Maybe if BioWare had made it possible to play a cleric-style warrior/healer (yes, yes, I know, this isn't D&D), Cullen could have been that sort of templar, and then if you decided to kill Wynne and side with Cullen and the templars, you could still leave the Tower with a dedicated healer in your party.

But alas, they didn't go that route. Oh well.

Templars are warriors... do we really need another warrior companion when we are lacking mage and rogue companion variety?

I'm actually very fond of this idea, but it is simply not happening. Too bad, really.

I understand that some people believe yet another templar may be unnecessary, but I think character personalities play such a huge part in your playing experience. For myself, I alternate between characters not because of their classes but because I enjoy having them in my party, due to the traits and party banter. Having Cullen would add a new, interesting dimension, I think. But more than that... it just seems like his character is too good to simply have him offer the same line over and over again. There is tremendous potential for an interesting story there... Well, we'll see where this goes. Bump.

Thank you! It's so hard to get people to see it this way, and I think it's kinda pointless anymore to keep telling them "For the RP aspect alone, it would be nice." I mean, heck, if you side with the Templars anyways for the achievement, you're going to have to beat the game without Wynne, so get used to not having a healer and deal with the prospect that it would be nice to have Cullen around anyways! :P

But yes, that's what I've been getting at! It would be great to have Cullen around to talk to. Hell, it would be great that if Tamlen didn't get screwed up that he could have joined later on. But eh, things happen! Thanks for bumping and beleiving!

Let's be honest here... We'd all like to have him just for that one, awkward "Why are you sniffing my hair, Cullen?" cutscene. Awkward, yet so sweet and satisfying. Like cinnabuns.

And I think I could actually fork out some serious cash for a Cullen and Alistair jealousy scene. Though it would probably take half an hour just for the embarrased stuttering.

Now I have all kinds of ff in my head where I find Cullen sniffing my hair and popping up out of bushes.

"I love you! Die mage!"

No need to be shy about erm... sharing the fruits of your labour. Purely for the benefit of spell checking purposes. Quality assurance, yes.

That would be creepy, but Bioware games need more stalkers.

As one of the other users said on this board, "You smell like home."

Hee hee, I can just see it now XD.

Amell: You! I SEE YOU THERE IN THE BUSHES!

Cullen: I-I am not...in-in the bushes, I mean. Y-you should be in the tower where I can k-keep an eye on you!

Amell: You're doing fine keeping an eye on me as is! Or are the lenses of those binoculars too dirty to see out of from all your heavy breathing?

Cullen: H-hey! You would breathe heavy too...if you were chasing...apostates. *realizes argument is futile* Fine, I-I was following you. *pause* Lemme sniff your hair!

While I agree that having Cullen as a possible recruit is interesting, it's more than likely not going to be done outside of the modding scene. From what I've gathered, most of you want to have Cullen also be a romance option. That would create an imbalance. Males get three options, females get four.

That means Bioware would have to introduce another companion/interest for males, with completely new dialogue, history, and have all the other VAs come in to help supplement it. Unless Cullen can suddenly develop bisexual urges. However, it all adds up to more work for Bioware, and I can't see them thinking it's worth the production costs.

Perhaps it could be done in a lengthy expansion. Add in the Cullen possibility for new players passing by the Circle tower, and have the new female companion added as part of the expansion's storyline. Otherwise, I suggest an experienced modder get to work.

i'd say we could use 3 characters for each type of pc: a good, a neutral and an evil character. there are fighters enough but how many are preset to use a shield and is rapidly available? only one really and you are stuck with him for the rest of the story, while we do have 2 dual wielders. there are 2 mages but if you're not careful they're incompatible very fast and you are not even allowed to use one of them for their personal quest.

currently it's highly problematic to make some of the choices because they'll affect your party composition with the current number of pcs and on the other hand they each also have their own characters and if you do not like that then your options are even more limited.

Dont mind other/more options for a more diverse team of companions at all. But from reading this thread its strikes me that some think Cullen is a "deep" character....Hmm I can think of many that are much more interesting really. This is sounding more like a woman thing, trying to add one more guy to really treat her as a godess to me.

I agree there can be some potential in there but frankly its more a ego thing among some "hurt" players, thats my interpuration of this thread anyway.

There are however some great ideas in this thread that I like more than this "whining".

We find Cullen "deep" and interesting because we played female mages. I mean how can you not find a templar who's in love with a mage interesting and want to know more about him. Image IPB

There are several of the NPCs that appear in the origin storys and then later in the game that could work as NPCs. Jowan and Cullen being two of them. You can even play as Jowan for a while if you pick him as the mage going into the fade to save Conner.

However it would be lots of work for Bioware to implement this, so it's probably unlikely outside of an regular expansion. I doubt that they would want to release party NPCs that does not have banter with the others, that talk during quests, gifts and have their own quest. And if we just want a basic joinable NPC without most of that, then the modding community can do that.

It was clear Cullen was in love with my female mage. The origin had him nervous and unable to speak, and when he was in the cage, he was cursing me for being the demon that summoned the one thing he ever wanted. I sided with the mages, and in my epilogue, Cullen snapped and went on a murdering rampage in the circle.

I was horrified. Awww! Cullen! Nooo! Don't do thaaaat!

Dang. Now I have to make a girl mage. I already got cheated out of the pretty robes by being a dude, I hear.

I got the crazy-Cullen ending too.

I have to agree that i do not need another melee class ort even anothe rogue, i would prefer another mage to replace the one that walks out on you.

Ok who would you suggest as an alternative to Wynn if you Annul the tower?

Um NOBODY.  Sort of like how you can hate Zevran for trying to kill you and not have an assasin in the party...by slitting his throat...:o

And there could be an alternative for Zevran but there's no in game PC to point to and say "That" so it would have to be fabricated from the ground up.

Isabella.

It would just be nice for them to put in at least some sort of end to the relationship. Cullen being a Mage hater, doesn't really cut it. Sure, he's mad, he hates mages, he thinks they should die. But your mage wasn't there, and she ends the fight, so that doesn't mean he's going to hate her too. Or even stay mad at her.

Look at the Dalish origin, you get some closure to that "relationship" later on in the game. That's great, I felt completely satisfied them. If Cullen could only give you some resolve, that would be great.

When playing a female mage PC, I was hoping to see him snap in the game (instead of just the epilogue).  I wanted to see him try to attack me for becoming a Blood Mage, or maybe go after Morrigan because she was an apostate.  You could have closure, AND a miniboss fight.

Personally I'd buy a DLC that allowed me to impale the whiny coward on a spike. Listening to him yap about how all the mages need to be exterminated just because lil' Cullen didn't do his job and 'resisted' by sitting on his arse waving his hands about.

Good lord, what a pansy. I actually found myself liking Gregoir when the old geezer told Cullen to shut up.

Cullen, Shianni, Leske, and the Dalish origin keeper's apprentice are all characters they just sort of drop. That's a Warrior, two rogues and a mage froma mechanical standpoint, and some pretty intriguing characters for roleplaying.

You know I just finished a game as a female mage and I didn't get the Cullen snapped and went berserk epilogue... nothing. Could it be dependent on what you say to him when he's still caged? Or did I hit a bug?

Also I thought it interesting when he speaks about killing all the mages (while he's still caged) that he doesn't include the PC in this. If you use the dialog "I'm a mage, too." he replies "But you've not been up there."

Yeah, he's a great character and all they give him is this repeated line that only makes sense if you side with the Templars. At least Tamlen gets a follow through. Hell, I would have even been glad if Cullen could have shown up as your regret in the Gauntlet. That would have given me some closure too.

An apostate hunting DLC would be kinda fun with him. I'd just be happy to have his story at least taken a little further, because like I've been saying. They give him sooo much character growth and just leave him there, Jowan doesn't even get character growth, he keeps the same bumbling personality all the way through, and yet they had considered him for a party member. So it's just... I dunno.
