I thought it would be just after midnight on release day but ive been told im wrong and its 10am PST.

10AM PST was the time the pre loaded option became available so it might be right.

10am PST is the unlock time for D2D, Steam is a bit later, the noon PST that everyone else is mentioning.

That's if D2D doesn't fail and unlock it some time later tonight like they did with the preloads on Sunday. Not that It matters to me since I got my DDE on Steam.

The reason they don't unlock it at midnight is because they want people in the office to be there in case something goes wrong. Considering the L4D2 and Borderlands riots last week they're definitely justified in this policy.

Let's just hope it's a smooth launch.

I agree, its completely understandable that it's set to a time where steam employees can monitor the unlock but it just is lame that I have all the files on my computer (already preloaded) and I can't play. :(

Why do I have the feeling I am not the only one checking steam now and again just in case...?

When i bought torchlight it unlocked several hours before the timer was up.Though that was an indie game, EA may have a few strings attached to Dragon Age.

Normally steam games unlock at 12pm Pacific time. That's 1pm Mountain, 2pm Central and 3pm Eastern.

Steam has been both early and late in the past, but I've never seen a major game unlock early and I've seen plenty unlock late so don't assume that the release time is going to be perfect for your area.

Don't trust Steam's release date down under. For Borderlands, the release date in AU was the same as in the US until just one hour before the game was supposed to lock when Aussies found that the counter had suddenly reset to say that it would be another three days before we could play. The official street date for DA in Australia is the 5th November, so it's entirely possible that Steam won't unlock the game until then.

You'd think they could at least afford to hire 1 guy to monitor things at night for midnight unlocks.  Wouldn't cost that much per year and would add a lot of value to their service.

Indeed.  If someone official could say the unlock is noon PST tomorrow they'd probably get a lot of people to sleep ;)

Understandable, but so very lame. If retail stores are open selling the game, digital stores should allow us to play.

I'm greatly looking foward to 2PM tommorow. Got my DDE all purchased and preloaded. I'm just waiting on the email with the DLC codes.

Unless they're already integrated into the steam DDE release? I don't think they are, but hey, I can dream. :P

That is awful. I'm not too upset though, as i won't get a chance to play it until after work. that should give them 4 extra hours to fix any problem. unlewss they are like games for windows and won't bother to fix the issue for 3 days.

I hope one day the time to unlock is changed... I do wonder why EA would choose such a weird time...

It is because digital retailers sell to different timezones. If they were to unlock it at midnight, which country/state/timezone should they pick. By having it in the middle of day most timezones have actually changed date.
