Actually, only about 1% of the world's population is gay. Bioware panders to that 1% it seems. I don't care who is gay, I just don't want the gay agenda shoved down my throat. And the game should reflect a realistic gay population instead of having 50%+ of the characters in the game gay.

Oh, having the game select a sexuality for the player is one of the worst suggestions I've ever seen.  If I wanted to role play a gay character I would. Having a flag at the beginning of the game would be nice.

Where do you even get your statistics from? It's around 10%, and that's not counting people in the closet who fear for their lives because it's "wrong" in their religion or culture. Also the fact that EVERYONE is at neither extremes of 100% straight or 100% homosexual.

Although this is not supported by statistics or fact. There has been some scientific study saying that most people are at least bi-curious. Meaning they have some curiousity about what it's like to be with someone of the same gender or opposite if you like women or like men exclusively depending on your own gender and sexual orientation.

Again some studies but no actual proof or fact to back it up yet. Just some food for thought.

They should have made the game more realistic, and randomly selected your sexuality for you at the start of the game, without you being aware of it.

It probably hasn't been done for the same reasons you often get options to pick your gender, facial features, etc. in your average RPG:

RPG gamers will generally prefer player choice over genetic roulette. I'd be up for it, but the majority would boo it off the stage. It's a control thing.

So, for example, a fifth of the Shepards in Mass Effect 3 might find out that they've actually been in the closet all along (if not earlier in the series).

Why has no RPG done this yet?

2 gay romonces out of a possible 13 romances = half of population in the game is gay.

Seems legit.

I know I'd hate it, that's for sure.

I think players generally want more control over their options in game.

Samantha Traynor never came on to my femshep once. IMO there was no throat shoving or gay agenda.

I chortle mightily at the OP's discomfort. Gleefully, even. And I love that the game doesn't allow Shepard to be a homophobic douchebag when Teh Ghey comes up. I bet that really sticks in the craw. Again, chortling over here.

They are easy to avoid if you romanced someone else before. The game is out, you're just gonna have to deal with it.

Not true. I hooked up with Tali in ME2 and when Kaiden came back in ME3, he was all in love with me.

Because Kaiden was in love with you in ME1.

Oh yes. Even then.

That is a completely ridiculous thing to say.  You can't even get an approximate figure in a developed country let alone in other countries where homosexuality is illegal or where there is huge discrimination.

That's interesting, in mine she definately did, she wanted to use my shower and then made flirty remarks whilst only wearing her underwear.

2?  I thought you could have gay romances with Garrus and Kaiden as well?

....wha....50% of the characters are homosexual? There are two bisexuals and two homosexuals. I got news for ya: there are a lot more then 8  characters in this game.

(and I still maintain that close to 90% of the population is actually bisexual)

I hope not, further equality and openess about sexuality in the future would mean our exctintion.  And besides that doesn't make sense from an evolution point of view if 90% of us were bisexual.

Okay so the fact that all romance led dialogues basically go like this

LI: Hey Shep
Shep:
>I WANT TO JUMP YOUR BONES
>Hey
>GTFO

Is somehow not clear enough for you?

I didnt have anyone hit on me in any game. Sadly. (Forever alone even in RPGs, dammit!)

But anyways, I dont see how such an option would hurt, so +1.

Men having nipples doesnt make sense from an evolutionary PoV either.

Still almost 100% of men have them.

Okay,I just know I hooked up with Miranda and Kaidan never tried anything nor there was such option. And I talked with him every chance I got.

Just going to correct you there, 10% of the population is openly gay. Now the distribution of those people isn't even due to the stances of different governments but just because you personally live in an African totalitarian government where all gays are murdered, doesn't mean that people are less of afraid of other people's bits in other places.

I'll take a gay toggle at the beginning of the game if it makes all the LIs bi.

Aside from the fact that only 1 species of primate aside from humans have shown to not be predominantly bisexual in their culture, as well as numerous other species in other animal branches.

I was actually worried that James was gay the entire game so I always felt uncomfortable when in conversations with him. I'm still unsure what he is.
