I agree, so don't pretend you've been a paragon of civility. Plenty of people have seen you being just as immature and aggressive as those you chastise.

I have to say I agree. I find this "hold the line" thing kind of distrubing. An writer sits down to create a piece of work and pours their soul in to it. They create something they feel is powerful and moving and resolves the story they have been telling. Then just because a vocal group of individuals don't like it they are expected to change their story. That's akin to going back and changing Lord of the Rings to a slap happy road trip. This kind of loops back to an "ownership" argument regarding art. Art for the viewer versus Art for art's sake. Frankly I'm of the opinion the artist creates the work for themselves, they put it out there for people to take from it what they will. Mass Effect 3 was a poigniont story with a powerful conclusion. It's like in Serenity, no one wanted Wash to die. But we needed him to die, we needed to be reminded that the universe isn't shiny and things don't always turn out the way we hope.

Come on. This is hardly art for art's sake. It's not Joyce or Rimbaud - it's a video game franchise, akin to a franchise of Hollywood blockbusters. That's not high art by any definition of the word. What people are critizising (and most in a surprisingly polite manner imo) are the frankly unbelieveable failures of logic and storytelling in the ending of the game. We don't "expect" them to change that, but we are ASKING them to and hope they will listen.

Yep. The vast majority of pro-ending threads contain some sort of instigation, and when we respond to defend ourselves we're told "hey, be respectful". I can already name more than a few threads where someone has called new-ending supporters "idiots" while simultaneously demanding respect for their own views. The OP of this thread has already insulted quite a few people while pretending to wear the visage of mutual respect.

Because there is a majority who act like idiots. Not as a whole, but a majority. Of course, you know nothing of respect. And you know nothing about how to be civil with people who don't share the same opinion as you do.

Some of the resistance, they're doing it right. But sadly, most are not.

Perfect example of someone calling others idiots while demanding respect for their own opinions. Above is the very definition of hypocrisy, ladies and gentlemen.

"Most of you are stupid! Now stop making fun of my opinion!"

Only the ones that are acting like it. The ones who are civil, I have no problem with. You, are not one of those people, unfortuantely.

The majority of your movement have proven themselves to be that way. By the way they act and by the way they attack people who aren't like minded. Again, you're fitting right in with them once more. People are allowed to speak their minds on this matter, like the OP. And most of us are getting kind of fed up with it, we want the boards back to normal so that we can actually talk about the game.

The majority, huh? You've seen at least 25,000 people act like idiots?
Sorry if you want consumers to suddenly stop complaining and vacate a public forum, but that's not going to happen.

The salt march was the opposite of cool-headed rational argumentation. It was in fact a whole bunch of people getting all up in flames over a thing.

Ok so everyone is supposed to be measured by the standards you set or they are idiots? To help others, you might want to list down what you consider acceptable then put it into your signature like a random example i made up below

"If you do not follow the rules below, i will think you are an idiot
1) Heck, hell, ****, **** are all vulgar and not respectful. Holy **** is also very repulsive
2) Address me as Mr HenchxNarf or sir at all times. Holy one, master, and your majesty is also acceptable
3) Do not address Bioware by name. They should be referred to as the messengers of the gods"

Anyway, I orginally saw very few signs of poor behavior in this movement... before it could even be called a movement, really. People were more eager to lean on each other and figure out what happened.

Now, however, the venom is starting to run. The tone is less, "We care, Bioware, enough that we feel this ending is purely unbefitting of the ME franchise" and more "Do what we want or we'll boycott your company and go after your supporters".

While I'm fine with the notion of cold calculated strategy, there is a point where you have to step back and realize Bioware is involved in a mutual relationship with you. You can ask, you can influence, but when you start making demands and attacks, you've completely disgraced yourself as being a worthy partner.

Silly notion for those who live in capitalist societies to be told they don't have a right to complain about a product when it doesn't meet their expectations. This vague line about video games being art supposely disallows a customers rights and responsibilities in regard to keeping a capitalist society let alone a industry healthy.

If we're to think of ME3 as purely a piece of art that should be appreciated and not questioned, then perhaps we should just hang it up at a museum. Not to mention the fact that art pieces are also critiqued quite often, and people discuss & talk about aspects of them that they appreciate or don't appreciate. Nothing wrong with that.

Furthermore, ME3 isn't just a piece of art - it is also a product. And when we the consumer feel that the product doesn't live up to its advertisements and that we have been lied to, we are well within our rights as responsible consumers, to voice those opinions.

As long as we keep the language civil and our actions rational (none of this review bombings or suing Bioware stuff), then I don't see any reason why anyone should view the RetakeME movement as childish or out of line.

And to be honest, I think a lot of people simply confuse passion & concern with hostility & childish antics. Those people need to take a chill pill and take it easy.

Gandhi and MLK achieved their goals through a calculated means of mass gatherings, boycotting, and riling up restless behaviors. Saying they did so by "rational argumentation" is incredibly inaccurate.

If you're speaking to "those people", address "those people", don't address a false 'majority' of an enormous group of people. Strange though, that you seem to be speaking to yourself quite often.

Okay, I chuckled. He put FPS players being catered to and polite in the same post. I don't think he's ever played FPS games that much. They make what you see in these forums not just seem polite...but like one's in the presence of royalty type polite.

If there's anything, FPS players are not polite or nice. I get the impression 50-75% of them are teens or tweens...or maybe younger and just using language they see in movies some of their parents don't monitor...

MW players are the worst. I have never seen a bunch of people resort to caveman mentality in my life. Especially if they find out you're a girl. Which is why I don't plug in my headset anymore.
