I thought the last three years was spent planning something legendary.

Little late imho.

@GnusmasTHX,
I don't think people will care because of that end, i mean its THAT bad, even a new ending won't completely resolve it short of blanking the memories of everyone that saw it, and pretending it didnt happen.

in the final hour of me3 app, casey said

whatever we do would likely happen before or during the events of mass effect 3, not after

that means they planed to end the story like this, screw up everything, leave no room for sequel, so it's unlikely that bioware will change the ending

what we are going to see is mid-game dlc and mp dlc, and future games will be prequel or spinoff

Thats what he said before. Things have changed since then. The entire movement of Retake Mass Effect is an advocate of change. Bioware can still capitalize on this whole situation. Not saying that I'm 100% convinced they will but there is a chance for that. So I'm keeping my hopes up.

Hell who's to say the App isnt anything but a propaganda piece to keep this ARG going, and really thats what it would be if it WAS true. a very sick, twisted ARG.

A DLC to fix the ending, especially Indoctrination as it's commonly laid out, would occur before the end of Mass Effect 3, or during Mass Effect 3.

One thing is for sure, if they pull this off and gives us the end we all have been waiting for so long there is no chance in hell that the ending will be forgotten! That was the wish from Casey Hudson and he would be fully satisfied if they do this.

I doubt they planned anything. That doesn't preclude them releasing something legendary, though.

This.  And I think this is the most reasonable thing to hope for, that bioware goes to the drawing board with a fairly good idea of what most of us felt were the problems with the ending and moves on from that.  I think the idea that this was all planned and they've been hiding secret super awesome DLC from the start is a misconception.  I mean it could be true, but I find it highly unlikely.

What is more likely is that we could get them to fix it through an actual DLC similar to lair of the shadow broker or the arrival.  The goal is to get them to plan on doing that, have them admit they're doing that, and then wait till it's released.

I'm with the OP here. I'm so delusional. I just can't accept that they thought this would be the best way to end it. There has to be something planned. It just doesn't make sense.

Isnt it strange:

...that Bioware doesent seem concerned that the ending was so bad that even if 99% of the game was fantastic... the only thing their game will ever be remembered for was its horrible ending?

... that the now-standing ending is actually so bad that 1% of the game completely overshadows the other 99% combined?

No. it doesn't seem strange at all that they don't care when we've already given them our money.

It will seem strange if in the fullness of time they don't grasp that they can make money out of providing an alternate ending and that they then will be able to sell more of their planned DLC.

It seems pretty clear to me that BioWare isn't planning something legendary. They just missed the ending, sith happens (as one would say in SW:TOR).

That doesn't mean there is no line to be held. I support the move to release ending DLCs !

I'd like to think that but I don't. I have a feeling a lot (if not most) of the DLC for this game will be MP based. Map packs, new races, game modes, and weapons. If EA is smart and wants money (which they do) they will tie these MP DLCs to some single player content. New map pack comes with a new squad member or weapon etc.. Again, I really hope not. I'd like to see some more Single player content but I'm not holding my breath

I'd buy a new ending only if it came with an expansion pack, like Shivering Isles expansion size.

Hope is a wonderful thing, but, i have paid for a complete game not a fragmented history who needs to be completed by buying dlc, if those dlc don't cost money and all of this is an idea of suspense and marketing... it's risky but i'm okay with that, but if they're trying to rob me with more money after buying the Digital Deluxe for an incomplete history and a ridiculous ending, sorry BW/EA don't count with me.

Hold the Line!

PD: Imperium Thought: Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment ^_^

...That they would let their reputation be permanently ruined, and even if they dont care about morals and ethics their company would suffer economic failures due to betraying their fans?

...That such a good writer would just suddenly happen to openly steal Deux ex's ending, lose all imagination, go so blind he cant see how the ending sucks, and just simply UTTERLY FAIL at the finnish line when he ran the previous 99% of the marathon just fine?

The ending is a catastrophe for Bioware and fans alike.

Yet... strangely, Bioware keeps acting cool, with mysterious tweets, silence and so on. Posting things like "If the fans knew what was in store..." etc.

Consider this: Bioware stands accused of so many lies right now its overwhelming. If their reaction simply is a PR trick, that would go as further deception and lying. Twisting the knife in the wound.

Indoctrination theory or other solutions, I'm willing to start betting organs that Bioware will come with an ending DLC, or even an expansion for the sole purpose of bringing closure.

What is suspicious isnt that Bioware failed, but how MUCH they failed. (Seemingly).
The next clue is the lies they are accused of when it comes to upholding their promises, they react to them with silence and mysterious messages.

If this was just a PR trick, it would only hurt Bioware MORE.

Noone fails this much and thinks its ok unless they are delusional.
99% of the game was brilliant, and clearly not made by someone delusional.

Therefore, there is a trick. Bioware is planning something legendary, something they KNOW will redeem them infinitely.

I hate the ending and wish for something better, but the Final Hour stuff proves that Bioware is satisfied with the ending as-is. Despite the platitudes their PR people vomit at the fans, there is no planned alternate ending, and no new ending will present itself. Like it for what it is ( a bad multiplayer platform) or move on to another game.

They didn't intentionally screw up the lore; according to the Final Hours stuff, they ran out of development time due to multiplayer development and had to throw something together last minute because of time contstraints. My gratitude to all the folks who just love multiplayer shooters; thanks for ruining the game for me.

It is hard to believe that when they did Dragon Age: Origins, they had you gather armies to fight an ancient evil that was tranforming races in terrible ways that they forgotten had to write an ending. It is the same plot. Dragon Age:Origins ended with a summary to what happen with all the factions that fought with you. what happenned with your companions, some various npcs you encountered, and they did this even if you died. Yes, Virginia, you got a summary even if your Gray Warden died. You would want to beleive that Bioware has something special. but they do not.

I agree there is no alternate ending. If one comes out, it was not planned.

Holding the Line.
I want to believe.

No wait I DO BELIEVE in Bioware. I don't believe that they would epic fail like this - not after the bioware RPGs I have played that have been so epicly awesome.

THEY ARE BETTER THEN THIS AND THEY DO HAVE SOMETHING PLANNED.

Can't wait to see what it is :D
