During the Broken Circle quest players encounter Wynn, who they are forced to take along with them through the tower. The only way to annul the circle without slaying Wynn is to refuse Cullen's arguments. If one agrees with Cullen's arguments then Wynn tries to stop you and is killed.

Since this is the case, players should get a replacement for Wynn. Cullen should be that replacement, and possibly an alternative to Wynn when deciding whether to take Wynn alone at the end of the mission. There could be a line that says "I'd rather take Cullen instead."

If it's at all possible to do this, it would be a great change to the game.

We already have a Templar party member, though - Alistair. You can even have two, if you include the PC, so what purpose would a third serve?

Multiple mages makes sense because there are such different routes available, but multiple templars?

That would be fighter number 4? 5? O_o

I don't see the point, honestly...

Heh, I guess once you hit lvl 14 you could even make Sten and Oghren into templars. Holy gang-smiting.

Yes, everyone must be a Templar.

In fact I'll use a mod and make Morrigan a Templar.

*Morrigan disapproves -100*

A much better option would have been taking Uldred with you. Or some abomination. Allying with Uldred would have abominations replacing templars and mages in the final battle. And I dislike situations that only have 2 choices, since they will always be seen in a manichean perspective.

If you play as a female mage, Cullen is obsessed with your character, despite his extreme hatred of mages. It's fun to call him on it in the origin story and watch him freak out, but I'd be kind of scared to bring him along with the party, my character might wake up in camp to find Cullen sniffing her hair.

I love Cullen's character. I sided with the Templars once to make him happy.

I really thought there was going to be an option to ally with Uldred based on how he was talking, I was actually quite disappointed by the absence of such a choice. Especially once it was made clear by Avernus that the darkspawn are completely alien to demons, and as such demons might even have a vested interest in stopping a blight.

It was clear Cullen was in love with my female mage. The origin had him nervous and unable to speak, and when he was in the cage, he was cursing me for being the demon that summoned the one thing he ever wanted. I sided with the mages, and in my epilogue, Cullen snapped and went on a murdering rampage in the circle.

I was horrified. Awww! Cullen! Nooo! Don't do thaaaat!

More characters are always nice, but I'd prefer a mage or rogue archetype over yet another [templar-]warrior. We already have three (Oghren, Sten, Alistair), whereas we're limited to only two mages (Wynne, Morrigan) and rogues (Leliana, Zevran). Shale and Dog are sort of warrior-ish too, at least in function (high-hp melee-dps without the ability to stealth, disarm, backstab, etc.).

I know!  I swear, men die an awful lot just due to gender issues in this game.  Enough to make a girl very careful who she talks to.

I'd rather have Jowan, really. A mage for a mage. Seriously, I don't need more fighters. There are plenty.

I felt bad that my mage couldn't talk to him after the Broken Circle quest (all you get when you click on him was a generic response).  He was obviously already very conflicted, but seeing all his brother templars die pushed over the edge.  If you could have at least said some comforting words to him, to let him know that all mages aren't abominations waiting to happen, it would have been nice.  As it was you watched him make this huge confession that he loved the PC mage, and your only response choices were snarky or "I'm not hearing this".  Kind of cold, IMO.

Yeah, it was a real drive by.  I felt bad and his voice acting was so good, in the tortured delivery in the cage and also  "I just wish I could have gone with them...to fight."

Cullen's one of my favorite side characters.  I'd be happy to have more Cullen around.  It's one of the most touching parts of the female mage origin story.

I think Cullen would be a fine addition. I mean, sure, you have Alistair who is a Templar, but it would be nice to have Cullen along to. He wouldn't be sword in board, as it looks like he uses a very large two-hander sword (sure, you have Oghren and Sten, but couldn't you just pass up Sten?). Besides, with Cullen on board, you could focus on maxxing his Templar abilities while putting Alistair's to use in his Warrior/Sword and Sheild trees and maxxing them out.

Besides, with a Mage, it would be a great thing to have and I would love to see if you couldn't make him renounce his vows as a Templar and have a relationship with him. There's just too much character development for him to go to waste like that.

And if you think about it, it's fair. If you side with Templars, you get screwed out of a party member, because you have to kill Wynne, the most handy healer in the game. If you spec yourself healer as Mage, then side Templars, you should be able to at least make up the difference with the extra party member. That way, you've got extra damage while you stand back and throw heals.

Well, there is a problem : templars can't heal...

I hope they will implement one day Jowan like Gaider said in antoher topic.

Though, I don't like Jowan personality :\\

I like it!

Though it wouldn't work in terms of recruitment since you'd have to kill all the mages AND the templars.  Plus a Demon Army wouldn't work since Rage Demons tend to go crazy and the Shade Demons love possessing people

Surely it'd be uber difficult to implement new characters now? Wouldn't they need to bring back every other companion + a number of NPCs to record responses to the new NPC? ie, on-the-road banter, input during quests, etc.

You're probably right, it's t bad i wanted to have new companions, Shale was realy insteresting and was the only one sharing Sten thoughs about humans. Sten was more talktative thanks to Shale.

yeah with how they made it so healers are only mages if the PC isn't a mage and wynn dies that leaves just morrigan. It would have been nice if Templar had some sort of healing ability at the cost of being a DPS or as in allistairs case a tank.
