Sorry, OP you are wrong. It is immature, irresponsible and completely unwarranted.

It also effectively kills any sympathy many people might have had for people that felt betrayed by the endings.
No one feels sorry for the kid kicking, screaming, and holding his breath cause he didn't get what he wanted.

How so? Because you said it?

The "Retake" movement is insulated by their Charity donations. Much... much more so than they themselves realize and even more so than the antagonists of it realize.

Bioware wont ever do a frontal attack on a group thats a) supporting games for kids, B) Fans who are potential customers.

Its not childish to lodge a complaint. Its childish to keep submitting yourself to a businesspractice that doesnt reward your needs and wants. Its inane. If the person who filed this complaint feels he has a legitimate complaint then why not?

Why do you consider reporting your displeasure using the correct official channels for consumer dissatisfaction "a kid kicking, screaming, and holding his breath" ?

I am actually rather surprised this viewpoint is held by so many. Isnt campaigning, making viral videos, facebook events, telling people to boycut Operation Goliath more in line with "  the kid kicking, screaming, and holding his breath" ? It seems much more like something you would do if you wanted attention.

I could buy that if he didn't run to the media directly afterwards screaming "LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO BIOWARE"

It's downright pathetic.

To go this far over a video game ending... Seriously, people need to sit back and take a look at themselves. I mean I thought the endings were bad and I wanted them changed but damn, some of you are in rabid entitled gamer cuckoo land.

Please just calm down, try to behave like you aren't a Simpsons depiction of a comic book guy.

The guy who made the complaint is a over entitled manchild.
Really, of course you are gonna say your game is the stuff, that's standard sense.
And the ending isn't even bad, if that gets someone butthurt enough to sue over that, and then gets support, well.....
I hope the world is really ending now.

You guys do know someone took Skechers to the FTC over faulty claims on their "Shape-Up" sneakers? They made a claim and their product couldn't deliver and on those grounds it was enough to cause an investigation to their products claims.
http://fashionista.c...ng-shoe-claims/

It seems frivolous, but if enough people complain about false advertising they'll do something. Whether it means any action is another story.

That's is claiming health benefits that a product doesn't confur.

Yes that can get you in real trouble.

You've got a point. And in fairness the "it's a video game" argument cheapens the validity of the entire industry guys. Personally I still think that filing a formal complaint might've been a bit too much too soon. It has only been 2 weeks after all >.>

Yeah but that assumes he was doing it to get attention to himself, and not merely making the point that people CAN do this if they have that much of a problem with how the game was advertised.

Someone should take the person who filed this and beat them over the head with a rock.

I'm not sure what your knowledge is of health or sports health and nutrition, but anyone that advertises any article of clothing has a health benefit is obviously lying. Anyone who believes the contrary and buys that product in hopes that it will fulfil that promise is ridiculous. By the same token that person is just as foolish to complain about that product to a government body to right that wrong. Yet the FTC decided to hear their claims and awarded them millions. This case is equally ridiculous, but it doesn't mean it wont amount to something.

Again can people's opinions against this guy have some kind of supporting
premise? Bashing the person who filed the complaint without providing
reasons makes them no better, if not worse.

Not to mention it's functionally equivalent of getting a big bully to beat someone up for you.

As compared to laying down and letting Bioware (a big bully compared to any one consumer) walk all over us with false advertising?
Really The FTC is there for this very same reason. They are indeed helping keep Huge corperations like EA/Bioware from just fragently using False advertising whenever they feel like it.
Nothing ever changes when people just shut up and keep doing as they are told and take what they are given,
Ever go to a fast food place and order a hamburger when you get home you find they've given you a chicken or fish sandwhich instead? Several people will just eat what they are given irregardless of what they wanted/order and paid for. In these cases nothing changes service remains poor. Its the ones that actually go back and demand what they orderrd that get noted, that show theres a problem that needs to be addressrd and which motivates the big businesses to change not the sheeple that quietly accept what they are given.

Not in a way this idiotic. I for one dont like the endings and would love some type of DLC to atleast expand them...But this.... doesnt matter what their opinion is.

There are several magnitudes of difference between:

a) suing a production company for making a misleading trailer (that's usually done by a marketing company, and in this case, presented a introspective drama as a high-octane action thriller)

B) suing a shoemaker for creating a product that causes unintended health problems and not saying anything about it

c) suing a video game developer for not giving you varied enough endings for your liking

I'm in the same boat as everyone else, but running to the FTC and yelling, "Bioware used deceptive advertising to talk about their endings!" would have you laughed out once they research the case.

There's nothing they can be held accountable for. The "Take Earth Back" tagling was misleading? It is correct - you just didn't like the way you acquired it. The endings weren't "varied enough"? You can make the case that all three endings will have wildly different circumstances, even if the cutscenes are similar. "The choices didn't matter!" Well, they mattered throughout most of the game - maybe not to your liking.

It's a waste of time. I'd like to know who did this so we can laugh at them.

Well I'm not as the person who filed the complaint said:

Clearly, none fo these were represented in the ending. If anyone else
wishes to file a complaint (the more there are the more likely the FTC
will take action) just go to FTC.gov and fill out a complaint form in
the Consumer Protection section. Here's EA HQ's address and phone
number:
209 Redwood Shores Parkway
Redwood City, CA 94065
(650) 628-1500

They obviously used their topic to draw awareness to everyone that they have the option of filing a complaint  and gave people the information in how to do so.

Interesting since someone is unhappy and takes it to the correct legal athorities to be investigated they should then be physically beaten? You pro-EA/Bioware defenders sure are a scary lot. What next maybe a witch hunt?
Guess I'm happy on this side holding the line then over there with you.....

How does reporting BioWare to the FTC even work...? BioWare is a Canadian company, last I checked. Above and beyond that, I fail to see how BioWare did anything wrong. I've not yet seen any of the endings, but I'm sure I'll like them.
