In 1995 the average game was going for 39.99 to 49.00 depending where you bought it. If he paid 100 dollars for a game it must have been some game.

I still remember when my mom purchased for me Mortal Kombat 2 at the local Walmart(SNES) .. It's was  101$ with tax. EDIT .. Although their game were more expensive than most other game.

What gets me in stitches is his comparison of Resistance to Mass Effect.

Two totally different series, of two extremely different calibers.

Tool of IGN is a tool.

Apparently games are cheap compared to when he was a kid?

I'm 33, been playing games since I was 4. I remember games being 50p. They then rose to something like £1.99 for budget games and £9.99 for major releases. Once the consoles stepped into the arena they started charging about £20 a game... OK there were one or two titles that became so sought after that copies changed hands for over £100, and they weren't marketed to purposefully shoot up in value like that - demand merely outstripped supply, thats all.

The price thing is irrelevant honestly. Games are massively more popular these days and in much more demand. That coupled with cheaper manufacturing costs equals an overall lower price.

I think some of his points are spot on. Others are not. There are indeed some brats on here and some people who's common sense has left the building. Those people give humanity a bad name.

While I agree with what you say, this guy's approach is flame-bating on purpose, and lowers himeslf to the level of the ending haters he thiks exist.

A nice irony in and of itself.

Okay IGN is pissing me off. Take action American friends.

Write your congressmen and senators, 47 USC Section 317 should be extended to the internet media.

I find it ridiculous that not one of the major internet sites had anything to say about the ending of this game. On launch day consumers rely on the information provided by these sites to make informed decisions about spending their money.

New technology has weakened traditional media but has also created a new class of media that is unregulated, and does not have to report on potential conflicts of interest. This has worked against consumers. The kid who worked a weekend to save an extra 60 bucks deserves to know the whole truth about games before buying on launch day.

Is it a coincidence that Jessica Chobot can get a paid role in this game and IGN reports a perfect game, and then leads attacks on people wanting a new ending? Trouble is we will never know. If IGN was a radio or TV station, Chobot/IGN would not have been allowed to do this without disclosure of paid programming.

So if you're in the US i suggest writing or calling your congressmen and senators about this issue. Again the law is 47 USC, s 317 (Announcement of Paid Programming) also known as the Payola Law. Read it at http://www.law.corne...ode/text/47/317 . As you can see it has not been updated since 1980 because as you know technology hasn't changed since 1980. Consumers deserve to know if these websites are getting paid to post content.

I'm not shocked that they're going on the attack. They're the propaganda arm of EA, they handle all the publicity for the company.

something that fascinated me is that he claims we have no right to ask for an new ending or they make any changes to it.
But we've already seen game developers change endings before in DLCs after fans asked for it, most common example is the Broken Steel DLC to Fallout 3., where they allowed you to survive the last mission and continue your gameplay after the mission. Granted it might not have been in the same scale as ME3s ending but never the less makes his arguments invalid in my opinion.

Hold the Line.

God forbid I disagree regularly with people on the retake mass effect front that have completely lost any form of self-control and taken this situation way out of proportion. I'am also starting to getting a bit annoyed by the fact that some people think every post of them has to end with "hold the line" especially if that is about everything they said in that particular post, we get it, you can stop that now.

but...

this guy firmly tops everything and probably makes even the most stout pro-ending people frown. He is rude, he is obnoxious and he insults people multiple times and on top of it all he just don't seem to get it, at all. If IGN sees this I'm pretty sure they will need to have a serious conversation with this guy, cause this lacks any form of professionalism he needs to do his job.

All I can say, Keep up the good work guys but don't stoop down to this guys level, please.

I think Conrad Verner syndrome is catching. This is what Colin had to say about his earlier outburst:

You're right. Initially the reaction would have been to give what he gave but instead it's better to rise above him. Not hard how low he is. And he doesn't seem to get the majority that want a "change". We're not saying change all the ending because actually if you choose 2 of the 3, a lot of it works. (except Joker turning chicken and the "bug" of people on the ground suddenly appearing on the Normandy) And since EVERYONE is seen on Earth as Shep gives pep talk prior to final run, Joker apparently returns to Earth to bail. There are plotholes in the endings they should fix but doesn't mean change entirely.

Plus all the asset gathering. For what? I could have arrived with half the assets and still have the same ending but the game still forces me to go through all the unnecessary asset gathering. Since my MP got readiness near 100% all the time, I could have left the Geth and Quarians alone and still had the same ending. But the game doesn't allow you to just jump back to Earth before that. And don't get me started on the Asurians that I REALLY didn't need those late coming low asset bringing selves.

This clown's tirade seems to imply make every ending all Unicorns and Rainbows while throwing out insults. And since the uploader is "IGNEntertainment", that little bit at the front about not representing IGN is complete bull.
