That's not quite how it works.

Every character card you receive via packs gives experience.  Each rare card gives 100,000 exp, while silver ones if I remember correctly give 50,000 exp.

Statistically speaking, it is extremely unlikely for someone to buy enough packs to get a N7 weapon to X and not be at least N7 level 80+ even if they start at level 1 for all classes.

The characters don't increase your N7 level until you 'enlist' them.

The stronger weapons are boss and boy would I like to have them because it would turn me into stupid mode.  No brag because I have seen a handful of other players that were just crazy good without the strongest weapons.

You don't NEED them.  They are nice to have, but they aren't required.  I'll put my vindicator V  human soldier against a falcon X spamming nub and bet money that even though I wouldn't outscore them the gap wouldn't be that huge.

I can't count how many times I see nubs that can't aim worth squat not even come close to using the power of the saber or falcon or any other solidly hitting weapon.

I've opened as a guesstimate 20-30 spectre packs playing mostly silver and gotten a graal spike thrower II (**** love this shotty), a claymore (**** love this shotty too), a scorpion and carnifex III.  Those are my best weapons besides a mantis X on my infiltrators/salarian engineer.  That's 20-30 spectre packs and probably a similar amount of vet and recruit packs.

It's all good.  I don't have the money to throw at this game other than buying the digital deluxe version.  If I did, despite the less than stellar single player ending(it isn't THAT bad, no seriously it really isn't, remember beating Super Metroid? let down city) I would maybe spend a $50 bucks to help pad my weapons abit.

I do find it extremely suspect with people running around with falcon X, widow X etc.  Today a guy in a silver reaper match had falcon X and carnifex X.  Guess what.  He sucked.

My friend has a Widow IX and a N7 rating <40 because he only plays one class. N7 rating really isn't a factor in regards to rare weapons, you can't tell how many games have been played.

Well that is true, but then again your friend plays one class, so he probably has no idea how the other classes work, or if he's screwing up their intended setups.

Case in point, on my quarian infiltrator I get seriously pissed when people kill my sabotaged units that would help us turn the tide and we wipe.  Or how about people screwing up my biotic explosions on my sentinel or my adept?

Playing all the classes can only give you knowledge and insight, limiting yourself to one is merely handicapping yourself, and probably pissing off every teammate you get.

Oddly, it seems like the randomization varies by day. What is near-on impossble one day happens several times another. Today seemed to be a good day for N7 sniper rifles. The Javelin and Black Widow dropped for me in the only 2 Specter packs I bought.

Of course, I don't like to snipe.

Well my luck is super bad then. I have every common, uncommon and rare guns and mods all maxed out, and I started opening spectre packs. open 16 in a row (bioware points) and all characters, no guns at all. I'm about to Ragequit lol.

I seem to have been rather lucky compaired to some. N7 198 with all characters unlocked (for some time, as well), a few golds (no carnifex) a couple of N7's (Paladin I, BW II), but i'd has at a guess that it would take a VERY long time to get anything up to N7-X.

I've played enough to max three of the rare weapons and get considerable upgrades for most of the others. I've only ever gotten two ultra-rares, and they both suck. You'd have to spend an insane amount of money on points and still be pretty lucky to get these things maxed without cheating.

You can technically have X rank EVERYTHING with N7 level 20. Just sayian.

You'd have to get suuuuper (un?)lucky with character cards tho'.

Not only technically, but also practically possible.

You can just play one class, never promote it and never deploy/enlist other classes. This way you'll stay at level 20 forever.

You don't need to be extra lucky or anything.

That's the beauty of it.

The infrared scope is a waste of an attachment.  AND that effect only works through smoke (useless against anything other than Cerberus), not through walls.  It doesn't even highlight enemies in general.

Character cards give EXP. If you got a bunch, you'd level up against your will.

That is cheating. And I even know how exactly he did it, trust me its easy even 12 y/o with minimum knowledge can do it. Its frustrating because obviously bioware didn't even try to protect game from cheating...

Only reason I didn't do it, cuz I dont wanna risk getting banned.

I open tons of Spectre Packs and never get Black Widow (one day in 3 packs get 3x times N-99 Saber =p), on another hand friend start play just yestrday, and hell from 4 spectra boxes he get 2x Black Widows So it can be posible, but still ....

anything is possible. It may be improbable, but it is possible to get 10 straight black widow unlocks from your packs. They sacrificed a first-born child to the RNG god
