I have a multiplayer Asari Vanguard who reports 14 negative level-up progress points.

How'd I get there? As closely as I can tell, I promoted my muliplayer character, played for a while longer (leveling up the new character to ~12 or so), and went to bed. My computer went to sleep with the game running, though not in any mission.

In the morning, I went to my computer and when I went into multiplayer that character was reporting negative level-up progress points.

I attempt to contact EA support, but the help folk on the chat line didn't think this was a bug.
Hahahaha. I only program for a living, this is a bug folks.
Anyway, they asked me to post this here.

I hope that after leveling another character in that class to 20 I'll be able to do *something* with this one.

For anyone who has this problem-- get your character up to level 20 and you'll be OK again, at least until you promote your character (and perhaps even then, but I'm not doing that for now)

I have the exact same issue. Just promoted Adept at 20, finished a bronze round and went from lvl 1 to 7.. added my powers, and now I'm lvl 1 again with -11 progress points. My other char is lvl 1 too..God I hope when I level up again it doesnt just reduce the -11 to -whatever and then I have nothing to apply

I've got this problem too. I just promoted my infiltrator and now all 4 classes are mucked up. lilwizard, when you say it was fixed at level 20, did it just go back to zero or were you able to respec your class? Respecing was the whole point of me promoting so I hope these classes aren't stuck with the powers I gave them last time around.

I would like to chime in here. I promoted my sentinel class yesterday. As of today, the humans and turian have full point as if they were still max level with -56 points.

They did not delevel.

Edit: My quarian infiltrator has also been affected  at -8 points

I just got the same problem. Promoted the Engineer last night, got to level 17, logged back in this morning and it seems to have rolled back - character name and skill allocation is now what it was prior to promotion.

Just had this issue arise after successfully completing a Bronze match and having the hosting player leave at the scoring screen. All credits and XP were correctly awarded, but I am unable to assign new power skill levels while this bug persists.

My class at the time (Vanguard) was level 1 for the match, gained 5 levels to be 6, and now has -67 points to spend and erroneously reports a 6/6/0/6/6 fully learned skill tree reflective of my point allocation prior to the last promotion. This behavior is repeated across all four race/class combos for my Vanguard class, with -67 points and their previous promotion's point allocation.

This holds true regardless of whether I view my Vanguard powers at the default multiplayer menu or in a lobby. However starting a match with any of the afflicted characters does not allow the use of powers at the levels displayed, only the abilities I bought at level 1 are available. So the issue appears to be confined to the character description pages.

Using a power reset seems to correct the issue, but only for the individual character you choose to reset. Leveling to 20 and promoting [edit: is] another means to address the problem.

This just happened to me too.
I promoted all six classes when operation raptor started, created one new character in each class and everything was normal.

Just now I played a game in which the host left in the break between round 8 and 9, the game switched host and we finished the match, but when I was assigning skill points to the two infiltrator characters I'd created I noticed that my quarian infiltrator suddenly was active (had only created salarian infiltrator+human male after promoting the class) and the QI had the same build as an level 20 (currently level 9), the same colors and name as before the promotion.

When I checked the other classes I noticed that my turian sentinel had reverted to the same character as before I promoted that class too (as I had only created an krogan sentinel after the promote).

Also happened to me, just noticed it right now. 30 minutes after Operation Raptor officially started I promoted two characters right away, an engineer and a vanguard. The engineer's level is at one however it has -76 skill points and it still retained its powers from when it was level 20. My vanguard though, has rolled back to level 16 and it also has -76 skill points and its powers retained. To make things worse, I have lost alot of character appearance options for my engineer and vanguard characters except for my human female engineer and asari vanguard (I'm guessing it's because those were the two characters I specifically promoted).

It's a minor setback and a huge annoyance which is causing paranoia because I'm afraid that the ban hammer will strike me If I ever complete a match with a character with negative skill points.

Speaking of paranoia, now i'm paranoid that the two classes that I have promoted may not have counted towards the commendation pack because of the apparent bug that seems to have struck.  However, I just checked my war assets and apparently the N7 Special Ops raised by 150 war assets just like it should have.

I promoted all 6 classes and didn't have this problem until i bought a recruit packed that had class cards that leveled up my soilder and my adept class. My male soilder was the only one hit with this bug so far. I just hope it stays that way not affect all classes.

So it is clear from all the posts that there is a problem. Can we try to figure out what causes it? So far WWNSX has stated that it happened after a recruit pack...

Any other possible causes?

Bioware will probably figure this out in a couple of months.

I have the same issue after promoting my infiltrator and engineer last night. I played a game with the infiltrator and leveled it from 1 to 6 right after promoting and it seemed fine, but the next time I launched the game it reset to my lvl 20 powers.

I promoted my soldier and sentinel last night, and leveled them a bit. There were no problems last night while I was playing, but this morning when I logged back in and checked my characters again, the races that I did not make new characters for (basically, they were tagged as "new" last night, had no name and were never created) had reverted back to my pre-promotion characters. Now those reverted characters have -46 points or some such.

I bought several spectre packs before I stopped playing last night, it was nothing out of the ordinary or my daily routine. I didn't buy any other packs, just spectre packs.

Same thing here - I promoted both engineer and vangard, as well as also buying some recruit packs which had cards giving experience to the classes I just promoted.

Aparently EA/Origin customer service can't/won't do anything about it. All the CSR drone does is repeat that they can't reset a character's power points regardless of the question asked about this situation. It's annoying (and only a minor set back to re-level a couple of characters) but what a crappy policy from a customer service point of view

Also would like to add on that sometimes my characters reset themselves, happened just now. I was just playing, everything was fine, and went to restart my game. After I come back (which I had only closed the game for maybe 5 mins), my salarian infiltrator (whom which I never promoted), was reset and tagged as "new". I didn't buy any packs, all I did was restart my game.

Yup, happened to me too, I had played about 2 games after promoting and had to restart the game (because connection was wonky) and when I came back (after two minutes), two of my sentinels had negative points and old names and looks. Thankfully I hadn't put points on more of my toons, otherwise they might've been messed up too.

EDIT
And what, now my salarian engineer and fem. human infiltrator are reset and have "new" tags on them, and I never promoted those classes.

I had the same problem with my Salarian Infiltrator. I promoted him yesterday and got him up to level 15 again... only to realize I have -29 points and all the abilities seems to have been maxed out. But... it picked some random skills down the ability trees.

I had to use a reset card to undo the bug. So in the end, this bug costed me a reset card.

My entire infiltrator squad has the same problem. I have them at lvl 9 but it shows me -54 points. I think it might have been caused by my upgrading my adepts and infiltrators at the same time. Any way to fix this other than promoting?

Same here, so far it's just my infiltrator, and I've gotten character cards for other classes.  EDIT:  It's specifically my Quarian Infiltrator and Human Female Engineer so far. I didn't get a cards for them, so I don't think this is exactly the cause, it may be random.

Oddly enough, I meant to set the quarian with the N7 Valiant, and the weapons were reset as soon as I logged in, not to mention I had all of my fully spec'd powers as well.

FURTHER EDIT:  I really hope Bioware doesn't mind us using these characters.  It's not like we can boost their stats even more, anyway.  The only thing is we're not lvl 20, and yet able to use these powers.

Would really like for a Bioware rep to confirm that it's okay to play with these characters.  In the meantime, I'll give the Salarian Engineer a try.

Same issue here. -84pts, all characters that were promoted have all of their lvl 20 skill still.
