But ME1 is the most memorable for me: it had that polished, classic, sci-fi feel.

This.
I have to agree with the general critics score. In terms of the game itself:
ME2 > ME3 >>> ME
In terms of story:
ME > ME2 > ME3

My best of the trilogy is ME2 because:
*The camera direction was the best I have seen in games.
*Graphics where very fresh and good, was a jump later after ME1.
*Character development was the best I had seen, they where the most believeable characters I have seen in a game.
*Gameplay was balanced right between rpg and shooter elements.
Second is ME1 because:
*It had a very interesting and intriguing scenario.
*It felt longer than any other game of the series.
*It had larger areas to walk around.
*It had driving sections. (Yes,I liked them)
*Its gui was complex and hard to get used to. (pc)
*Battles could be better.
Last is ME3 because:
*It lacked on the technical department, didn't felt fresh but dated instead.
*Its content was less. (dialogues,places,bars,mini-games)
*It screwed lore and left lots of plot-holes.
*The way it ends destroyed people's motives for replaying the trilogy.

I have no problem with that, just don't call it roleplay (which implies choices, and the more the merrier).Knut0 wrote...
Good point there, but I am one of the people who dont think of the ending as a part of the game. I just felt Shepard was more of a person this time over, showing actual feelings. I played as a paragon, so I can get why renesheps feel this is not something for them.
It is a matter of personal preferences.
I also feel that conversations are more dynamic, thogh it came with the cost of more dialog options.
Perhaps "good writing" (for a parangon Shepard at least) would be better (until one speaks of the endings ^^).

ME1 inventory management and planet exploration on mako were very tiresome experience. Still had better ending than 3.
ME3 ending that ruined the trilogy. Felt that the choices Made throughout the series were just a number (EMS) and nothing more.

ME1 had better overall story then ME2, but suffered from children deceases when it came to game-play. ME3 had better gameplay then ME2 and was the conclusion of the two earlier installments in terms of story. Overall it would have been the best "act" in terms of satisfaction (as the final acts are supposed to be I guess), if not for the ending.
