwo", Command="ToggleFlyCam" )
( Name="F3", Command="God" )
( Name="F12", Command="Showhud" )
( Name="F11", Command="playersonly" )
( Name="F10", Command="SloMo 0.01" )
( Name="Multiply", Command="SloMo 1" )
( Name="Add", Command="SloMo 5" )
This also works in Multiplayer. GOD mode does not work in Multiplayer. I have not tested the GOD mode in SP yet.
One more section left: 'sfxgamemodeflycam'. You know the drill by now.
( Name="NumPadZero", Command="ghost" )
( Name="NumPadOne", Command="walk" )
( Name="NumPadTwo", Command="ToggleFlyCam" )
( Name="F3", Command="God" )
( Name="F12", Command="Showhud" )
( Name="F11", Command="playersonly" )
( Name="F10", Command="SloMo 0.01" )
( Name="Multiply", Command="SloMo 1" )
( Name="Subtract", Command="SloMo 0.5" )
( Name="Add", Command="SloMo 5" )
If you feel like it( I didn't) you can also add these commands in the section 'sfxgamemodedreadsequence'. I have chosen not too since I couldn't care less about those dream sequences. So with everything done and dusted. Click on 'File' and then 'Save' and you are done!
Controls:
So what button does what now with these settings?
Numpad 0 = Noclip mode. Fly your Shepard through everything and out the level.
Numpad 1 = Undo's noclip mode
Numpad 2 = Toggle Fly Cam mode on and off.
F3 = God Mode (Does not work in MP)
F12 = Only usefull when you are gaming, this toggles the HUD on and off. Flycam mode already removes the HUD. Selection boxes remain visible.
F11 = Freezes every character in place. Press again to continue action.
F10 = Super slomo. Slows game down to 0,01 of normal game speed.
*(numpad) = Normal speed
-(numpad) = Half Speed. Slows game down to half speed.
+(numpad) = Mordin mode. Speeds up game 5x normal speed.
The speed keys are not toggle keys. So to return to normal speed press the '*' key.
Video Instruction:
