I think the OP believes an RPG should be more like Fallout 3 or that Oblivion game where it is an open world where you can kill monsters, decide what gear you ware, buy and sell and so on.
But I think most of us here are happy for buying a game with a rich story, rather than just an open world for you to interact in, I think this is the difference, and a the point where the communication breaks down.
Wow, an intelligent response. Most here don't seem to know what RPG stands. The R stands for ROLE. As in playing a role in a game which you do in all the games I mentioned, whether they are are action, group or whatever.

None of the reviews mention the fact that this game uses the totally unfun system of not actually traveling in the world but clicking on a location on the map and traveling there automatically with a stop in the middle when you are attacked.
Possibly because it's a good way of creating the impression of a big world. Otherwise, you either waste resources or the world seems smaller than it should be. Ferelden is a whole country, after all, just as Denerim is a capital city. It's not like Oblivion where you can run across the game world (faster than a horse, might I add) in a few hours game time.
fourthrocker wrote...
The big difference in this game is that it uses this method to stop you
everywhere and try and sell you more content. I am sorry, but when I
buy a game I expect to get the whole game with the admission price,
call me crazy.
There is ONE NPC in the party camp, who you can easily ignore, and one in an area marked with a different colour - which you don't even have to travel to. If these two places are the only ones you went to then your game is bugged or someone else played through all the other bits on your behalf...
fourthrocker wrote...
Then add to that that the combat systems sucks and the
quest system doesn't work and 95% of the game is listenening to
conversation.
I liked the combat system, don't see what was wrong with the quest system, and there were parts where I thought there wasn't enough conversation.
fourthrocker wrote...
Most quests give you absolutely no idea where to go. Some
say go to the place marked on the map but there isn't a place marked on
the map. some quests have mini-map pointers which works but most don't,
even in a city. Worse, the places on the map aren't named the same as
the quest so it's impossible to find anything except by trial and
error.
Or you could actually pay attention to what you have to do for the quest, read the codex entries, and not expect the game to hold your hand the whole way.
fourthrocker wrote...
Mostly I am mad because reviews don't actually tell you anything
about a game or gameplay so i wasted my money on this steaming heap and
I don't even get a complete or working game. I have been playing rpg's
since before most of you were born and this kind of rpg wouldn't even
rate a 1 on a scale of 10. It is incomplete, unplayable and it sucks.
It wouldn't be so bad if the quest system worked and the combat system
didn't suck but if they did this kind of game isn't fun.
If you have "been playing rpg's
since before most of you were born" then how come you still can't recognise a good RPG?

Yes, they are all here instead of playing the game. I don't know about most of you but when i am playing a good RPG you would have to drag me away from the game to a forum.

Oh well that makes more sense I guess. You're one of those people who (Basicallt) believes all games are role-playing games because you play a role. Well I suppose that your post make a bit more sense now, but still maybe this would be your lesson to research the game a bit more?fourthrocker wrote...

Oh and I drive a 2008 Corvette so money isn't an issue LOL and I am not trolling, just telling it the way I see it. But you all are right, it's hard to write intelligently to children.
Yes breaking that mess of spit and bile into readable paragraphs did make it hard for the "children" to read it.
Seriously, you're not saying anything original. In fact much of what you say is simply just inaccurate or designed to inflame arguments...thus you being a troll.
I've covered plenty of this games flaws and I catch a lot of flak for it but I'd hardly call this the worst RPG ever. I think the worst RPG ever was E.T. for the Atari 2600.
Surely you remember that one, if you were playing RPG's before most of "us" were born.
And I'm fine with you being older than me...in fact at my age I find myself twistedly happy when I do run into people older than me cause it allows me to go "oh thank god I'm not -that- old" yet.
Anyways, you're not some kind of diamond in the rough gaming genius, you're a transparent forum troll and thats the long and short of it.
DA:O has its faults, it is not the "best RPG of all time" but it has a lot of potential, a lot more potential than say.....pure vanilla Oblivion without mods did. Its all down to how its handled from here.
And seriously, Fallout 3 and Oblivion are amazing titles I don't knock them in the slightest but out of the box they were no where near as cool as they became with all the mods that came out for them.
I think DA:O is, largely, cooler, out of the box than Oblivion was. Though not as cool as Fallout 3 was, out of the box.

If you you look it up you might find that Winky Dink is the first real video game. It was a cartoon show I watched as a kid (B&W). You could send away for a stick-on overlay for the TV which you could draw on (which we did). I barely remember it but it was a gimmick where they had him doing something like crossing a chasm but you had to draw in the bridge first. Obviously not interactive and he would cross anyway but this was in the early 50's.
So im guess the way you got that fancy race car and mountain bike is because your parents were to cheap to buy a tv? Thus making you watch a black and white on till the late 90s? I feel bad for you bro. What else did you miss out on so that you could have a cool penny racer?

For the map markers, there is an option in the settings to change that. It's set for explored maps by default.

I was thinking of the 'Odessey 100' (damn that thing was a bas****** to play) TENNIS game which was the first officially recognised PONG game.
I can't believe you've never used a ZX81... I guess you've never endured the dreaded ram pack wobblers.
