Sorry I don't read fairy tales.

-Doesnt matter. You still need to explain to these people they need psychiatric help. Im sure that will go over just fine. And when you are done with the bible there are a plethora of other books and scriptures you can dig into. Plus you had better start defaming all of those of faith who promoted science and logic. Because obviously they too needed help. And still do as many of science are still of faith.

You have alot of work ahead of you. Better get started.

That is bull****. Have you ever read a book and felt related to some of the protagonists? Did you feel anger or sadness when your favorite character died? Books, movies and even video games are means of entertainment, that is correct. But they are supposed to create feelings, it is not just about telling a story, it is all about emotions and that is a good thing. Entertainment without emotions is worthless. I can't imagine any movie, book, or game i liked, which wasn't able to make me feel something. May it be joy, sadness, or anything else.

I never read the Harry Potter books, but i know a lot of people who were really sad about the deaths of special characters. But they were happy as well because the story was able to fascinate them and to produce these feelings. The ending of mass effect 3 is exactly the same as reading a seriesof books and the author decided to create a crappy ending that not just does not make any sense, no, it is ridiculous and negates anything you've read in all that books.

Saying someone is mentally ill because he felt related to a game resp. its story is stupid. It is exactly what a game is supposed to do.

Go get some friends and a hobby because apparently you missed the point of a video game being a hobby not life.

I don't get it, what makes Video Games exempt from emotional attachment, where Film, literature and music are allowed that?

IE, Original Post is stupid and bias. Games are allowed the same level of emotional attachment as any other art.

Because only nerds like videogames, you silly.

people tend to forget that this is a product. It is the same as a toaster, a car or some other device. And if these products are advertised through lies and false promises which upsets the customer than it would have been the same.

Again stuff like the complaint against the Trade Commision is not because the ending sucks but because of lies and proken promises to advertise a product. Basicly this is fraud.

Is it drastic to do this. Yeah of course. But are these people wrong? No they are not.

Wrong. First, bugs have nothing to do with our discussion and you know how many of those I encountered during my detailed playthrough - 1. Something weird in cutscene on Mars, with Liara's head. That's it.

-Grats. I had significantly more. Im not the only one. It breaks immersion, hard.

Also, lore mechanics of ME universe haven't changed,I looked a little at your link,Anderson is no longer a Councilor because of the events of Retribution,

-Which I have no clue about if I didnt read the book, and I thought I was playing a game. I am not supposed to metagame to undestand where the hell I am.

dialogue choices are dumbed down but that doesn't interfere with the lore of the story.

-It does when you cant get information about what you need to know and when you are left with a "wtf?" after a conversation rather than an "Eureka!"

Previous two games had more plotholes than ME3.

-Those plotholes were however covered nicely. The ME3 ones scream in your face.

As they are machines without emotion, their logic does indeed make sense. They wipe out advanced life so that other cultures can rise and start another cycle. Other synthetics might destroy all organic life, advanced and primitive. Starchild was hinted by Sovereign and Rannoch Reaper as something beyond our comprehension, which is actually not but Reapers believed it is. And if Shepard could convince it to stop doing what he has been doing for millions of years with such certainty...

-Ermn.. No. Because if they wanted to protect life they would be defending it, not wiping it out. If the reapers were protectors they could have wiped out the "bad" synthetics. Instead they choose to not only cull the heard, but wipe it out. Doesnt strike me as logic at all. And besides Starchild has to make sense to us, because if he doesnt, we will discard him. If someone tells you something that makes zero sense to you would you take his word for it? Especially when you have no reason to? I would not.

Also, there is a big difference between the endings,BioWare just got a little lazy at showing it. Big deal.

-Big enough deal to alienate a rather significant proportion of the fanbase apparently.

Yeah go ahead act all tough on the internet. You are the perfect example of why the human race makes me nervous..

Insulting someone, a fan of the same series as you even, because he felt emotionally attached to the game? You need to get some friends and realize that there are better, more important things to do in life than insulting someone over the internet.. You gain no respect by doing that.

And because I dont care of your opinion on me I'll tell you I shed tears at some points during this game because of my emotional attachment to the series and characters. And incase you believe in stereotypes I'll even add that im a 17 year old boy. Now just because im attached to a video doesn't mean I have no friends... Yeah I lm a nerdy kid but nerdy =/= no friends so how dare you insult someone and say he needs to get some friends.. I'll be willing to bet that he is a much nicer person that you and probably more respected and liked.. Im a nerd but friends with everybody, everyone knows me.. Hell if you believe in stereotypes again im hungover this morning because of big st. Patty's parties.

Videos games create emotion and when they do, you get attached to it.. Its no different than books or movies as said before... Maybe you should get out a bit and see how many people cry at the cinema when important characters die... Hell I remember when half the cinema was crying when Gandalf died in Lord of the Rings.

So shame on you. Don't insult people over the internet, or hell dont insult people at all. No body here is, nor should be afraid of you.. Being a bully doesn't work online.. Have fun with the rest of you life.

Same goes to you OP.

*hopes this doesn't get me banned* idk if I said something I wasn't supposed to with the new rules and all lol

People that became depressed over the game most likely suffered some form of depression prior to it, or has been going through a rough patch prior to playing. The game itself didn't suddenly make thousands of fans depressed, it just caused some them to fall back into depression OR depress them further.

People can get depressed from music, film, and literature. Now, I didn't necessarily get depressed from the ending of Mass Effect 3.

Just really, really confused.

Nice summary of emotional feeling to the game. I actually stood up and saluted Mordin on Technunka while thinking it was funny I felt so much respect for a fictional character that I was saluting a tv. And I'm a 24 year old male. I like what you said.

To think that a piece of entertainment could actually depress a person is incredibly sad. The ending is... well, it is what it is.

But to engender feelings of anguish and despair, leaving you shaking your fists in rage? Seriously? It may be a stereotype to say this, but... you know. Go outside. Foster relationships with actual people. Soak up some sunshine. It's just a videogame. If you feel it is more than that, consider reevaluating your lifestyle, because you've lost yourself in a fantasy world.

I seriously wonder if the ''hold the line'' folks get this worked up and active about real political/social causes in their home countries as they do about a game.
