I'm not surprised by the condescending tone of CNN.

Anybody familiar with CNN's brand of "news" the past few years should not be surprised. They are terrible. Fox is bad too, but CNN has gotten pretty bad also.

I am suprised and excited that they picked it up. Also good for those who want a new ending.

Besides the gamer comment, they manage to get the simple facts right. Hold the line, guys! We're making a difference out there!!

Here's the CNN transcript of the Newsroom in case you missed it!

WHITFIELD: OK. And finally, some controversy surrounding the end to Mass Effect 3 from Bioware. What's going on?

SALTZMAN: Right. So Mass Effect 3 is the third and final game in this epic sci-fi role-playing game series that we have talked about on this segment in the past. So people are complaining about the ending. In fact, there's a poll at the Bioware forums online that 89 percent of the people were not happy with the ending.

Some are saying you don't have enough choice. Some are saying it's anti-climactic. I don't want to give away any spoilers here. But suffice it to say that this might be the first time in video game history that the gate developers will release an update, some downloadable content that's optional that could change the ending of the game to please their fans.

There's been some buzz that this is what the developers will do, that you'll have more choice on how the ending of this, you know, very anticipated game plays out at the end, at the climactic conclusion. So kind of is very interesting to follow this. Because Mass Effect 3 fans are not happy with the way the current game ends.

WHITFIELD: My goodness.

SALTZMAN: This will be a first if they actually change the ending. WHITFIELD: Oh, and it appears as those these video games really are appealing to the more adult audience, or at least the bigger kind of kid, young adult audience for sure, Mark.

SALTZMAN: Absolutely. The average age of a gamer in the U.S. is 35 years old.

WHITFIELD: Oh, my gosh.

SALTZMAN: Believe it or not, which is probably twice that you'd expect of an average age of a gamer. But, you know, as we grew up jumping over barrels and chomping dots and chasing ghosts and now we're having kids and we're still craving interactive entertainment. So there is something for everyone.

WHITFIELD: Wow. So almost the middle-ager crowd. All right.

SALTZMAN: That's right.

WHITFIELD: Mark Saltzman, thank you so much. Appreciate it.

SALTZMAN: Thanks, (Inaudible).

Uh.... ignorance much?

So they require an 'explanation' that gamers are mature adults? And they are 'surprised' by that?

"Oh my gosh"...? Seriously?

Actually I am very much offended by that conversation. Very.

Oh my bloody goodness you idiots!

That sort of struck me as odd as well. But from what I've gathered most of the 'journalists' on these 24/7 news networks live in there own little bubble.

Anyone else find it funny that we once defended Bioware against Fox?

I do, and now they're the Batarian/Geth of our War Assets. Funny how life works, isn't it?

Yeah. The fact that they covered this at all, combined with the fact that it actually vaguely touched on a few good points from the movement, is a nice surprise.

Still not feeling their condescension, but I guess it's better then just screaming "entitled whiners!"

Fox isn't all bad. And they may be a little (too) gleeful to have a news story to run on Mass Effect again.

Might be a good idea on reporting these as refering to only the new organazation, or a liberal/conservative view on the matter.

If we start argiung of why Liberals are wrong, why conservatives are wrong etc. then we start dividing oursleves and its not good for our common goal.

Disagreeing with comments about the topic in general is one thing. Turning into a Conservative vs liberal argument is not.

Politics/Religion are not a good place to start argiung with each other. We should keep personal views to ourselves, at least for now.

Stick to  just facts on the articles and Hold the Line.

Probably not worded the right way but hopefully everyone knows what I mean.

I only mention this, because it can easily start spiraling out of control.

:o That's a good point. Quite a few Christian religious references and symbols are present here and there.

Hmmm ... O'Reilly may hurt us but he may be a huge war asset to.

Since hes more conservative, he may view the entire 'entitlement" portion same as Forbes.
I also think if it comes to light, those who say hiding behind a charity is disgusting are in for a mouthful from him.

But... its hard to say. time will tell.

Im not a huge fan, so may be missing something, but from what I have seen from him, its possible he will lean towards our side. Just based on his typical view of things.

Conservative? O'Reilly? I've watched him take the left-wing view on too many issues over the years to consider him a right-wing guy. He's a moderate that leans slightly to the right.

Anyway, I suppose it's good to have more media coverage. I just hope Fox doesn't have another guest on that didn't do his/her research on the matter like what happened with ME1. Last thing we need around here is another story for the Fox-haters to point to so as to justify their anti-Fox views. (As though other news networks have never had people on that didn't do proper research on the subject matter)

I've been part of "gamer protests" before, but never did I feel like I do in this one. This protest is actually civil and for the first time in a long while I feel like I can do anything. So on a personal note guys, I am honored to be a part of this with you all. Lets hope that Bioware sees just how much we love Mass Effect!! :D

You are probably right.
I probably should have been more clear.  I really havent seen enough of him to get a good feel.  it was just my impression of him.   Thanks for the clarification :)

Im not a hater of either myself.  Im one of those that watches both view points, and then makes my own decision based on both.

Yeah, I will echo the sentiment of leaving real world politics out of this.

It's not a right wing/left wing issue. I'm sure there are people of all sorts of backgrounds in this movement. Maybe even some that like Fox. Not worth taking the risk.

Just appreciate being acknowledged by mainstream news. That's a big deal.

Colbert or Stewart, yeah. Maher, no. Not a fan of that guy. He would be about as bad as O'Reilly covering this as far as I'm concerned.

2: Yeah!

3: What a bunch of children! Remember the Super Mario Brothers?

4: Yeah, I was a big fan of Pac Man! Remember Mrs Pacman?

.... and they wonder why we hate mainstream media.

Yes, this. 1000x this! The last thing any of us that want a new ending needs is to have the movement split-up and destroyed because of political views and what news station we might like. Both of those are unimportant to the subject at hand. No matter if you like/hate Fox or like/hate CNN, we should all be glad that this movement is getting some attention.
