For some people this fact destroys most of the RPG fun, which is undestandable. Others don't care that much about it and enjoy the awesome story and movie-like presentation.
I would not say its a flaw for the effect depends very much on the players preference.

This is my major gripe with every bioware rpg pretty much. Even though i can't stand the modern TES games(morrowind and oblivion) I can still get immersed in world quite easily. I've never been able to do so in any of these 3rd person top down clicky clicky rpgs.  The only time I feel immersion is when i'm in dialogue or cutscenes.

I think it really just comes down to game mechanics, and I feel sorry for rpg fans who only really have ever known this style of rpg, because theres much more, and much better, out there.

You jest, right?

This thread is pure w1n - how DARE he attack our game...

'...and I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I'm The Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you'.

True story.

I was thinking of writing an assmbler program to act as a low level driver for my GPU. But then I started wondering if the windows 5.1.2600 kernel would allow me to insert my code, assuming that I had ring O access and that the execute disable bit functionality was disabled. Then I thought of altering the code in the hardware abstraction layer, only to realise that although it would give me my desired low-level functionality, I would have limited high-level functionality, which I also need. Any suggestions?

Wish I could help you, dude. You might have better luck on the tech forum.;)

I gotta admit it! The game is a big success... a marketing success, unfortunately.
None of the reviews do not mention the worst control system throughout entire game. Lame...
Another thing: 90% of dialog options, including questions cannot be used coz the conversation ends insted of going back to for ex. questions. It just ends and all recorded dialogs are not being used! That's a shame! And on top of it, payable addons - the second chance to rid all of us out of our money. The only thing I like is camp music and "I am the One" track from collector's edition bonus DVD.

You can all moan about troll moaning, but ourthrocker is right. Sorry, you got screwed! (including me because I bought the game too...)

You think this game will not be forgotten after next year? Reminds me of one day in college back around 85. The kid sitting next to me was writing Dokken on his desktop for a while, a real fanboy. I told him Dokken would be totally forgotten in a couple years. He was outraged. When was the last time anyone heard Dokken on the radio? LOL

Forgotten in a year?  You really fail to understand the powah of teh Bioware.  This game will be around for years, as was the 'BG' series.

You have demonstrated your lack of knowledge of this industry on numerous occasions in this thread - try basket weaving?

The thing I don't like about the quests is that I could see no way to find the location for them. I went to Denerim and got all the chanters quests. 3 inside town and 3 outside. The ones inside town did not have a pointer on the mini-map like some quests inside towns do. Inconsistant. Call it hand holding but if you are going to have an in town pointer on some quests why not on all of them or none of them?

I said it before.

There is an option in settings for that. By default, it shows for explored maps only.

I am very certain Dragon Age will not be
forgotten, though your example it's irrelevant.

I have a strong believe that Dragon Age will have at least one large expansion
and other online download mods (for sale) by next year.

I think rather you like a game or not its rather subjective, and your bet of
DAO will be forgotten next year or even 2 years after, its rather far fetched.

Additionally, all of us who have been posting here, we can't be all wrong about
what an RPG is, we cant be all wrong that Tomb Raider is not an RPG.

So maybe you bought a game, you didn't like. Obviously this is a big surprise to most players including me. You don't need to buy anything extra to complete the game. In fact I prefer to travel faster to points of interest instead of walking back and forth for hours through the landscape to reach interesting points until I know every tree by it's first name.

But I guess that's a matter of taste.

P.S.: I recommend you don't get NWN2. Perhaps you'll enjoy ME2. Or get Drakensang or Oblivion or Risen if you don't have them yet. I must admit though, that I currently only have ME (looking forward to ME2) and NWN2 of those games mentioned.

Simple. The reason why it's easy to immerse in sandbox games, is that the character is pretty flat. You tend to be [the guy] from [some remote place irrelevant to the story], killing [stuff] to [save the world]. Theres no initial connection to the world and near to no background provided. Might as well be you, then.
Feel free to insert the appropiate Elder Scrolls, Gothic, Open World/Action RPG substitutes for each bracket.

This isn't meant to be a rant, btw, i enjoyed most of those games, it's just the reason why it's easier to get immersed in them.

As for the topic & OP, while i'm quite sure that you're either a sad lonely teenager, trying to make up the life he never had via google, or an even more pathetic mid-40 acting like a teen, i've had a lot of fun reading this topic.
You're wrong, you're lacking arguments, but you sure are determined^_^ Go on

what's the point of choosing a voice type when creating a character if he/she is completly mute in the entire game? isn't this the proof that the creators have lost their mind?
