there a poll where 80% of people voted they disliked the ending because it wasn't a happy ending.
Really? I personally love bad endings because they are hard to come by. 95% of holliwood movies and 99% of games are good endings. Do we need more on the list?
On the other side, I agree the ending doesn't really make much sense to me.
What's your thoughts?
You hate the ending because it's not a happy ending or because it doesn't make any sense?

Both. Happy endings are great.
Edit: And I would argue that dark endings are far too prevalent these days. Too cliche'. It's harder to be happy than it is to be sad.

A bit of both. Mainly because the endings made zero sense but also because I would have liked the option of a "happy" ending, especially since it's something we've come to expect from Bioware games in general.

We want a choice of endings that range from good to bad so everyone can end their game how they want to.

the poll is worded oddly I think. The majority of the people holding the line dont want anything regarding rainbows/sprinkles/icecream etc. they just want a logical conclusion to the series. sad, happy, doesn't really matter. we want it to make sense for the story being told.

I'm not all that worried about getting a happy ending, just one that makes sense and is consistent with the rest of the narrative.
That said, why are some people so opposed to a happy ending? Seems like most people play games to take their mind off of real life, or to distract themselves, or to have fun. I don't know, it seems kind of backwards. There's nothing wrong with happy endings if they make sense and don't feel out of place or cheesy, just as there's nothing wrong with sad or bittersweet endings that don't feel out of place or hamfisted, like the ending in ME3.
Basically, all I'm saying is the execution matters far more then what mood the ending sets.

Wording of the poll is off.
Pretty much everyone just wants an ending that is consistent with the themes of the series, gives closure and actually makes sense.

Because it doesn't make sense for me. Given the magnitude of the reaper threat and that characters die regularly throughout the campaign it was pretty apparent a lot of people were going to die. That it ended up being most of the galaxy wasn't terribly surprising. It's only a little bit better than a total apocalypse, but that's really bioware's story to tell.
The wierd spacekidgod along with the huge plotholes that creates (they could have so easily avoided that...) and the ridiculously inconsistant normandy scene however... I didn't expect in a title like this - to put it mildly.
Edit: not to mention space magic turning all organics/synthetics into a new type of hybrid... this is probably even worse than the plotholes. How do you even try to explain that - letalone when some of said synthetics are pure software (geth) etc?

I'm personally not for a happy ending. But I completely understand that the choice should be open if somebody went full paragon (which I didn't). Full paragon should get you a happy ending, full renegade should get you a "happy ending" where you live and use the reapers as slaves or something. So it's still bad, but good for renegade. Anywhere in-between Shepard should die.

Because it doesn't make any sense and has a ridiculous amount of plot holes and oversights.
It's a war in which giant sentient machines are harvesting all organic life. I am not really expecting a fairy tale happy ending. But I certainly am expecting one that doesn't include Ghost God Machine Boy forcing me to pick three colors.

Both. The endings should make sense and be on the same level of quality as the rest of the story, and their should be a happy ending as well. like Sheppard lives happily ever after with his or her LI, and retires from the alliance to become head council ambassador for the galactic council.

It was more that the ability to get a happy ending based on your actions was absent that I was angry with. Ideally the endings should have had a golden happy ending, a dark ending where the Reapers win, and everything in between, and what you get is decided by what you did.
Also it was incredibly illogical.

I just wanted to know what the results of my Shepard's action were. Do the Geth turn on the Quarians? Do the Krogan remain peaceful or swear bloody vengeance on the Turians and Salarians? What about the Rachni? What happens now that the relays are gone? What happens to my crew? Do Wrex and Balaca ( i think that is Eve's name) have a little Krogan baby called Shepard?

I'm fine with a dark unhappy ending provided it makes logical sense.
THIS ENDING MADE NO SENSE AT ALL.

I hate the ending because there is no choice. There is no really bad ending, where you mess up so much that the reapers win, and there is no happy ending where everyone lives and all is groovy. No choice, no consequenses, no sense.

Don't like the endings because they are nonsensical.
I would be happy to have a sad ending, hell even an ending where everyone dies would be okay as long as it is done right.

I want an ending not filled with "space magic" that makes sense and where you actually have choice and where there are actually different endings. Don't care if the ending is happy or sad.

The fact that it didn't fit at all with everything leading up to it and the fact that it rendered your choices throughout the series totally irrelevant were my problems.
I don't like the Deus Ex style endings, in a player-choice RPG your choices in the game should determine the ending not some daft multiple choice quiz right at the end.
As for a happy ending, there should be a selection. Yes there should the James Bond style getting away with it and getting the girl ending, and a number of endings through to an abject failure ending.

Both. Though, that is not to say that there shouldn't be dark and in between endings as well. It should have been all about choice just like the whole series.

I hate it because the ending doesn't make sense. I wasn't expecting a happy ending. But I was expecting endings that weren't riddled with space magic and plotholes.
