A few days ago, people posted about the Retake Mass Effect campaign. And what was once a small minority who fought for new endings, has vastly become a majority who have raised over 60,000 dollars for charity. Our actions have caught sight of places like Forbes and CNN.

Here is the link for the charity: http://retakemasseff...ect-childs-play

As someone once said on here, “Entitlement”
is a dangerous, dismissive word. As was very well put by a Forbes article
earlier, entitlement implies that you believe that you have a right to
something to which you have no right. The term is thrown at young people these
days whenever they voice a complaint about, well -- anything. It accomplishes
nothing but to build up walls, and to damage relationships.

The very problem we have is that we loved this game. We really did. And that's why we are so passionate to having an appropriate ending that really gives this series what it deserves. An ending that matches just how exciting our journey was. Something that makes us feel accomplished. No one is asking for an ending with puppies and rainbows, but they want something that makes them feel satisfied. Something that makes them lean back in their chair at the end game, and say, "Now THAT[/i] was an adventure."

This song reflects everything I want to feel at the end of a good game.

I think it is awesome that this push for a better ending is also generating a lot of money for a great cause. That is the way you go about trying to change something. Whiners? Hardly.

Exactly how I see it too. Generating money for charity is in no way, a bad thing. This shows that we are not children, but adults fighting for something we are passionate about, in a civil, adult manner.

Doesn't hurt to be civil about something and help out a good cause as well.

I'd wager that the dissenting voices from within the community at large just don't understand the crux of our complaint. It isn't the "unhappyness" that's got us upset, it's the unfulfilled promises made by the developer and the DLC gouging over the years and the gaming media talking down to us and telling us our opinions are wrong...

Honestly guys, give us a shot. We're not being unreasonable here, and who would you rather stand with? EA? The Man? Or with your brothers & sisters in the gaming community? Think about it.

I had never heard of the charity before the uproar. Even so, I've given money to charitable causes before. While I was in the military I used to donate a portion of paycheck to a charity for blind war veterans. In short, don't assume.

At least it's better doing something constructive with our depression, then just whining about it and swearing at Devs. Hell, one fan was SO passionate, they donated 10,000 dollars to this cause!

What entitlement?

Mass Effect is an ongoing commercial enterprise where the developers are hoping to sell us future downloadable content. As potential paying customers for that downloadable content, we have a right to say what we are, or aren't interested in purchasing. We have a right to say that we aren't interested in purchasing any DLC that does not also include a more satisfying ending.

Bioware isn't obligated to do anything, but if they value their business, it'd be in their best interest to comply with their fans and customers that have stood with them and the Mass Effect series for five years. This is a chance for them to improve their image and show players that they haven't adopted EA's "money is everything" theology. I haven't lost faith that Bioware has talented writers capable of writing a fitting ending to an epic game and amazing series. They just need to admit that they dropped the ball and announce and ending fixing DLC rather than side-stepping us with empty statements that don't tell us anything we don't already know and special events like N7 Weekend.

I respect the opinions of those who enjoyed the ending and/or oppose the movement, but I respectfully disagree. We must remain civil and respectful while also being vigilant and determined. Hold the line.

Indeed. I don't see the point of playing DLC, if the ending remains the same. It only means that anything we play in DLC if done before the final act, makes it just as meaningless as the rest of the game.

Well considering Bioware is owned by EA they have no right to do anything beyond what EA allows them. So basically we are demanding to get EA to get Bioware to change the endings.

Since when is the song angsty? Why don't you have a listen? Just because people enjoyed a series, doesn't make them "emo". Secondly, emo is a style and genre of music. Not about cutting yourself, etc.

The reaction of biowares most hardcore fanboys is surprising considering the civility of retake mass effect. I don't really care what people from the big gaming sites say since they have a stake in how well ME3 does and are hardly unbiased.

I've donated to many causes and charities. I've raised money for curing blindness. I've packed and donated used clothes and relief supplies for flood victims in the Asia-Pacific region. I've built homes in Cambodia for poverty stricken families. And I did this before this 'Retake' movement even sprouted up.

Like another poster said, don't assume.

i cant stand self entitled emo music that does nothing but highlight some spoiled brats anger at his mommy cos he cant get his own way.

so yes..emo fits this band well

you didnt think that we who dont care about the ending see you in some sort of heroic light ?
i personally see pee wee herman throwing a hissy fit cos his cornflakes were moist.

this whole thing is just more fuel for internet restrictions, its about time the net was taken away from those too young to see stupidity in thier actions.

Yes, I'm actually very proud of the gaming community these days, I must say.

Why is anyone still responding the AJRimmsey? He is quite clearly trolling or a fanboy.

You obviously missed the point. The average gamer is now in their 30s. There is no childish entitlement here. These are people who invested money and time into the series, and loved the characters. Only to have that ending just slapped on as though they didn't care. It hurts the consumer base, and from a business perspective, doing that was a bad call.

Secondly, there is nothing wrong with the song. You obviously missed the point.

Well I commend you for your efforts, and the fact that it also gives to charity. I hope that the developers address your grievances and comes out with more content to satisfy them. I'm personally okay with the endings, but I would not turn down more content.
