atm i have a male human mage
after looking at the prima guide online i'm basically thinking of doing an all out damage DPS mage
i'm planning to have the fire tree, the bomb tree, grease, heal, some other cool stuff, and a shapeshifting specialization to defend myself in melee
Mage Build Suggestions?

I'm planning on making a Skelemancer myself.
That is unless I choose to go with a Hammerdin instead.

Question since you have the guide, do Mages gain physical stats upon shapeshifting?

they just get increase armor and constitution. shapeshifting gives you melee damage if you run out of mana or have a bunch of enemies running at you. blood magic is also a DPS brand, but that is only if you want to be evil...which i dont

close your eyes and randomly pick spells, or let your 3-year old cousin do it.

PC build depends largely on what NPCs you plan to bring. Since you're going for DPS I'll assume you have a tank, healer and other dps.
If your other dps is a rogue then you may want to get more crowd control spells. If your other dps is a mage you might want to focus purely on damage, single target, area, over time etc. and let the healer and other mage worry about CC. If the other dps is dual wielding you may consider one of the weapon enchant lines, but it might not be worth it for just the tank + dual wielder.
By the end of the game you will have a ton of spells, much more than an NPC mage due to tomes and plot points. Its probably easier to plan around the start and middle of the game since points will be tight and you may not have your ideal party for a while. I would try to cover all your bases before really jumping head first into specialization. Having the versatility and utility early on is great and in the grand scheme of things you will still be able to dps pretty good and still have options to fall back on if your other mages die or CC gets resisted.
