I'm hoping that Weekes' involvement with the EC will make the ending better. That's the only thing that's keeps me cautiously optimistic about it.

Charr, the krogan poet from Ilium. You can help him hook up with an asari.

Oh. I thought he was only talking about Mass Effect 3.

Charr appears in ME3 as well and it's quite heartbreaking, I hear -- I, too, failed to spot him in the game - got to keep my eyes better peeled next time I play (when the EC comes).

Patrick also completely understands what went wrong with the ending (oh, yes, Taky on Penny Arcade is Patrick). He's now involved in the EC, which makes me optimistic.

I'm not the biggest fan of Mac Walters, but the main offender with the endings is Casey Hudson.

I'm personally hoping Walters is too busy murdering Mass Effect lore with his comics to work on the EC.

The thing is, Redemption and Evolution as comics, aren't bad. But the two things I have seen about the new one , with a quarian are...er....MINDBLOWING ,as in  a snipergun bullet to the head. But perhaps is too early to judge.

I don't think that the comics are that bad... I mean, Redemption was half-decent, didn't read whole Evolution, but I managed to enjoy Invasion.

is the newest comic terribad or something?

Maybe they should've kept Karpyshyn in the team. Or was this his idea from the start? That's a question I would like to get answered at some point. I mean, when you start a trilogy you should know how you want it to end.

Actually they didn´t. When they made ME1 they had no idea where the story was going. Heck! Cerberus wasn´t even meant to be more than just a bunch of expendable bad guys in the first game. Even the background story for them were changed.

imagine being in Weekes shoes now. The producer and the lead screwed the franchise up and now everybody is looking at him and Dombrow for fixing the damn mess.

In Miranda voice: no pressure...

I vote for Drew Karpyshyn.

He is no longer in Bioware. Moved to book writing [not his strongest part, in my humble opinion].

They could at least have used Drew´s dark energy story. At least it would be better than what we ended up with:S

But they are not changing them, and honestly I don't think that Walters/Hudson came over to him saying "Please Patrick, the BSN hates us and worships you as a god of writing, try to expand the ending without changing them, so the fans love us again!". No. The ending is Walters/Hudson creation, and it will remain so. I believe Patrick will be responsible for some character dialogue, but that's it.

Question of the year : who wrote the ending ? The janitor ?

Mac Walters, the lead writer.

Why would they make the intern the lead writer?

So he's the one who wrote fetch quests, the Journal, that awful forced Joker argument scene? See what I did there? No one's perfect, stop using him to bash other writers. Especially since you don't work at Bioware and you were NOT there and didn't see what was happening. This forum's "need" to have a "hero" in this endings drama is so childish.

TV shows and games always suffer from this problem. When setting out to make a TV series or game, you should at least have an outline of the direction of the series.

Battlestar Galactica suffered because of this.

Some seasons of 24 suffered because of this.

Mass Effect suffered because of this.

Dragon Age suffered because of this.

People like it when plot points are interconnected rather than fabricated and seemingly illogical.

OP, why did you forget to mention John Dombrow? Those two working together is responsible for some of the best moments in the game. What is so cool is that Dombrow was a fan of ME1 and was later brought on board with the sequels. So, he experienced the Genophage introduced in ME1 like the rest of us, but he got to write how it would be cured (or not) in ME3. Totally jealous.

QFT.

Soon people will be creating fanart with Weekes disguised as Batman, and Dombrow as Robin.

Seriously. Patrick is a great guy who wrote tons of amazing stuff in ME3. But he ain't impeccable, no one is, and other writers did great things too, including Mac Walters. This entire "Mac = everything bad, Patrick = everything great" reasoning on BSN is some nonsense childish logic for people who can only grasp the reality of art creation as black & white with pristine heroes and bad evil villains who hate fans and wait in the shadows, plotting how to screw up the franchises.

Agreed.  I'm sure all the writers have good and bad... the problem is: Mac Walters does not appear to be a good lead writer.  That doesn't mean Patrick or John would have done an epic job.  If Patrick's post is to be believed -- personally, I give it a bit of weight since it came from his personal handle -- the problem was not enough collaboration.

Because Mac has wrote more bad stuff then good. All writters make mistakes. Even Patrick has, but with Patrick he has written so many good stuff it overshadows the bad, where with Mac that does not happen.

It must be devastating to know that all this good work product of your effort means nothing with that "ending" just like the effort we put when we played the three games...

I think Patrick knows that he did excellent work and is proud of it.

It's no different than being on a baseball team that blows it in the 9th inning, but you went 4-4 with 3 home runs. The team lost, but you were awesome.
