I'm sure someone has done a thread on this but I can't find it for some reason. So...
After playing ME3, what are your favourites in order?
1. ME2
2. ME
3. ME3
I really enjoyed the character-oriented story in ME2, which I found more interesting than the Reaper conflict overall.

In terms of features and overall enjoyment, they all balance out to me. ME1 had the planet exploration that I thoroughly enjoyed. ME2 has the best DLC and side missions of either game. And ME3 has the best "epic moments" of either game. I'd say:
ME1=ME2=ME3
ME1=ME2=ME3

In terms of overall quality?
Hrm.
ME1 and ME2 were very different in terms of gameplay, but I think overall I liked ME2 a bit more. ME3 was on track to be a better game overall until the ending.

As above
ME3 is a game of peaks and troughs. ME has far too much generic stuff outside of the plot planets. Despite a weak plot and the WTF moment with the T-800 ME2 is overall a very smooth ride with a lot of characters.

ME1, ME2, and the first 3/4 of ME3. (Yes, I'm pretending the ending didn't happen.)

If ME3 had a decent ending then it would have far and away been the best in the series.
