Casey Hudson said, "We always intended that the scale of the conflict and the underlying theme of sacrifice would lead to a bittersweet ending."

When did they advertise this fact?  When did they say flat out that, "oh, by the way, no matter what you do the ending is going to suck."

There's bittersweet and then there's just flat out depressing. Not a lot of replay value in depressing.

Bittersweet is fine. Something like a DA:O Sacrifice ending would be great.

Apparently bittersweet + lots of speculation for everyone = gaping plot holes, nonsensical character development, and contradictory information

Either Bioware/Casey Hudson is intentionally giving the middle finger to EA for rushing, or a lot of people in that Bioware writing team are...well...simple-minded.

I just want explanations, I feel like I'm missing a good 30 minutes of end game exposition

When did he say this? And bittersweet does not equal stupid, nonsenical and depressing.

The only feeling i got from the ending was one of strangling a newborn kitten.

Their intentions clearly contradict their own statements they made as the game was approaching release.

I must have missed the sweet part of the ending. Did I miss something? Well, Joker and EDI holding hands in the 'synthesis' was kind of cute, except for the whole synthobiotic bit. That creeped me out.

When was the end sweet? It's bitterbitter. From a roleplay and a metagame perspective. Why would Bioware do it in the worst possible way? Good question, I wish I knew.

Bittersweet is good for maybe a book, or a movie. It works when its done well and causes you to think about what you just experienced. Unless you're a slow reader, the time invested is significantly lower than a bloody video game RPG trilogy.

Past the 100 hour mark, player expect a happy ending. I think there was a thread by a former DA:O producer who summed it up very nicely.

I hope they do indoctrination theory because if they try to explain why starchild makes sense I am going to lose it.

There isn't a sweet part. And we were promised a perfect golden ending if we did everything right, the same as 2.

Galaxy would be in for a rough time whatever happend, that's bitter enough for me. Billions dead, worlds ravaged and so on. Where's the sweetness?

You dont understand! Starchild has to kill you, or else you'll die!

It all makes sense, you see.

I'd hardly call that bittersweet!
Bitter, perhaps.
And yes, pre release it was more like "we want to have multiple endings"....

As I recall, right after the final ending got leaked a few days before release. I could be wrong though.
