Just a little trend I've noticed,  going back all the way to Baldur's Gate 2....

Baldur's Gate 2:  We got the first trifecta of Mystic Elf Clerics... Party Healer, Love Interest with different shades of personality.  First time out of the box... forgiveable....

Neverwinter Nights:  Aribeth... oh lord... Aribeth...  Some major ball dropping here, IMHO.  Mystic Elf woman, again... and the love interest went absolutely nowhere... grumble...  (At least there were modding tools, and some people followed up on it decently...)

HOTU:  Nathyrra... ugh... elf... assassin... who happens to be a devoted follower of a god... oh for the love of, ANOTHER friggin cleric?

KOTOR:  FINALLY... She's not an elf.   Bastila's Just... mystic... with a mental connection to your...  moving on...

Jade Empire:  2 martial artists... just waiting for it... oh... they're NOT clerics... of any kind... into three-ways?  I'm...    THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER!  WHAT'S NEXT!!! CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Mass Effect!  2 Chances here!  ASH! Totally different... ok the religion thing's mentioned once....  the other... oh lord, we're going here AGAIN with Liara?  Mind-melding, goddess mentions... ok, I'm calling it... another fricking cleric.

Dragon age Origins:  OK 2 Love interests!  Neither one's an elf... wait...   one's a cleric.... grumble... and the other one is into dark rituals...  oh lord...  This again?

Mass Effect 2:  Cringes...  3 choices... all right, which one's the cleric?  None?  Miranda... ok, nothing there (Except that whole "I'm magic" thing she's got going on)  Tali...  NICE change... if the fans hadn't demanded it...  would that even be an option...  Jack... ok, she's gotta be the...  nothing?  She gives me attitude?  I actually have to THINK to romance her and can't just GO for it?  WHOOT  I'm in Love!  This is the Best thing EVER!!!  Oh... and they brought back the Cleric with DLC... ok, whatever...

Dragon Age 2:  Really... Merril?   AGAIN!...  well, at least we have Isabella... oh god... never mind... ugh...

Mass Effect 3:  At least they had the decency to give us some more choices... but they invalidated them all by giving us only Liara special scenes...  sigh...

So, There's a bit of a trend...   One that seems to repeat constantly...
