wow people, why devote 11 pages to the troll? All the reviews about da:o reflects the game that we bought and more, why is the op so confused???

...and while we are off topic fourthrocker, my lightly modded r32 gtr will rock your corvette around a track (at the fraction of the cost of your rustbucket....btw, corvettes do rust)

Sorry for being so off topic but uh... You really should drop the car thing man, a vette is a 'nice' car but not something to brag about. American cars have lost a lot of their luster since the 90s, they've become 'problems waiting to happen'. Corvettes are famous for their torque, and you gotta hand it to chevy, off the line nothing compares. But uh... Handling? Sub par. And high end horsepower? You might as well throw in the towel. Even the most basic souped stang could dominate in a stretch longer than a half a mile.

And as for gas mileage, I'm not sure it's as good as you say. I could be wrong but I'm fairly certain fast cars with sports configurations aren't known for their gas mileage. Maybe yours is configured for mileage but in that case it's not a fast car anymore.

I'll grant you the prestige attributed to your classic 'mid life crisis mobile' but I really wouldn't consider this in any way impressive.

As for the game, I'm sure people will find this a remarkable game. I've gotten more enjoyment out of it than I could have ever imagined in a next gen game. And for that alone, I'll remember it at least.

I wonder what sort of personality disorder one must suffer from to feel compelled to brag about one's car (whether real or not) on a CRPG message board.

The same one that causes any of us to be here at all.

Interesting diagnosis, but I'm fairly certain the mental health community has not recognized being a nerd as a mental disorder quite yet. Maybe it will make it into the DSM V.

I'm hoping that the new manual will include diagnostic criteria for a hybrid (using Million's descriptors) infantile-disingenuous histrionic personality disorder. It would be nice for the psychiatric community to finally recognize chronic trollism and provide helpful therapeutic and pharmacological solutions. The common folk remedy of using flames to purge the disease unfortunately only aggravates the problem. As a proponent of better living through biochemistry, I'm hopeful that researchers will discover some sort of drug regimen to help sufferers control their disruptive posting habits.

Some days, though, I think trolls really just need frontal lobotomies accompanied by shock therapy.

You are kidding right? Everyone knows that shock therapy after a lobotomy is guilding the Lily. I think most here would like me to have it with a knitting needle too probably. And then have it posted to YouTube so you can all have a laugh. People are such wonderful creatures, who says we deserve to go extinct?

Oh, absolutely. That's why I wrote "accompanied by" rather than "followed by."

11 pages? Honestly, guys, the first post had it right. Obvious troll IS obvious - and I'm sure the OP is perfectly able to ****** on his own, without this whole forum doing it for him. This is a guy who registered today to tell us how bad this game was (and how good his car was) - not that he's actually registered the game to his profile, of course.

I mean, 11 pages? For a guy who claims that the quest system is broken, and that he's being attacked by travelling DLC salesmen when moving between locations? Really? This guy hasn't played Dragon Age any more than my aquarium fish have.

Also, $50000 wouldn't even get you a decent set of tires here in Norway. The American government is probably very happy about you buying American, but in an international forum, bragging about it (and how much money you've spent doing it), really doesn't do you any favours.

well the fact of the matter is when you come to a forum and start bragging like you have been playing games longer than anyone else and then start going on about how expensive your cars are and whatnot, people are going to flame you and insult you.

personally i find it hard to believe someone is as old and experienced as this person claims to be and still makes these claims on an internet forum. it reeks of someone lying on the internet because they have anonymity.

I'll admit it isn't the best at anything but it's totally stock, not souped up. There are cars that can beat its mid 11s quarter mile. There are cars that can go faster than its rated 195mph. There are cars that get better than its 25 to 27 mpg on the highway. There are cars that have more than 435 horsepower. There are other cars with fiberglass bodies that don't rust. There are other cars that weigh a little over 3000 lbs. How many have ALL that?  Oh and if I were lying i would have said I have a ZR1, it isn't.

the fact is noone is going to believe you on an internet forum, just stop trying.

All you have to do is know about any of my claims and ask me a question only someone who is telling the truth would know to prove me a liar. As far as the game goes, the number on the bar code of the case is ISBN 0-7845-4670-3

I owned and played more games by the time I was 35 than you will in your whole life, and that was 23 years ago.

fourthrocker, can I ask you an absolutely serious question?  It is not intended as an attack or a dig, honest.

If I told you I was 65, and that I had played more games than you had when you were 35 before you were even born -

would that make you accept my opinions as superior to yours?

Would it honestly give my argument any weight to you, and make you reconsider your view, simply based on my age and the number of games I played?  Would you even take that as an "argument from authority" let alone allow a logical fallacy to alter your views?

While we are on that - if I told you that I was a multi-millionaire, and I never drive a care that is more than a year old, would that non-sequiter matter at all to your opinion on DAO?

Honestly?

If I was to answer for him, no, none of thouse things matters at all, but we could try to read between the lines and try to help him to understand the meaning of RPGs. And its not the rocket.

But your comment is attacking.

That may be how you are interpreting it, but it was never my intention.

The checkers thing?  That was mocking calling Resident Evil an RPG.

This was asking him to put the shoe on the other foot, to think for himself if some of his arguments (his age, his gaming experience, his income) would work on him if an older, more-experienced with games, wealthier person argued the opposite of him.  I don't think he'd care about any of those statistics - as they are all irrelevant.

Also, they are all logical fallacies and weaken, not strengthen, his argument.

If he has a point to make, bringing up the price of tea in China or an accusation that someone arguing against him is really an EA employee (no, he's said neither, they are broad examples of irrelevant points) distracts from any real points he'd have to make.

If you call it attacking when someone points out the logical flaws in your arguments, as opposed to someone trying to say he's superior and that others are just wrong (and calling them children unable to be spoken to intelligently) -
then you perhaps should reconsider what it means to attack someone.

You said it yourself, pointing out logical flaws, you are not helping him to understand, you are, pointing out logical flaws in this long thread of his argument. Your post had no intendion to help him but further in your words making him a fool. You could of course, start an argument with me personally about rather your intention was attacking, humulating, or what not, point is that it was more for you to satifary your ego by pick on someone, to "point out the logical flaws" of somebody.

Perhaps you could jon me in reconsidering what it means to attack someone.

What a load.

The OP is not looking for understanding he is looking to troll. He has been successful as his original post was a good troll. His comments belittling other gamers, bragging about his supposed gaming experience and car are proof of it.  Bioshock an rpg? Give me a break, even the devs of the game dont call it that. It coujldnt be any plainer. What gets me is why the mods have let it go so long.

The community has responded in the normal way. Some trying to engage his troll, some baiting him more and others attacking other posters when they call him on it.

And if there was an award for average then your car won it. By no means bad, but certainly we can both agree that it isn't great. Were not breaking any molds here.

And I'll grant you the classic import v. AM debate that nothing compares out of the box. But you know for a fraction of the cost you could best it. But that's a can of worms no one should open.

Purely based on prestige? You know there's better.

Which is my point man, nice car but not relevant.

What is the difference between telling the truth and bragging? Seems to me that when someone says they did more than someone here has done it becomes bragging instead of just the truth. The concept of experience should be familiar to all of you since this is an RPG forum. You people do realize that experience accumulates in the real world too?

if you had the experience you claim to you would know that talking about things like your car and whatnot is going to result in getting flamed and insulted, period.

ive been playing RPG games since the commodore64 was a good home computer and ive known that fact about forums for years.

the fact of the matter is any old kid can use a google search engine and provide information and even pictures of anything they want to claim they have or have done. its not hard really.

i also doubt if you were telling the truth and not lying you would feel the need to spend over 6 hours on a video game forum trying to prove it to people.

Yeah, what a POS. It only goes 195mph, handles like a dream, gets great mileage, doesn't rust and makes everyone that isn't jealous go WOW. You would only have to spend about $150,000 on anything else just to come close to it and whatever that is rusts and gets half the mileage. It has been unanamously rated as being without equal at almost ANY price, let alone $50,000.

So Huw Heffner is your lover - grats?

Oh, and a note to all of you fans out there: just because someone expresses a dislike for the game does not give you an excuse to start name calling and flaming. That's against the rules here. If you don't want to appear to be a troll yourself, then address other peoples' posts in a more civil manner.
