Dude, I wouldn't be knocking anyone's experience with RPGs.  You lost that argument when you included Diablo, Dungeon Siege, Bio Shock and Resident Evil in your list of "great RPGs".  I'm sorry you didn't like the game, but what you got is an RPG - the games you listed are not - they are completely different genres.  Nothing wrong with them - they're fine games.  But they aren't RPGs.

I can't believe anyone would call the Dungeon Siege series RPGs, those games are an insult to RPGs everywhere... In DS1 all you need to do is set the AI settings at max and the game practically plays itself with only the occassional prompting from the player and IMO any game that is so incredibly easy that the AI can play it on its own is BORING, and DS2 is just the same... It's DS1 with bells & whistles on it.

Half of those aren't RPG's, dimwit.

Surely that's all that needs to be said here?

FYI: RPG's that I think are great. The Gothic series despite the bugs. Demon's Souls. The king's Field series on the PS (especially the Ancient City). Final Fanatasy. Oblivion. Bioshock. Mass Effect. Dungeon Siege. Diablo. Resident Evil. Darkstone. Rune.

All of which I have played more than once and will probably play again.

Dragon Age isn't even in the same planet as these, let alone the ball park.

Obvious troll is obvious but I wanted to reply on this because you mentioned Oblivion. Which Oblivion do you think is great? Vanilla or Modded (Which is why it's great, the dev's didn't make it great)

yes very sad indeed lol. What is truly sad is the intelligent responses
and the fact that everyone has so little experience with rpg's that
they think this game is good (not to mention so little experience with
the english language)

I just love such topics. It's better than reading booklet with jokes! Never seen sarcasm and causticity keener than in Troll or Holy War topics.

ever played the witcher? it is similar to dragon age. and that s the reason to me dragon age origin it is one of my top roleplaying games ever. next to the witcher, mass effect. oblivion and gothic were just dull and boring beyond words.

ever played drakensang? you should also give that a try is another great rp game with a similar system as dragon age. however dragon age is just amazing. but ofcourse it isent perfect and has a few things that could use work. the combat however isent one of them.

My knowledge of rpg's and games in general isn't limited it's vast. Here it is from first to last and I bought every one new when they first came out (except the first, mom bought that):

1) the very first "video" game, Winky Dink
2) Magnavox Odyssey
3) Commodore 128, about 125 games
4) Nintendo NES, about 50 games
5) Atari 5200, about 20 games
6) Sega Genesis, about 50 games
7) Atari Jaguar, about 10 games
8) Neo Geo cartridge, about 15 games
9) PS1, 2 and 3, about 100 games

and I probably forgot something besides

edit: oh yeah, a few hundred PC games

This the worse thread about an RPG ever... I was born before most of and have been reading threads a long time and this thread and the OP are by far the worst.

"Nude Mod for Bastilla", "Molten Core Loot", "How do you save game"... now those are truly great RPG threads.

I think if you hover your mouse over Profile on the left section of the page and click on redeem promo code, that might work.

I think the OP believes an RPG should be more like Fallout 3 or that Oblivion game where it is an open world where you can kill monsters, decide what gear you ware, buy and sell and so on.

But I think most of us here are happy for buying a game with a rich story, rather than just an open world for you to interact in, I think this is the difference, and a the point where the communication breaks down.

Wow, an intelligent response. Most here don't seem to know what RPG stands. The R stands for ROLE. As in playing a role in a game which you do in all the games I mentioned, whether they are are action, group or whatever.
