It's a useful question for people with multiple platform options to choose from, and I'm always surprised that such information is never released by developers.
I don't think we'll know until after the game is released and one of the sites that analyzes such things posts their findings.
For what it's worth, a decent number of PS3 and XBox 360 games are developed for a lower native resolution than 720p, and are upscaled even to that level. Sometimes the native resolution that they're developed at differ across platforms (like Tony Hawk's Proving Ground being at 720p for XBox and 576p for PS3). At least in this case, the developers did let us know that they're using the same textures on both of the two consoles.

The vast majority of XBox games run natively at 480p. Only a tiny handful are 720, and it dosnt support native 1080p (Only upscaled).
As for the PS3, I have no idea, but I am skeptical that it would be higher than 720p.

Ahhhh... glad I am gonna run native resolution 1920x1200 with anti aliasing on my PC!
If you have a 360 and 1080p display, you can upscale any game to 1080p and they look GREAT.
On the PS3, the developer has to enable 1080p mode or otherwise you are stuck with 720p. Drives me NUTS when they lock it to 720p.

Whoever said it doesn't output to 1080p?
As for ps3, last time I checked it was natively 1080p(although that could have easily been a fanboy lie, and lastime I checked was on youtube, so don't quote me on this one).
Either way both are going to look the same. No matter what anybody else says, they always output the same or very similar that it doesn't matter in the long run.

Yea im in the same boat as the OP,i have owned a Xbox 360 and a PS3 since there respective launch's.I have never been a fanboy, just a lover of video games, but my 360 and ps3 do run in 1080i,both my settings say so,plus you can just tell from seeing the games.

I was under the impression not until the Elite did the Xbox truly support 1080p since it was the only with HDMI output.

The games on the consoles (with a couple of exceptions, usually 2d games) are NOT RENDERED at 1080p or i, in fact many are not even rendered at 720p.
They are render at a certain resolution (sub 720p or 720p for some titles) and then upscaled to match the output resolution. Of course this is far from optimal as the missing information is generated by an interpolation algorithm. Like stretching a low rez JPG. Now add to that the fact that many large screen TV's have huge pixels and stretch out those 1.5 megapixels across 50 inches or so of real estate and you'll quickly realize why games look like crud on a console as compared to a PC.

I guess im just not jaded by great pc graphics since my pc is low end anyway, but i am more than pleased with my console graphics.I will admitt that my 55' samsung and Tritton ax pro headset do help with the experience.

i worded mt response badly, they do display 1080p, but the rendering of the game graphics is not done at that high a resolution on the xbox. the highest resolution a developer can render on the xbox 360 is 720p. even if the output of the xbox is 1080p that output signal is just up-converted from a 720p resolution.

On the back of the ps3 box it states that the res. is 720p. I got that from the back of the box image which is posted on the game stop website so im not sure if thats how it will ship, but i would assume so....but you know what they say about assuming.

I guess we will fine out in a few hours, what system has what resolution
Having both systems. I think that the PS3 might give a better experience overall. Since its very quiet and you don't have the same level of noise that the 360 puts out.

haha i have to admit my 360 rrod'd on me, (i bought it on day one so it was ancient by 360 lifespan standards) so i got DA:O for the ps3 and one thing im really looking forward to is not having to blast my surround sound speakers for the sole purpose of drowning out the 360 noise.

Samsung ftw!!! It's one of their new led's(don't get the newest model as you can save a ton if you bought the 2nd newest, and btw for tv consumists, it's not a full Oled, it's just an ultra thin lcd, sony's making OLED so check up on them instead)
