I'm absolutely saddened to hear you grew up during the Bosnian war. You have my support and condolences as much as possible. My heart really goes out to you!

The thread wasn't derailed at all. You gave us the opportunity to voice the specifics of the mission statement, and for that I have to thank you :)

Also I honestly didn't know English wasn't your first language >.>

Keep that up and I may end up liking you <3

Its just that, I understand where you are coming from, my logical side loves the ending, but I have a problem with emotional detachment, so while I have a hard time actually caring about what other people think, that doesn't mean I don't understand where the passion comes from.

I just think a statement that covers all bases (like a contract) would appear to be much more mature and harder to refute because if you Type Mass Effect 3 ending into youtube, look at metacritic, look at amazon and you'll see the sort of people who would support this sort of movement, are acting. You don't want any connection with anyone who says he's going to cut the developers throats...it would sour your movement to be associated with those whining idiots.

Agreed with all said. I even cancelled my SW:TOR accounts after witnessing the "ending.".

Here is hoping BioWare can be better than average. Here is to the people raising money in the charity drive to benefit children no matter what BioWare does. Here is to a better send off for Commander Shepard and the crew of the Normandy.

Hold the line!

I agree with everything except this: The game's ending fails to meet what we were promised as consumers. This is just too far

Early on BW promised a multitude of endings where choices did matter. This is not the case for the ME3 ending.

Even if it's true, frankly I find it quite inappropriate to bring up the "I'm the customer I'm always right" attitude. When you use the word "customer", it's about money and rights, that's the exact opposite of what we're asking for.

No, that's exactly what a number of us are for. The artistic license excuse can be used when talking about fans. And fans are irrational, childish beings (in the public eye). Customers are not. Customers are smart and they are afforded rights with regards to advertising. Beyond that, we hold the real power because where we spend our money matters. If we are treated poorly and we bring our business elsewhere, there's a good chance others will follow after having seen just how poorly we were treated. On the other hand, customers (rather than fans) have the power to bring in more customers through word of mouth and other social media methods.

I agree with this mission statement, but perhaps there ought to be some website somewhere that we can collect and detail a more thorough breakdown of grievances that can be linked to via these forums? Also, somewhere that updates can be posted in news articles on the main page for fans to check regularly that won't get swamped under a barrage of new topics, especially if for whatever reason their PR guys decide to insist on trying to shut down outlets and topics here to block everyone's attempts at organising (it'd probably be a bad move, but it might be attempted on the offchance it'd destroy our cohesiveness) on these forums.

I'm just one (tired and overworked) graduate student! Doing what I can on these forums but I fear setting up the kind of website or forum thread may be a bit beyond what I can organize and manage at this point. I've got a number of real-life obligations as well.

Oh, and here's one of the best demonstrations of a blatant lie.

Try to refrain from saying "BW sucks" that will only be counter- productive to our cause. We need to show we can voice our opinions clearly with reason not necessarily bias.

I agree with OP whole-heartedly. I'm ceasing my sub to TOR, not playing Bioware games online anymore, and will not buy any DLC, cross-media merchandise, or other games released by their studio until this is resolved. And I will encourage my friends to do the same.

Change the ending Bioware, it's the right thing to do. We wouldn't be this passionate and up in arms if you hadn't already created a beautiful thing. Don't let it end with SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE, let it end with closure and a farewell to Shepard and the Normandy that both you, and we, can be proud of.

Unfortunately what's done is done on those websites, and I can't do anything about it. What I can do is write and revise the mission statement as it's needed.

The "contract" is basically what the mission statement is. I don't think it would be good to have it say "all those who agree with this mission statement will never be dicks on the internet." Because, well, there's nothing binding about it and I don't even know how you could make something like a forum post on the internet be behaviorally binding. I don't think it would be ethical, either.

The most I can say is that this statement represents something people feel expresses their ideas in a proper and civil manner. If they share it outside of BSN then it's doing its job. If they share it within BSN then it's doing its job. If they threaten someone or make stupid comments while also using it... I can't really do anything about it, but it's incredibly regretful and I would please ask people not to misbehave while using our mission statement.

Agreed on the consideration to those who like the endings, they should be able to keep them without missing out on anything else. With that in place:

I can't think of any one leader. I can think of a few people, though, whose posts and works have stood out for me.
Bachuk - for his summation about the PR campaign.
atghunter - for his reveals about the inner workings of PR campaigns and how we can work against it.
redknight38 - who inspired the creation of this mission statement.
KeldorKatarn - where else would we be without the wise words of a military man?
KooBareX - for his awesome Marauder Shields comics. If you haven't checked them out, please do.
Alamandorious - He's been with us from very early on and for some reason, he sticks out to me.
Annaleah - Her posts, again, stand out to me and she's been a regular poster, who many agree with.
laughing sherpa girl - She's another frequent poster who stands out for me, also with us from the beginning.

Obviously, these are not the only people in the forums rallying others around them and their words. But leaders are emerging - give them time.

Yes.

I'm just trying to help in my confusing little way I guess. I'm good at arguing and debating, not at this.

Oh, well that makes more sense. I mean I knew people are hateful and all, I just thought it wouldn't hurt to include the fact that while you do support their grieveneces, you don't support their way of stating it.

I'll be honest, I left originally a long time ago because I got fed up with people whining. (saw one guy post like six pages on how much ME2 sucked, for not telling him he had to click the mouse to select a weapon) And rejoined recently because I wanted to talk about ME3...and saw this. Again, I don't really like the endings, but I love the logic around them.

If they could improve the ending, while keeping all that backround stuff I'd be happier with my money spent. So I want to help, but not if you (well in my opinion I guess) mis-represent your cause intentionally or not.
