well if i could only mute the idiots then i would use the ingame voice comms but i would rather lose the odd game than risk being exposed to all the tards that are out there just waiting to annoy me

Even if the server has been 100% quiet up to that point. I still warn players about banshees, ravangers, brutes, hunters, primes, phantoms, ect. All the dangerous ones.

I have also been known to support the last player standing, by warning him of what is behind him and helping him finish the wave despite the fact we are all dead. I wish more people did this, it would make games much eaiser lol

I'm sorry....you don't like ppl giving their opinions with conviction?

Did I scream at you with capslock?

Did I start playing loud music or something?

Did I swear at you and belittle you in anyway?

No, I might have been a little stern but I was not disrespectful.

Well, in my experience, it's mostly people who like to order others around who demand the use of mics. It's rarely a real teamgame in public matches and a mic doesn't change that.

What you said makes no sense.  Mics give YOU the chance to talk.  Why would someone who has a mic demand you have one....when if you're playing with the sound on you're hearing he voice chat anyway.

How does YOU being able to talk have anything to do with whether or not I want to order you around.  This is speaking not listenning/sound/

I think you're just using this situation to generalize a "rule of thumb" to make it look like I'm more of a bad person than is really there.

Mics/headsets have volume control on them so if you want to play witht he volume down and not hear annoying ppl you can do that and still be able to chat and warn others.

If it was an RPG then I could understand text chat... but it's a fast moving action mp game. By the time you have typed in a reply you are dead most likely. That's where voice is better than text...

What they DO need is some way to figure out who the hell is speaking. Nothing like someone saying "I NEED HELP OVER HERE" and you invariably ask "WHERE?" and they reply "OVER HERE".

Dude... even First Person Shooters ALL have text chat.
Its a minimum pre-requisite of ANY game... To not have the most basic form of communication in a game is.... stupid.

I've yet to encounter a lobby where more than two people even have their mic on, let alone USE THEM. This includes silver games.

With some common sense you can beat silver without it, as proven. Gold I don't know about but I got no intention of doing gold with random people anyway.

Not everyone has English as their main language, nor does everyone want to reveal their gender.

I don't mind text chat in the lobby.  In game I'm still on the fence about b/c ppl will start sexting eachother during gameplay and ruin it.

But using he excuse that text chat is good for warning players on the fly and what not is not viable.

The ppl who want text chat and don't have a mic want it b/c they feel left out that they can't communicate which is completely understandable.

But using the excuse that it would help gameplay and what not is a completely assinine.

I've done fine on Gold without one too. I have a mic, but I don't ever ever ever ever use it.

Me too. No problems at all. Mics are mostly a hindrance imo.

Seriously. If something totally important comes up, it's better to think fast and act swiftly than pause and talk about it.

I really really didn't expect this much hate for Mics. I suppose i've been lucky enough to never have had a mic abused before... but it has always enhanced whatever game I've played.

Whish is neither efficient nor even truly feasible on console.

That being said: I don't need a mic. I know where high priority targets are just by non-visual cues. They're loud and easilyt recognized.

My brain and hands work much more quickly than my mouth. By the time I can assemble a sentence to describe the situation succintly enough to make a difference I could have just gone and and applied sufficient assistance to resolve the situation in the first place.

Talking is not my strong point.

I've got a better idea.

It's called text chat and is used by every multiplayer co-op game out there.

Find people with mics then. Be sure they're the kind who don't have headphones and only use it for screaming really loud when they die.

Good thing a very large portion of the community isn't on console.

I dont have a mic and if someone doesnt want to play with me because i dont have one
then fine more power to you.. good luck.

that said i do understand the benefits of it and IF i had one i would probably use it..
however like another poster said here , there needs to be a indication who is saying what
for it to be effective sort of like a health bar setup with player names but with a icon
that lids up when someone speaks or you know when you run around you can see your
team member as Blue color thru walls etc.. make it green while there speaking or something.

anyways for now iam just fine wihtout a mic , text chat would still be a nice feature
eventough its not so effective while playing... typing means no shooting..
but i still think it can be handy also for in the lobby.

That's exactly what I think.  I rather not have to spend like 10 to 20 seconds trying to explain where a group of a banshee, a brute, and several cannibals are coming from.

I use a mic. But only very occasionally. Because inevitably I end up getting in a group with that guy - the one who after I say "Brute coming up the ramp" decides to talk to me the whole match about the most bizarre things. Sometimes friendly banter is cool. Not when it involves bugging the whole team.

I've never needed a mic to know what I am doing or whats around me, Be aware of your surroundings and if you hear a banshee scream or a brute roar assume there will be one near you.

I know this has been a constant topic here, but anyway....

Thinking everyone that plays online games is going to be annoying....until you meet those that aren't one after another.....is 1) not healthy and 2) hindering a MULTIPLAYER game.

It's such a pain to be blind sided by a Brute or something that someone could have warned me about.

No one is asking you to become deep in conversation with total strangers....but it would be nice to have teammates riather than mute pros.

I don't care if you're so good that you can carry a team without a mic.  I'd rather have 4 guys with a mic saying "Brute coming up the stairs!!!" or "Banshee on my ass, help!!!".

Why?  B/c eventhough you might carry a team...it's not fun covering a direction and thinking your teammates are right behind you doing the same in another direction only to find out that 1 or 2 or 3 ran off when 2 Brutes and a Ravenger came around the corner...only to be pummeled.

Edit: I 'm more or less talking about the PC.  I haven't been on LIVE in forever so I don't know what the community is like.

nope you dont sorry try again
