I have no idea which class to choose.
I like the Adrenaline Rush and the regular guy versus machine gods aspect of the Soldier.
I like the Charge and being able to pull the enemy out of cover to blast them with a shotgun as a Vanguard.
I like the fact that you can wreck anything without firing a single shot as an Adept.
I like the idea of an Engineer, damn you Dead Space.
Any suggestions? I seriously can't deicide.
Im about to start a complete playthrough of the trilogy, and...

Hm, that certainly was interesting. At first I honestly thought that was an Adept lol.
But I don't know.
I was wondering how viable was a pistol only Engineer or Adept, but then I realised that I would be hindering myself.
EDIT: So I deicided to play a Vanguard, hah.

In ME1 pistol only is more than adequate. Pistol only in ME2 is certainly hindering yourself due to the ammo capacity and the mechanics of defenses. You need the right tool for the right job there. Of course you could do it.
If you have already played through the games then take whatever class you haven't tried yet. I never played Sentinel or Vanguard in ME1, even though I beat the game more than enough times that I probably could have. Otherwise, I had fun with more or less every class I played in both games.

Start in ME1 as a sentinel.
Regular guy with serious boosts. Plus you can't use crap for weapons XD

played all 3 with a infiltrator, was enjoyable. Played vanguard in 1 and liked it but found it to be pretty OPered and arguably 1 dimensional in in terms of playstyle (CHARGE!) ended up restarting as an Adept, going to go 1-3 as a Assault riffle adept.

I just finished ME1 as an Infiltrator, and so far Im liking it. Never played one, but it's fun sniping people from afar.

In ME1, I had a ton of fun playing a Sentinel with Shotguns, a Vanguard with Singularity, a Soldier with Lift, and an Adept.
In ME2, I had a ton of fun playing Vanguard with Slam, a shotgun Infiltrator with Neural Shock, a Widow Infiltrator with Warp Ammo, a shotgun Engineer with Neural Shock, a Revenant Soldier, and a shotgun Sentinel with Energy Drain.
ME3 is still a work in progress.
Suffice to say, I can't really help you narrow it down.
My theory is PLAY ALL THE BUILDS

the most powerful ac in me1 was the adept. you can perma lift saren and ne never shoots you. ever.
in me2 it was arguably the infiltrator with a widow
me3 they are quite balanced.
since when you import you can change your class, i would go adept/infiltrator/whatever

Well, I've tried the Adept and it was really awesome, and Im kinda tired of playing combat classes (Soldier,Infiltrator,Vanguard). Now I can't decide between Adept and Engineer.

I don't like Adepts because they're not very good against enemies with protection. And enemies without protection are generally easy enough to gun down with any other class.
I'm playing as an engineer now and I really like it. It really feels like you're controlling the battlefield, you just have to be a little patient behind cover. But you have the abilities to overload shields, burn away armor, (I use jack's squad warp ammo for barriers), and abilities to distract like the combat drone, ai hacking, and dominate synergizes well as a bonus power.
The engineer is equipped to basically handle anything, you just have to put some thought into it what you're doing by prioritizing your targets correctly and using the right power in the right situation. I prefer the engineer over the adept because the engineer excels at bringing down defenses and distracting tough enemies. Both skills can be invaluable in tough fights and can make them considerably easier (the Harbinger in all the Collector fights is a non-factor. You just keep a combat drone on him and he'll completely ignore you and your squad). The adept, on the other hand, excels in killing guys without protection...big whoop. Any other class does that just fine with a gun and the engineer's incinerate and cyro blast aren't too shabby either.
I guess the main difference is the engineer generally focuses on one target at a time while the adept can cc. But as an engineer you can tie up enemies with the combat drone and hack or dominate (depending if you're fighting a synthetic or organic and took dominate as a bonus or loyalty power) a target and not only do you take 2 enemies out of the fight right there, but more enemies will ignore you and your squad to go after the hacked guy. Rinse, repeat, you can get through some fights and barely get shot at while they fight amongst themselves or go after the drone. If you use your head, the engineer has good cc, it's just not 1-button cc like the adept.

Oh, come on, not this again. It's been two years already, will people ever stop with the "adepts suck against protected enemies" stuff?morguen87 wrote...

That's been discussed to death and I'm not going to discuss it once again. I'll just link a topic about adepts and say that the vast majority of enemies have more health than armor/barriers/shields.

Adept powers don't work against any enemies with protection. That's it, bottom line. I don't see how you can argue against that.
You could argue stripping away protection is easy enough, but that sounds like an engineer's job to me.
If you're facing a tough enemy with shield-armor-health or whatever, by the time you get it down to only health it should be a cakewalk with any decent weapon.
In other words, I'd rather have powers that strip protection than have to strip protection myself then have powers to finish them off....finishing them off is the easiest part. I'd rather have powers for the hard part. And it's not like the engineer's powers only work on protection, incinerate and cyro blast can both work wonders on non protected enemies.
Adept powers, on the other hand, only work on enemies without protection.
Soldiers, Infiltrators, or even Sentinels probably look at Adept v Engineer as a cripple fight; hell I know nobody plays engineer, but I'll take the versatility of the engineer over the adept all day.

Well, following that logic, I don't need an engineer to remove protections and then finish enemies off since I can play a vanguard and kill enemies with a Claymore shot. Or a soldier/infiltrator with Widow. Different classes are... different.
Removing protections take one click against most enemies, and as I said, most have a higher health pool. Singularity works with protections, BTW. It doesn't send enemies flying, but it controls them. And companions exist, if removing shields is an engineer's job, then bring an engineer with you.
Do you prefer engineer? That's cool, I'm not comparing adept vs anything, I'm just replying to the good old "adepts suck if enemies have protections" or the "an unprotected enemy is a dead enemy" arguments. But as I said, that's been discussed plenty of times before and I don't feel like doing it again.

Yeah if only Singularity worked on protected enemies. If only Warp did double damage to barriers and armor.
