I can admit when I am wrong. I may have been a little hasty saying the combat system sucks. Like I said I play these kind of games for immersion, escape from reality. Pausing the game constantly in mid battle destroys immersion. But it doesn't ruin the game so when I play again I will reprogram my gamepad so the pause is easier to use.
The thing I don't like about the quests is that I could see no way to find the location for them. I went to Denerim and got all the chanters quests. 3 inside town and 3 outside. The ones inside town did not have a pointer on the mini-map like some quests inside towns do. Inconsistant. Call it hand holding but if you are going to have an in town pointer on some quests why not on all of them or none of them?
So I looked at the outside town quests, Loghains Push to be exact said to go to the place marked on the map. I opened the world map and the only location that appeared to be marked was Sulchers Pass so I went there and I am immediately asked to buy extra content just like in camp. sorry, but i find salesmen extremely annoying in a game.
Am I wrong in at least expecting the name of the locations on the world map for the quests to at least have the same name as the quest or some indication as to what quest they are for?
Yeah, pausing the game is a little annoying at times but you can map buttons to your quick slots and set tactics so your other characters can do what you want them to do when you want them to.
As for the quests, the ones your talking about are partially random encounters. Several quests you actually have to just happen across in your travels. Also, when you exit denerim you should come to a seperate map that shows a bunch of extra locations (the alienage and the pearl and a few others) some of the quest markers only pop up when you visit these places. Again, it should mention what to do in your quest log.
Loghains push I believe is the 'civil war' battle field (or something similar). And yeah, the guy you talked to in sulchers pass is the guy who offers Shale's quest which came free with a lot of copies of this game which I think kinda makes up for the awkwardness of it.
And no you aren't wrong to ask for an indication in the quest log, this is kinda like Mass Effect where it just tells you the general location (solar system) and you have to figure out the rest. I'm assuming they wanted you to put some of the pieces together yourself...can't fault em for trying. XD
