Unlocking blood mage - possible to do so without Isolde dying?

I'm just wondering about this - one of the options in Redcliffe is to get Jowan to send me into the Fade at the cost of Isolde (I don't particularly like the stupid woman but I'm trying to avoid needless deaths). I hear that you can choose to go to the Circle so that they can perform the ritual without burning up Isolde.

My question is - if you bring in the Circle, do you still get sent into the Fade and therefore still able to acquire Blood Mage specialisation?

Yes, you can. Edit: you may already know, but you can only get the specialization if you go into the Fade yourself.

once the circle is present they perform the ritual so no one has to be sacrificed. you get to choose who gets sent into the fade, wynne, morigan, yourself, the first enchanter.

Note that you can only bargain with the demon for bloodmagic if you yourself go, and only if you're a mage. If you're not a mage, roll a mage next playthrough.

The first enchanter wont go - something about doing you enough favours already. The slacker.

Tip: Choose the Blood Mage specialization, reload, and then choose the to increase your talents to get the Tome of Ethereal Suggestion (talent point for any class).

I'm sure that depends on prior choices, because I managed to get Irving to go into the Fade. It was something along the lines of "you owe me one" and he agreed. I wasn't too impressed with this spell list though; Jowan's arguably better.

 Jowan's arguably better.

Eurgh, seriously?  Jowan has to be the worst mage build I've seen :/

I guess that depends on your play style, although I did with Jowan and not Irving.

It may also depend on level.  When I got there, Jowan just had what looked like every tier1 Mage ability :(

I tried the fade with both Irving and Jowan. Both have lots of useless spells but Irving is level 16 and Jowan just level 11 (my main character was level 12 at the time). I had no problems with Irving at hard difficulty but Jowan just sucked badly with no healing and died horribly in final battle every time until I lowered difficulty.

Fun fact: you can make Irving a blood mage if you have unlocked it previously. He is level 16 and has a talent point to spend. ;)
