It isn't fair that *very minor spoilers* Steve and Samantha are exclusive to one sex.

But then again, does anyone actually have a living Kaidan? Least impactful decision ever, I was glad to be rid of him. If only I could dump James Vega on a planet and nuke it, too. PENDEJO.

And it should be like that. But they did make Kaidan bi.

A mistake IMO. But at least it's easy to avoid.

For me it was a mistake not to have him bi (or even better gay) in ME1 already. That guy always struck me as the stereotypical gay.

Why would you sacrifice Kaidan and not Ashley? The one is a whiny sissy who would probably watch Twilight in Cinema, but the other is an anti-alien religious fanatic. Not a hard choice imo.

I have a living Kaidan. Saved him to avoid picking between Miranda and Ash as my LI in ME3.

Thats just it- There's OTHER reasons why a FemShep player might've sacrificed Kaidan-

A. They didn't like him and were hoping for another option later
B. They did it for the weight of the story
C. Preferred Ashley(may have even desired her as a future romance option)

etc etc

Fact is, if Kaidan was sacrficed and Garrus died, FemShep is left with no straight romance to take with them all the way to the end.

You know, cause Thane died and Jacob's a bastard(FemShep said it, not me).

That leaves FemShep with Liara and Samantha. I'd feel odd if I was a woman playing a FemShep who was sexually straight.

Ashley could have been a Jehova's Witness who constantly made blatantly offensive alien jokes to everyone's embarassment, and I'd still pick her over Kaidan. The guy was just plain annoying. From his boyband looks and Elvis haircut to his obnoxious "troubled nice guy with dark past (and migraines) image and constant whining.

So I guess, unless your straight Ladyshepard is attracted to the above attributes, she's just not finding everlasting space love unless you're into aliens. And even then, they can die if you mess up. And the most eligible bachelor in space is terminally ill anyway.

Well you shouldn't be perfectly fine, additudes like that are what help bring about this mess. Give me a good reason why Steve and Samantha should strictly be gay romance options.

Because those characters are gay and not straight or bi? Heaven forbid a character be a character.

But look, most of ME2 LIs were given just small roles, with exceptions of Tali and Garrus. And it's harder to get anyone killed in SM than keep them alive.

Now lets look at how many heterosexual relationships MaleShep has in the worst case scenario-

If Ashley was sacrificed(like that ever happens) and Tali died, that leaves Liara. Miranda and Jack as well, although not as fleshed out.

Miranda and Jack CAN die in ME3, so if you remove them, that leaves just Liara.

So in worst case scenarios, MaleShep has at least ONE heterosexual relationship available from start to finish, while FemShep's got nothing.

I hope FemShep reads A Song of Ice and Fire, because it seems she might have to reenact Daenerys and Irri's lovemaking scene from the third book, including the feeling of guilt post-event.

I like Cortez's response to my FemShep. I don't think I would of liked him as much had he been a potential love interest.

I also think that a nice balance of wholly straight, wholly gay and bi-sexuals is good. I don't want every person throwing themselves at me.

My FemShep did. It added alot of richness to the character.

Maybe you're looking at it the wrong way. Both male and female Shepard have only Liara as a certain LI from start to finish.

My point is that Liara is sexually a girl.

Meaning that MaleShep has a hetero option all the way to the end and FemShep does not.

I'm a guy who plays MaleSheps, but I'm trying to stand up for the FemShep players out there who feel a little bummed out that they can't have a guaranteed male romance option at the end of ME3.

Every single LI should have been bi from the beginning.

Hmmm, OP. Think back to Miranda, Jacob, Ashley, Thane, Jack, and that compromised ME1 version of Kaidan. Also certain outcomes of Gianna and Shiala. Whine about unfair again.

I think the intent in this case was to appease the various fans who felt the game needed openly (and exclusively) homosexual characters. Personally it's a non-issue for me since I wasn't particularly interested in either character as a potential LI (well, maybe Samantha... a bit).

Still though I feel it was healthy for my Shepard to have one friendship with a female crew member other than Dr. Chakwas that wasn't colored with a little sexual tension. Just my 2 cents.

I like Samantha for her accent, but if you pretend Shepard's not deliberately blowing her off but rather just doesn't get it when she makes her move, it's a hilarious scene. And she doesn't go off and sulk if you do, she'll settle for being friends instead.

I think the key to making romance options bisexual while not making it seem cheap is to not make the romance options obvious.

If a character is naturally a strong willed, open, powerfully characterized person, he/she should approach the PC about entering a romantic relationship.

If a character is naturally a weak willed, closed, lighter characterized person, he/she should remain silent about romantic opportunities, meaning the PC would have to push to figure out if they are at all available.

For example, if it was done differently-

Ashley would come up to you and try to seduce you or at the very least hint that she's interested in you, while Tali and Liara would not drop a single hint at all and would only return the affection if you bring it to their attention first.

Something like that.

Actually not, and she even says so somewhere in ME1 (I believe it is when you romance her and Kaidan at the same time and he is like "lol I didn't think you're ******, Shep" and Liara is like "well I'm not really female, so stfu".

They probably meant that they guarantee that game will allow you to have at least one straight LI for FemShep all the way to the end.
Anyway, this whole discussion is pointless since you can make Garrus/Kaidan/Jacob survive if you really want to.
You knew even before ME3 that all of them can die in SM.

You CAN. Doesn't mean that it'll ALWAYS be that way. That's my point.

Hell, even a new player in ME3 can screw themselves if they choose Kaidan as the sacrifice before they start their game.

Unless Garrus is available to new FemSheps.
