This is my second playthrough. I have killed Wynne and Morrigan left because I didn't do her ritual. My own character is dw warrior. I play normal difficulty. Is it even possible to beat the archdemon? And if it is possible, how do I do it?
I have good equipment and over 100 health potions. I'm planning to use loghain, leliana and maybe zevran.
Beating archdemon without healer?

Buy good equipment. 100 Health Pots should suffice.

Totally doable with pots but you'll need quite a few and make sure to have all the different levels so you can take more than one in a row when it gets tough.

Definitely doable. In fact, all you need is Alistair (spec'ed out for a good tank with good equipment) and your dual-wield PC (mine was a rogue). That's all I had after Wynne and Leliana went down right at the beginning.

Yeah I didn't take Wynn, hardly ever used her, Morrigan was funner companion to have imo. I gave Morrigan spirit healer though, but she died soon into fight so didn't have access to use her.
I had 100 healths and 100 lesser healths, put all n tactics to use most powerful health potion if under 50% health...worked out ok.
Did it on first try, all were dead except my main dw warrior..but won. One of the few "boss" fights that I didn't have to do a few times.

I just finished the game on hard difficulty without any healer, so it's fairly doable. And what's more, Leliana had to finish the last quarter of the job alone. And that was a bit pain in the ass since it went fairly slower than if I had my 2 mages doing their rightful job, which is to deal a lot of damage. But it's very gratifying and told me to never lose hope whatever the odds.
So secure a few hundreds healing potions (something like 50 lesser, normal and great should suffice), train yourself to use them when needed and go for the final badass whithout fear. It's far less difficult than Branka IMO. I haven't played many parts of the game without two powerful mages, me at main DD and Morrigan as main hexer, so I can't really say how that'll be whith a different crew though.
Like Tunari, it was one of the few boss that I OSed. Seems like the dragons are allergic to my group

I just finished on normal difficulty as a mage. By the end, it was just me and 1 of my summoned mages left standing. I was completely out of lyrium, but the ballistae helped a lot. After they jammed, I just had to use a LOT of health potions to stay alive and pop off whatever attacks I could. As long as you have enough health potions, you can make it. Oh, and the spirit balms helped me too once I remembered that I had them...ha. (Next time, I'll either bring Leliana or make sure I can pick locks seeing as how it pisses me off to not be able to open all those chests.)

When I played my warrior (silly me not getting him a bow) I found the ballista handy for the period of time when the archdemon sits on that unaccessible "island" and hurls blue fire at you. Summon the army of your choice to keep the darkspawn minions at bay, and fire away with the ballista for ~100 damage a hit.

I found this battle a bit to easy considering it was the finale. I wish they'd have made it harder. Like i swear that warp spell, even though it looks really cool, does nothing. The spell should lift people in the air.

Did it yesterday on nightmare with just a two-handed warrior and a tank. Didn't use too many health pots, but some. Took about 2 minutes to kill him.

Call in the armies and use the balistas. On my last play through, I whooped the archdemon. Poor archie, it wasn't even funny.

I completely overloaded on health potions. 150 lesser, 100 normal, 40 or so greater. I blew all my remaining money on ingredients. However, I hardly needed any of those. I needed way more against Branka or Loghain. Made heavy use of the ballistas, but I also went up close with my rogue and Alistair. They did just fine. Morrigan was able to face it too.
That was on Hard. Hopefully, it's more challenging on Nightmare

Greater spirit balms help too.

I just defeated the demon again last night and my mage went down real early in the battle. So I had to kill the boss from about 50% health without a healer. All you need is a ton of health potions. I was on hard difficulty, so I would say it's possible without a mage.

I played a mage but had a nasty habit of using AoE spells that love to kill the party. I won nonetheless but they missed the show.

Definitely doable, but not easily. My second run at the Archdemon, I was a rogue and I brought in Wynne, Alistair, and Zevran. Wynne got surrounded by a horde and killed too quick for me to prevent it very early in the fight. I just shrugged and said, let's see if I can still do this. I took advantage of the ballistas (Zev and my PC both stood at different ones) and Al tanked the archdemon, keeping its attention and downing health pots like there was no tomorrow (and for him, there wasn't...). My armies dealt with hordes that appeared, and all of the party characters focused solely on the Archdemon. It was a tough fight, and Zev eventually fell before the end, but Al and I were still going strong by the end.

If you want a backup plan, but good bows on everyone's weapon switch. Calling an army and hanging back and pelting him is a really easy (and boring) way of winning that fight on any difficulty.

You could just solo the archdemon. He's not hard at all, even on nightmare. Here's a video of a DW rogue soloing the archdemon on nightmare.

the archdemon is a putz. Just let the army do the majority of the work, and man the ballistas.

Archdemon isn't that tough of a fight...I lost Wynne and Morrigan to an ill-timed dragon breath early in the combat (around 80 percent health) and me and the mages from the Circle took him down without much difficulty. Used a few (5 or 6) poultices to stay up.

I practically slept through that battle on hard. I used ranged weapons and had Wynne, but just used her to heal the lords and stuff so they would make it through. I summoned the mages and used ranged weapons because the demon wasn't chasing me.

Two minutes? Sorry, I call bull**** on that...
While he is very defeatable, it simply takes time, and by time, I mean much more than two minutes - hell, the time it takes him to lift off and land add up to more than two minutes!!

Ballistas and the redcliffe army are my choices. Just make sure your guys are strong enough to handle the darkspawn swarms. That is the only difficult thing about the fight. Archdemon is easy if you stand back and use the ballistas.
