Who knows, this could have been an extremely ballsy move by Bioware, posing as a fan, contacting the FTC in order to get Retake seen as being ridiculous by the media and all those who are yet undecided or against us. But I doubt it, just a thought.

Very few companies ever try stuff like this - if you get caught it looks... kind of bad.  Not worth it.

And there's a very large chance that EA would incur a serious fine as a corporation wasting government resources investigating itself.

For reference, there have been a number of companies that have attempted to subvert consumer uproar through hired proxies, and it did not end very well. Most of those companies were not tech-industry companies, and they did not understand that the internet has a way of figuring those things out.

A company like EA, with such a heavy presence on the internet, would not make that sort of mistake.

I wasn't being serious lol, just adding to the conspiracy theme that's going around lately :bandit:

Yeah that's too extreme. I hope a lot of you are right and it doesn't taint the rest of the Retake movement...

This isnt just bad for bioware its threatened the gaming industry as a whole, FTC shouldn't have control over any video games due to them being a form of artistic expression and authorship, this fan should have donated to childs play as it is a possitive reason for Bioware to change the ending on their own terms.

Well now we definetely look like entitled gamers. Hopefully Bioware will realize that this is the act of one person, and not everyone else who has been fighting this reasonably.

I don't get all the hate against this guy.

He believed himself cheated by the marketing vs the actual product and hence went to the FTC as is every consumers right. I wouldn't have done it, but it's his right.

True, it is his right, however, he should have thought about it more, instead of jumping to possible legal actions. He filed his complaint under false advertising.  Bioware nor EA never advertised decision making for the end.  The 16 possible endings is a reference to interviews with Casey Hudson.  Those interviews aren't considered advertising, thus, his complaint won't really be considered by the FTC. However, the movement for better endings can take a negative hit because of this complaint.

it takes 10 minutes at most to file a complaint, and in no way should be considered dumb/rude etc. he felt that he wasn't getting what he paid for. that is a legitimate concern.

I said it already elsewhere but I'll say it again. I condemn the attempt. It'll shut BW's open attitude down completely. Seriously, who would be really surprised?
It reminds me of the absurd US law suit where McDonalds was sued because they didn't warn you that the hot coffee is hot. It won't achieve absolutely anything, only increase a bitter-sweet atmosphere.
