You hate the ending because it's not a happy ending or because it doesn't make any sense?

I'm going to copy off Angryjoe, on one part. The endings make no sense and thus the hate, through to be frank, whats wrong with a happy ending, as a possible if you've built up an insane amount of EMS, and perhaps gone through a NG+ game, why not the happy ending, the army of little blue children and the rest? Whats wrong with that as actually being possible? Failing that through, they just make no sense:p

Both.
The game does HAVE to end on a happy not, but it should at least be possible.

They don't make sense. I could care less about how "happy" the endings are. A little less bleak hopelessness with everybody implied to die of starvation would be nice though.

Both.

I can accept Shepard dies if then end is worthwhile, but the plotholes are just to numerous to justify anything that happens.

But yeah, I'd like a happy ending with little baby Ashleys/Liaras/Talis running around because the truth is I busted my ass to do every mission and gather every race as a war resource.

And speaking of "busted my ass to do every mission and gather every race as a war resource" I think it is TOTAL BS that I can't get above 50% readiness on my first playthrough WITHOUT playing multi-player. WTF is that about?! Really, you're gonna force multi-player on me because you built it in and feel the need to make people use it?

Didn't you read the post? Happy endings are cliche. He wants sad endings. They're cool and rare.

My next purchase will be based on what upsets me the most.

Same. Hate the endings because it makes no sense nor it offers any closure what so ever. Happy ending isnt mandatory but as Joe said, why NOT have happy ending? As an option if you work really REALLY hard?

This.

Exact ... I don't want "Fatalism" in a RPG or Strategy game, I would have accepted it, in an adventure game or digital book, movie.

A) Doesn't make sense
B) Riddled with plot holes and circular logic
C) Doesn't take choices made in prior games into account, like curing the Genophage and ending the Geth-Quarian war did.
D) Does not provide a nice epilogue so we can see the aftermath of such a devastating war and so we can also see what happens to all the characters that do survive it because, ya know, it'd be nice to have closure because we care about them.

Doesn't bother me if Shepard lives or dies - it is what it is.

there a poll where 80% of people voted they disliked the ending because it wasn't a happy ending.

Really? I personally love bad endings because they are hard to come by. 95% of holliwood movies and 99% of games are good endings. Do we need more on the list?

On the other side, I agree the ending doesn't really make much sense to me.

What's your thoughts?

honestly i wanted a happy ending , but think i could stomach it, as long as there weren't more plotholes in the last 10 minutes than the rest of the trilogy combined

I liked that there was "bad" and "neutral" choices. I don't like that there is no "good" choice(s) and I don't like that there is so many lore, logic and plot holes in the current endings. Seriously, did the writers that worked on the endings actually see the rest of the scripts?

I didn't need a happy ending, but I did need the ending to make sense. From that perspective, I'm disappointed (hate is a strong word). I'm not pleased with Joker's wild ride.

Because it doesn't make any sense in regards to the rest of the series or Shep's character. Deluded spacegodkid with his insane idea, yeah I can accept, as well as galaxy being sent back to the stone age.
But what about your acquintances, what happened to 'em?
Also, no other option: aka Shepard kicking the kid to darkspace and beyond?
And yeah space magic sucks ass balls.

A good ending should be an option. Especially because right now, the endings (which are massively evil) come as waaaay to big a shock.

Both. Happy endings are great.

Edit: And I would argue that dark endings are far too prevalent these days.  Too cliche'.  It's harder to be happy than it is to be sad.

Like most people, my objections are:

1) Doesn't make sense (plot holes everywhere).

2) Unfulfilling (don't know how it turned out).

Both.

The ending should make sense, and I have should have the choice to have a happy ending.

I feel like I posting the same thing in every thread, but it's all about choice. If people want Shepard to sacrifice for the greater good, then they should have that choice. There should also be an option to totally and completely fail if you don't take the proper time to prepare for the battle.

I should also have the option, if I work hard in the game, to have a "happy" ending. Don't see the big problem here.

Both reasons.

I want what ive done over 3 games to actually have a say on the ending. I want to be able to have a happy ending if i work hard enough at it.

I didn't like the ending because there was no closure, no consequence. An ending similar to DA:O would have been great, seeing the consequences of your actions and choices. It's this, not about not having a "happy" ending. I choose to sacrifice my character in DA:O, so it isn't only about Shepard living or not.

Yeah, a little both. All three endings were just way too depressing, and it really didn't make any sense either... Hm, Could do better with a more positive ending.

I would be fine with a bittersweet ending. Shepard dying, but with the right amount of EMS, the choices we made show up at the end. And i really dont want to use my imagination to infer it. Having a Happy Shepard living ending would be ideal but i can manage with a ending where f you do everything right, and ended several conflicts, that you would see the end result of that.. Not just part of your crew stranded on a unknown planet, and nothing afterwards.

I'd like a happy ending. I want Shepard to get his well earned rest. Maybe that's just me, but I like the characters so much that I want them to get a chance to be happy (it does have to be happy, but there should be a possibility). I couldn't care less for a happy ending in any other game, but not in this case.
Also, a sad ending would make me want to stop playing the game (with my other Shepards). And it did, but I still have hope for a fix.

Mainly because it makes no sense and has no closure.

Not being happy is a distance third.
