I don't actually hate the Thane romance so much as I hate Shepard's UTTER LACK OF REACTION to losing him, and the crew going about their merry way with one or two lines that probably don't even relate to him. It wasn't enough from a FRIENDSHIP point of view, let alone a romance one.

Hate to say it, but if you're put off to a romance because characters don't have reasonable reactions to each other, you might want to steer way from the Jack romance in ME3.

No, I am not. I romanced Tali, the photo was 'shopped, the sex scene was kissing her for 1 second and then i'm chasing a little boy through a forest straight after, we didnt get to see her face in-game. And I can't call her up to my cabin anymore. Oh, and the whole "build her a house" thing was a bare-faced lie. Bioware, I am disappoint.
I feel your pain. I romanced Tali too thinking it would be a great idea to continue our relationship from ME2. That seems like it was a bad choice. I dissed Liara right at the beginning of ME3 when she asked if we had a chance (she was my romantic interest in ME1) and I told her we should just be friends. Big mistake! Tali's face was shown in a photo on my desk, not in game. The sex scene with her was horrible. I didn't feel like she was my romantic interest at all. Yet, Liara wrote my name in the stars pretty much and even during our scene on Earth, she did something special just for me and her. Liara, as my friend, felt like more of romantic interest than Tali did and she was actually my romantic interest! SMH

With Liara, I'm very happy with the stuff that's there. The flirting on Mars, the time capsule scene (even if that's the same for everyone), the sex scene before the attack and then the conscious sharing at the end on Earth. All very nice.
I had Javik mention the relationship once, but no one else. But I think there could have been some more stuff. There should have been at least one more conversation on the Citadel. Instead she just stands around and can't be talked to beyond the first time.
And after the fall of Thessia, you should really, really be able to do a Paragon interrupt, sit down on the bed with her and hold her.
There is a (possibly) cut scene at the end with Anderson, where he asks you about retiring and having children:
Would have been awesome to mention Liara there. The two actually do talk about having a bunch of little, blue children. No idea why that isn't in
Otherwise, what I would have liked is some smaller stuff like putting your arm around your LI when you stand next to each other on the Citadel and talk about something. That wouldn't have been too much work.
Watching YouTube, I can see where most of the ME2 romance complaints are coming from. Jacob in particular was horrible. Thane is very short. Jack has a nice reunion with cool interrupt mechanics, but that's it. The Tali stuff is great though and I also like how Garrus comments on it during the dreadnought mission

Other than that, the romances felt fine to me. Ashley's goodbye scene on Earth, with Shepard quoting 'Charge of the Light Brigade' and then kissing her goodbye (good thing I decided to leave my Recon HOod behind for that mission) was the most touching moment in the game, bar Thane's death scene.

I mean just... dear gog. Through the entire ME2 Harbringer kept following/chasing Shepard around. And now all the sudden he's giving the silent treatment? Just admit your love for him already! Anyone can see it! Gah!
You're too good for him! He was a user anyway he only wanted your mind! Kick him like a bad habit and move on, he was only ever going to use you and lose you. You deserve someone better.

And did you ever realize that his AND other characters' comments on women and lack of comments on men is a result of almost nothing but pandering to straight guys rather than pandering to 'teh gays' or the female players? Is there a strip club in ANY Mass Effect game with half-naked human males and drells shaking their asses for ANY character to comment on? Is there a male AI getting a sexy body with muscular pecs and big chrome bulge to be commented on? Is there an all-male race in Mass Effect universe that is first and foremost a fullfilment of space sex/fetish fantasies for straight guys and revolves in most part around sex, relationships, mating etc? Thane has Kepral's Syndrome. What do Ardat-Yakshi have? A freaking deadly sex addition which we are also being told over and over again how much pleasure it guarantees. Seriously... When are males in Mass Effect EVER commented on in sexual context? Kasumi's comment on Jacob? Tali's comment on Garrus (if they hook up)? What else? Look at Cortez. Except for the story of his husband, he has one moment when he comments on a guy, in Purgatory, and it has to be a random NPC since all strippers are girls. Why not more? Because there's nothing else on the screen or in the story to comment on.Made Nightwing wrote...
What felt strange to me is how Kaidan is now bi in ME3. Not strange as in 'homos are strange', hell, Steve was the greatest NPC bro in the game for Shepard. But strange as in Kaidan never showed any interest in men in ME1, ME2, and (if you play as FemShep or BroShep) never shows any interest in males in ME3. In fact, his dialogue about Chora's Den, EDI's body and Ardat-Yakshi indicate that he's pretty damn hetero. Having Shepard be the ONLY male in the galaxy that Kaidan's interested in feels a bit tacked on (Shepard-sexual), especially since Ash remains straight. BW wasn't even making an equality statement, they were just pandering.

Edit: Unfortunately, Traynor and Allers didn't appeal to me. Allers' voice was too flat and her appearance wasn't particularly attractive. Traynor was a sweetheart and would make a great friend, but as a lover.. eh.. I really wish they'd give female Shepard a woman like Aria or Ashley.

Essentially, I've always had an issue with characters being 'Shepard sexual', and I'm not alone on that front. The reason DAII's romances felt so forced was because EVERYONE was bi. Characters need to have individual personalities, and sexuality is part of that. It's why I applaud BioWare for bringing in Cortez and Traynor, two outstanding characters, who can't be romanced by the opposite sex. Those two characters weren't pandering, they were genuinely great characters. Tacking a bi option onto Kaidan after two games without one was...well, I've already stated my opinion on that.

Get over it.
I'm not a callous person in real life, but I had to get that off my chest. No offense, but it is so easy to say get over it when you are not affected, but when it comes your way, you can't handle it. So typical.
We ME1 LI fans went through this fire in ME2, I'm sorry but I do NOT feel bad for the ME2 romancers.
Maybe, just maybe you'll get some DLC. I'll even say a prayer for you that it comes. Other than that.
I know that sounds mean... but...

It's mean and also stupid of you, you're comparing two completely different things.
In ME2, you knew there would be a third game.
ME3 is the end of the line. This was our relationship send off for the series:
Jacob cheated, and had a baby with someone else.
Thane died and hadn't any screen time to make up for it.
Samara had only one line about spending time with loved ones.
Jack and Miranda barely had any content.
Kelly got an alleyway hook up.
ALL of them barely had any content, for that matter. And now the series is over.

I understand you're upset, but I am not stupid at all, a little cold regarding this issue... yes, but not stupid.
You are right that the whole "end of the trilogy" thing does make this different, yet it is not all that different. There is still room for DLC and with that alone the tables can turn for you all as it did for us Liaramancers. Maybe Jacob and Thane are out of the question, but Tali, Miranda and some others are still capable of being fleshed out more and for those romances, I feel nothing, nada, zilch.

I hope you'll forgive me if I take offense; I may have a few open wounds from where most of my LI's died, cheated on my Shepard or were simply grossly neglected in ME3.
EDIT: Actually, it won't turn out the same as it did for Liara-mancers. Fine. You're not being stupid; you're just being willfully ignorant.
Not only did Liara get an entire DLC all to herself, that darling treatment that certainly won't be afforded to other LI's. And again, it was clear that Liara would play a major role in ME3, an opportunity that all the ME2 romances won't have.

Again, for those romances, I have no qualms and do in fact feel bad, but as I said, some of the others (Tali and Miranda come to mind) I have no sympathy whatsoever. It is those same groups that was digging it in to the Ashley and Kaidan fans and Liara fans.
SO for Jacob and Thane fans, I am with you, you were left in the dust by BioWare it seems. For that I am sympathetic. I don't know what BioWare can do at this point with the finality of your LI's situations, but I feel for you nonetheless.
EDIT: As to Liara being a darling, yeah I can see that, but will I apologize for it? no, as no other character fan would either if the shoe was on the other foot. It just so happens that in this trilogy Liara is an important character that you can just so happen to fall in love with and experience THE greatest romance with. I cannot and will not apologize for that. Do I sympathize? not really. It is a story and in stories, there is normally no fairness with characters. Some die, some are more callous than others, some can have babies, some can't, others move on. That is part of what makes stories great, variety. If everyone was like Liara, then it wouldn't have been a story, let alone Shepards story.

I think the problem, which seems obvious, is the lack of Role Playing that people can do in this game. I read some of the comments on the "Are you happy with the Romances" thread, and whether they were or not, I noticed many complaints were more about the sex scene (or lack there of), or not enough screen time with said characters (even the Big 5 LI's).
But my biggest complaint is not having the ability to role play my character in a romance with MY chosen LI. We ALL should have been fighting for that from the beginning (and not just rping the LI's, but all relationships, and quest options). I keep going back to those that think that Thane's presence in ME3 was good enough, or Jacob 'getting on with his life', is fine, so we shouldn't complain. But my question to them, is why are YOU NOT complaining?? Anytime you dismiss, or limit other players choices, you are cutting out the Role Playing aspect of the game. Doesn't matter if YOU don't choose to rp things the same way I do, just having the option broadens the RPing experience. And it certainly does NOT negate your ability to RP the way you wish (i.e. choosing the LI's you want, playing out quests differently, reacting in different ways to other NPC's, ect....) Options are what make these type of games great. They encourage replay, and sales to DLC, expansions, merchandise. Just my .02.
