One page of notes does not mean that there was only one page of notes, nor that this is the final draft or even the last round of notes before the final draft was written.

This looks more like a part of a disregard nothing brainstorm in a writers' meeting.

Problem being... the final script doesn't deviate far from this brainstorming dribble. It just adds filler between the main points that were jotted down on that paper.

^This.  If I were to read this before the game was released, I'd be a little concerned but not overly.  I certainly would not have ridiculed the writers for it.

But when you compare it to the actual ending...

I just noticed the note of how the feel should be "Brave New World + Ending of the First Matrix"... If you describe what you're writing by comparing it to other works... it's a sign you might be a hack. And who the hell thought that kind of feel would fit Mass Effect?

You don't try to make the ending to a trilogy by using the ending from the FIRST movie in a trilogy.

Sadly it is true. Sadly it makes no sense since they kept promising us 16 different endings based on are chocies what we got was 3 endings well 1 ending with 3 different colours

Actulally, this looks like normal brainstorming for a plot. The fact that the outcome of this is ****ty doesn't mean this isn't a good way to plan out stuff. 

And the fact that it kinda... fits on one page is also unnerving.

Brave new world? Try burning remains of a world we knew and loved, no matter what ending you pick. There's good intentions, and then there's making those intentions into reality through storytelling. Guess which part they failed at.

My guess is that they didn't put two and two together and figure out that any ending that removed the relays from the equation would equal a slow painful demise for most of the characters you've come to know and love through three games when they wrote it.

If this had just stayed as a brainstorming session and we had been given a good ending, I'd laugh and see it as a good old fashioned brainstorm session: toss out EVERY idea you get just to get the bad ones out of the air.

Unfortunately it seems this became the ending... someone didn't understand what the point of brainstorming is it seems.
